Chapter 463: Chapter 461 Standing on Your Side [Part 1]

After agreeing on the time and place to meet, Maya hung up the phone and continued wandering around the banquet with Liam.

The following morning, Maya and Liam woke up at the same time. Since Maya had arranged to have morning tea with Ella, she got up a bit earlier.

Each of them drove their own car. At the intersection, Liam turned left, while Maya turned right.

Twenty minutes later, Maya arrived punctually at the tea restaurant before 8 o’clock. She entered the restaurant and saw Ella had just sat down.

Immediately, she followed her.

"Ella, morning!"

"Maya, morning!" Ella greeted Maya with a bit of awkwardness, unsure of what Maya’s reaction would be after giving her the evidence.

In front of the dining table, Maya was holding the menu, her mouth watering with anticipation. Despite having eaten here many times, she still loved the food.

Seeing her happy, Ella bit her lower lip, furrowing her brow, pretending to casually order while her gaze often fell on Maya.

After a while, both finished ordering, and started chatting. Ella thought to herself, Maya is so cheerful, it’s better to wait until she’s finished her breakfast to show her the documents, so as not to spoil her mood.

However, before the food arrived, Maya noticed something off about Ella. Ella couldn’t hide things; anything on her mind was written all over her face.

Therefore, Maya grabbed Ella’s hand, furrowed her brow, and stared intently into her eyes, demanding, "Ella, from the moment I came in, your gaze has been off, and you kept glancing at me while ordering. Did you encounter something difficult to share with me?"

Ella, hearing Maya’s question, awkwardly accompanied it with a smile, saying, "What could possibly bother me? Let’s eat breakfast first; we can talk afterwards."

Ella’s forced smile only highlighted that she was hiding something, but since she was unwilling to talk, Maya didn’t press her. As long as Ella had called her out, she would tell her eventually.

Maya’s curiosity was never strong; she treated everyone the same way and wouldn’t persistently dig for answers.

So, it wasn’t until Maya patted her stomach, feeling full, that Ella cautiously said, "Maya, I want to discuss something with you. Be mentally prepared."

"What’s it about? You’re being so secretive. Have you and Elijah confirmed your relationship?"

Ella heard Maya’s joke but didn’t get angry. Instead, she looked conflicted, pondering whether to give Maya the evidence. But if she didn’t let Maya know, it would continue to weigh on her heart.

So, she took a deep breath, took out the parcel she received yesterday from her bag, handed it to Maya, and said, "I received this yesterday. I’m not sure if it’s genuine, so I’m handing it over to you. You deal with it! I’m afraid I’ll make a mistake if I keep it."

Ella’s mystery piqued Maya’s curiosity. She couldn’t guess what Ella had given her, so she didn’t hesitate to take the documents out of the parcel.

However, when she saw that the documents accused her uncle of being the culprit behind Ethan Turner’s murder, Maya’s expression changed abruptly.

Her expression was hard to read, making it difficult to discern whether she believed it or not. In any case, Ella didn’t believe it.

Maya flipped through these so-called pieces of evidence, her breathing becoming difficult. She couldn’t find a reason why someone would send such things to Ella. What was their purpose? Could it be Sister Jane Spencer again? After failing to frame Liam last time, framing her uncle now?

If her uncle ended up imprisoned or met with an accident over this matter, Sister Jane Spencer would benefit the most.

Suddenly, Maya remembered what Liam told her a few days ago. He said Sister Jane Spencer intended for one stone to hit two birds; was the other bird her uncle?

But why would Liam suddenly say this? The truth will eventually come out; Sister Jane Spencer couldn’t use one thing to frame two people. It would be unreasonable; she couldn’t possibly use Ella to help set a fire and kill someone again.

As Maya thought of this, her heart sank all of a sudden, a bad premonition welled up within her. Vaguely, she felt that this piece of evidence might be genuine, or else Liam wouldn’t have inexplicably said one stone hitting two birds.

He and Aron are those two birds, and one of them is the real culprit; otherwise, the second bird wouldn’t be relevant.

Maya panicked; her hands tightly grasped the contract, trembling uncontrollably. She wanted to believe her uncle wasn’t involved with this evidence, but her subconscious couldn’t compromise with her brain.

"Maya, are you okay? I wonder if this evidence is fabricated again by someone, deliberately damaging our relationship. This time, I’m on your side. If you say the culprit isn’t your uncle, I’ll certainly believe you." Maya’s shock left Ella at a loss.

She didn’t understand why Maya approached this evidence differently than last time. Maybe Maya felt heartbroken two of her most cared-for people were continuously framed.

Hearing Ella’s trust inexplicably made Maya feel guilty. This time, she didn’t slam the table to assert the evidence was fake but cautiously said, "Ella, I’ll ask my uncle first, then hand it over to the police for investigation. If he lies, I’ll be able to tell immediately."

Maya had honed the skill of reading facial expressions since childhood.

"Alright, I’ll leave it to you, lest I act rashly." After the arson incident last time, Ella was thoroughly used and was now scared of being exploited again.

"Okay!" Maya nodded, still feeling anxious.

Then, she took the evidence and went to Hanson Clan Group. Before entering Aron’s office, she photocopied the evidence, placing the original in her bag and holding the copy in her hand.

In the chairman’s office, Aron heard the knock on the door and calmly said, "Come in."

Afterward, Maya pushed the door open and entered.

Aron saw Maya come in, lifted his head, smiled at her, and said, "You’re here!"

Maya ignored Aron’s greeting and instead took big strides to his desk.

Standing before his desk, she planted both hands on it, staring directly at Aron, and asked, "Uncle, are you involved with Ethan Turner’s death?"

Hearing Maya’s questioning, Aron’s eyes widened suddenly. He lifted his head, staunchly staring at her, with an oddly bemused smile on his lips, he asked, "Maya, what are you talking about?"

Maya looked at her uncle’s utterly innocent expression; from his initial reaction, she couldn’t discern any flaws. It was as if he was truly wronged.

However, knowing him to be extremely cunning, Maya wasn’t fooled.

She saw Aron playing dumb, grabbed the evidence with her right hand, and slammed it on his desk, saying, "Ella received this yesterday. It accuses you of being Ethan’s murderer. Ella has already handed the original to the police for investigation. Uncle, I want the truth from you: are you involved, and why would you do this?"
