Chapter 490: Chapter 488 Sparing Mercy [20th Update]

Sometimes, Jane Spencer would go months without traveling for work, and they wouldn’t see each other for two or three months. Nolan Woods remained unmarried, occasionally having a girlfriend to meet his physical needs but never truly connecting with any woman.

He was always waiting for Jane Spencer. He said that even if he waited a lifetime without Jane, he’d still go on like this, as long as Jane realized he wanted her to have his child.

Jane had once thought about cutting ties with him completely to live her own life, but she couldn’t let go of this first love.

This time, she didn’t need to worry anymore. She had the Hanson Clan in her hands. After things settled, she could marry Nolan Woods in two years, and people wouldn’t have much to say—no one would expect her to live her entire life honoring Aron Hanson! In this day and age, it’s ridiculous.

Jane was thrilled with her little plan, and her moans grew louder, echoing through every corner of the suite.

Unexpectedly, Maya Spencer and Aron Hanson were perfectly fine, and this was nothing but false joy for her.

At this moment, in Aron Hanson’s hospital room, he watched Liam Spencer leading Maya Spencer away and suddenly called out, "Liam."

Liam, hearing Aron call him, stopped in his tracks and turned around to face Aron.

Aron said, "Show mercy!"

Liam listened to Aron’s plea for mercy, said nothing, and walked away with Maya.

Liam understood what Aron meant by ’show mercy.’ Aron knew he had taken Arthur River away and was pleading for Arthur.

Even though Liam didn’t mention this to Maya, she somewhat figured it out from that sentence alone: ’show mercy.’

She didn’t plead for Arthur; besides, Maya had never been someone who repaid grievances with virtue. She never wanted to be a saint using her high morals to conquer others, and she didn’t possess such traits.

If Liam abandoned Arthur, and if she were abducted every other day, how could she live like that? She was furious with that man for hitting her, and her face still hurt when touched! The places where he kicked her thighs hurt even more. Even if Liam didn’t stand up for her, she’d have to retaliate herself.

Yet she feared Liam might be too angry when he saw Arthur, so she tugged at his sleeve as a reminder: "Third Brother, don’t go overboard."

"Got it." Liam released her little hand, placed his right hand on her shoulder, pulled her closer, and kissed her swollen little face.

When they returned to the hospital room with their arms around each other, Elijah Reed and Ella Turner were still there.

Seeing this, Liam casually reminded them, "Elijah Reed, take Ella Turner to dinner."

In fact, Liam himself wanted to be alone with Maya. He had been missing since 10 o’clock last night until now, 21 hours without a moment alone with her, not even properly hugging her.

Elijah Reed, hearing Liam’s command, quickly stood up from the sofa, looked at Ella Turner, and asked, "Ella, what would you like to eat? I’ll take you to dinner."

However, Ella Turner looked at Maya instead and asked, "Maya, what would you like to eat? I’ll bring it for you."

"I’m fine with anything." Maya had been hungry all day, and the bitter taste in her mouth after getting a shot made her want to eat everything.

"Okay, I’ll buy all your favorite foods." Ella said as she grabbed her bag and left with Elijah.

The moment the hospital room door closed, Liam pulled Maya by the wrist and embraced her tightly, kissing her little face passionately.

Maya felt the man’s enthusiasm and concern, her small hands clutching him tightly, her face buried against his strong chest, looking up intently and saying, "Third Brother, I’m fine."

She knew Liam was worried about her. This embrace contained so much emotion, more so guilt; he felt guilty for not taking good care of her.

Liam listened to the girl’s comfort, hugged her tighter, completely lifting her off the ground.

Seeing this, Maya immediately wrapped her small hands around his neck.

Liam felt the girl’s series of actions and, without taking his eyes off her, apologized, "Maya, I’m sorry, Third Brother didn’t take care of you well."

Hearing the man’s apology and self-reproach, Maya quickly cupped his face with her hands, comforting him: "Third Brother, I’m really okay; if you keep this up, it’ll break my heart."

As she said this, she touched her forehead against his.

She feared seeing Liam’s vulnerability; it made her heart inexplicably ache and unable to comfort him with words, so she could only act affectionately toward him.

Liam listened to Maya’s comfort, looked at the smile she gave him, and also smiled, gently but firmly pressing his forehead against hers.

Moments later, they tightly embraced without exchanging words or making suggestive movements.

Liam held Maya, slowly moving as if soothing a baby to sleep; being able to hold Maya like this made him feel very secure and warm, as if he could embrace her like this forever.

"Cough, cough, cough!" Suddenly, Charlotte Owen arrived; when she walked from the living room to the bedroom and saw Liam holding Maya and wandering around in the hospital room, it was a bit awkward, prompting her to cough a few times, signaling her presence.

Startled by Charlotte’s cough, Maya immediately released Liam, jumped off him, and awkwardly smiled at Charlotte.

Liam, seeing Maya’s flustered and confused demeanor, felt helpless and proceeded to embrace her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder and nonchalantly asked, "Maya, why are you hiding?"

"Your aunt is here, behave yourself." When it came to showing off affection among peers, she could showcase 360 different ways.

But in the presence of elders, she felt awkward and didn’t want to be overly intimate, not wanting to embarrass each other. However, Liam showed no signs of discomfort, continuing to hold her tightly without letting go.

Charlotte Owen looked at Liam being so clingy with Maya, rolled her eyes in disdain at him, and muttered disdainfully, "So affectionate, I wonder who he takes after?"

Then she turned to Maya and said, "Maya, I’ve made bird’s nest soup for you; eat it while it’s hot!"

Maya looked at the lunch box placed on the cabinet by the door and immediately smiled and said, "Thank you, Aunt."

Since Charlotte Owen wasn’t showing attitude to her, she naturally wouldn’t act up...

Meanwhile, her hands kept trying to pry open Liam’s arms around her waist, but this guy continued to tighten his hold, showing no intention of letting her go.

Seeing this, Charlotte Owen rolled her eyes at Liam again, and said indifferently, "I’ll leave now. Maya, eat the bird’s nest soup while it’s hot, it’ll strengthen your body."

"Mm, okay."

At this point, Liam smirked mischievously, saying, "Thanks, Aunt."
