Chapter 654: We don’t care

"Whatever you packed for us is enough." Zaque spoke up, his voice hushed, but loud enough for everyone present to hear.

"That’s right." Heiren agreed with a nod of his head, but he froze and turned to Coco. "Did you grab the pictures that I taped on the wall? What about the photo book in my closet—"

Heiren paused and let out a sigh. "You know what? It seems like I will have to check my room. I don’t want to leave a single photo of Coco behind."

Coco’s eyes went wide when she heard the second husband’s words and froze in Alhai’s hand.

"My photo?" Coco repeated and shifted on the bed to look at the brown haired mediator, but the sound of his rushed footsteps vanishing down the hall reached her ears.

Zaque and Alhai chuckled, their hearts finally calming down.

"Out of the four of us, Heiren had a camera in his possession." Zaque explained as he walked over to the bed and plopped down beside Coco. "He often sneaks a photo every day. You just didn’t notice."

"Whose photos?" Coco asked, her throat bobbing up and down as she swallowed.

"Mine, Alhai’s, Quizen’s, Kairo’s—" Zaque mumbled, all the while starting to count on fingers. "But mostly, it was yours."

Alhai snorted and squeezed Coco’s cheek. "Since you’re not aware, then I’m willing to bet all my salary on the line that you also didn’t notice that your portrait was hanging on the second floor’s hall."

"What?" Coco blinked, eyes widening in disbelief.

"Seriously?" Zaque raised an eyebrow, shooting Coco an unamused stare.

"What?" Coco repeated, her face twitching into a small frown. "It’s not like the four of you pointed it out when you hang it up there. How else am I supposed to know?"

"I don’t know.. By looking around?" Zaque grumbled, sighing heavily.

Coco could sense the underlying sadness in Zaque’s tone and couldn’t help, but feel guilty at her tactlessness— along with her unawareness of her surroundings.

She didn’t mean to. She always had something else on her mind to actually pay attention to her surroundings.

Does this make me a bad wife? I often see this kind of behavior from shows.. Does it make me one? Coco thought, her heart beating anxiously at the thought of being a bad spouse to her mediators.

"I’ll be better." Coco mumbled, her lips curling downwards. "I promise. I’m really sorry."

"I don’t really care if you noticed or not." Alhai snorted and ignored the disbelieving look that Zaque shit his way. "All I care about is you coming home to us every time you go out."

Kairo cleared his throat and caught their attention. "If it matters, amazing spouses like Coco are often found off somewhere because their significant others failed to make them feel love at home, so the fact that Coco came back home to all of you at the end of the day.. I believe that feat alone is heartwarming."

"Exactly." Alhai nodded his head, feeling proud that his new friend had his back.

Zaque rolled his eyes. "I don’t care about Coco not noticing the small things in our house. I’m merely upset that she didn’t see how beautiful she was in that portrait."

"Sure." Alhai hummed, which was followed by a snort. "Let’s go with that then."

Zaque felt a little upset at the tone Alhai used on him and whipped his head to look at him, his eyes narrowed into a glare, but before he could retort something back, Coco spoke up.

"Let’s.. Let’s put that aside for now." Coco laughed nervously and pulled her face away from Alhai’s palm. "I want to apologize for not waiting for all of you to come home, for deciding to leave the city without your opinions."

"Why are you apologizing about that?" Zaque asked, eyebrows raised to his hairline.

"Because it was selfish of me to do it." Coco mumbled, her gaze shifting down to the floor as a frown settled on her features. "This situation is not something I should be deciding on alone."

"But you did it with the intention of keeping us safe, didn’t you?" Alhai hummed, his hand sliding up to the back of her head and letting it rest there.

"W-Well.. Yes." Coco murmured, her heart heavy with guilt.

"Then stop feeling like that." Kairo sighed and walked over, gently pushing Alhai aside so he could get down on his knees in front of Coco. "Did you hear any words of complaint from your husbands?"

Coco blinked slowly and shook her head, reluctance evident in her movement.

"That means they don’t mind." Kairo stated softly, his hands enclosing around Coco’s hands. "If they did, then you probably would have heard something about it by now— which I highly doubt would happen."

Coco could see Zaque and Alhai nodding their heads to agree with Kairo’s statement, the sight alone bringing a smile to her face.

"I didn’t think of it that way." Coco breathed out before a soft giggle escaped her mouth. "I guess you have a point.. But I can’t stop feeling guilty because I never wanted to make a decision without hearing their opinion about the matter."

Alhai chuckled and patted Coco’s head. "You say that, but you made a decision to bring the four of us here without hearing our say about it."

Zaque froze, but Coco looked at Alhai and opened her mouth to say that it wasn’t her idea.

However, she stopped herself before she could do so and decided to let it go— she vaguely remembered that she did it because she didn’t want them to be upset with Zaque.

Alhai and Heiren didn’t have anything good to say about her at the time after all.

"A-Anyway!" Zaque stammered out, his voice raised to a loud volume that made the other three flinch in their spot. "We don’t care about that, okay? All we want is for you to be safe and away from the Baroness’ clutches!"
