The forest was eerily quiet.

Lumia crouched low among the trees, her sword strapped to her back, its faint glow a comforting presence.

She could hear the muffled voices of her team, each one moving into position.

Claire, a few paces behind her, whispered incantations under her breath, preparing the protective barriers.

Ren was further ahead, already notching arrows, his sharp eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement.

Jex and Lira —with their near-silent steps, disappeared into the underbrush, heading toward the orc village to set the traps that would plunge their enemies into chaos.

Lumia drew a deep breath, steadying her nerves.

The plan was straightforward on paper but deadly in execution:

Misdirection.

Division.

Surgical strikes

and Total Annihilation.

She touched the hilt of her sword, feeling the hum of her magic resonate with the blade.

It was a reminder of the responsibility she carried—not just as a warrior but as someone Kael trusted.

"Focus, Lumia," she told herself, tightening her grip on the blade.

"Positions," Kael’s calm voice echoed in her earpiece, amplified through a magical device the academy had provided for the mission.

"Lumia, you’re leading the eastern strike. Ren, cover her. Claire, stay close and provide support magic. Jex and Lira report once the charges are set." Kael said.

"Understood," Lumia replied.

She glanced at Claire, who gave her a reassuring nod.

"You’re going to do great," Claire whispered.

Ren smirked as he crouched next to them.

"Don’t let her fool you, Princess. She’s just as nervous as the rest of us." Ren said.

Lumia chuckled softly, the moment of levity easing the tight knot in her chest.

"Stay sharp," Lumia said, stepping forward.

"We move on Kael’s signal."

The signal came in the form of a low rumble—the sound of first explosive going off near the orc storage huts.

The flames licked the night sky, and guttural roars echoed from the village as the orcs scrambled to assess the situation.

Lumia unsheathed her sword, the blade glimmering faintly as she channeled her magic into it.

Sparks of lightning danced along the edges, crackling in the cool night air.

"Move!" she shouted, dashing forward with Claire, Aveline and Ren close behind.

The eastern side of the village was in chaos as the orcs, distracted by the explosion, failed to notice the trio approaching.

SLASH

Lumia’s blade sang through the air as she struck the first orc.

The creature staggered, its axe clattering to the ground as it fell.

Ren’s arrows whistled past her, each one finding its mark with unerring precision.

Orcs dropped one by one, their guttural cries silenced by the lethal efficiency of the team.

"Behind you!" Claire shouted.

Lumia spun, her blade slicing through the air just as an orc lunged at her.

Darkness surged from her sword, striking the creature and sending it crashing to the ground.

"Nice save," Lumia said, offering Claire a quick smile.

As they pushed deeper into the village, the resistance grew fiercer.

The orcs, realizing they were under attack, rallied together, their brutish forms towering over the students.

Lumia’s heart pounded as she faced down two of them, their crude weapons gleaming in the firelight.

"You’ve got this," she whispered to herself, raising her sword.

The first orc charged, its war cry echoing through the night.

Lumia sidestepped its swing, as she slashed at its exposed side.

WRAAAAGGHHHH

The orc howled in pain, but before it could retaliate, she ducked under its arm and delivered a final, electrified strike.

The second orc was quicker, its club swinging down toward her with terrifying force.

Lumia raised her blade, forming a barrier around her.

Sparks flew as the club met the barrier, and Lumia seized the opening to counterattack.

Her sword carved through the air, striking the orc’s shoulder.

Darkness coursed through the blade, electrocuting the creature and sending it crashing to the ground.

"Lumia!" Ren called, his voice sharp with urgency.

She turned to see a group of orcs closing in on their position.

Ren’s arrows took down one of them, but the rest were too close for him to handle alone.

"Aveline, shield us!" Lumia shouted.

Aveline raised her hands, a shimmering barrier forming between the orcs and the team.

"Ren, cover me," Lumia said, charging toward the orcs.

Her sword lit up with magic, darkness arcing from its blade as she swung it in wide, devastating arcs.

The orcs fell back under the onslaught, their weapons clattering uselessly against her magical defenses.

As the battle raged on, Lumia caught sight of the orc shaman retreating toward the heart of the village.

The hulking creature’s staff glowed with dark magic, its chants growing louder as it prepared to summon reinforcements.

"We can’t let it finish that spell!" Aveline shouted.

Ren and Claire followed her lead as Lumia charged toward the shaman.

Orcs tried to block their path, but Lumia’s blade cut through them with ruthless efficiency.

When they reached the shaman, it raised its staff, dark tendrils of magic snaking toward them.

Lumia raised her sword, her own magic surging to meet the attack.

"Claire, reinforce me!" she shouted.

Claire’s magic flowed into Lumia, amplifying the power of her sword. With a single, powerful swing, Lumia shattered the shaman’s spell, her blade slicing through its staff.

"Graaahhhhh!"

The shaman let out a guttural roar as it fell, its magic dissipating into the air.

The village was in ruins, the orcs defeated. Lumia stood in the center of the carnage, her sword still covered with blood.

"Ahahahaha, this is amazing... More I want more," Lumia shouted.

"Has she lost her senses," Ren asked Aveline.

"I don’t know it’ my first time seeing her like this," Aveline said.

Then Around her, the rest of the team regrouped, their faces etched with exhaustion and relief.

Kael approached, his expression unreadable.

"You did well," he said, his tone steady.

Lumia nodded, but her heart felt heavy.

The victory was theirs, but the cost of the battle weighed on her.

She glanced at her teammates, their injuries a stark reminder of the risks they had taken.

Mission was Over....
