Chapter 304: Will it make you happy

Yu Xi’s hands were everywhere, mapping his back, gripping his hips, sliding down to palm the curve of his ass and grind them together. The friction was maddening, not nearly enough.

Jian Ci rocked against him, a soft, broken sound escaping into Yu Xi’s mouth. He was losing himself in the taste of coffee and Yu Xi, in the scent of his skin, in the overwhelming rightness of their bodies seeking each other out again and again, as if they’d been apart for years, not minutes. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"Xi-ge, grandpa says—"

The voice, bright and sudden, sliced through the haze.

They sprang apart, chests heaving, lips swollen and glistening. Xiaobao stood frozen in the kitchen doorway, her eyes wide.

She blinked, then a slow, knowing grin spread across her face. "Yet I am meddling when I say you two should get married."

Jian Ci managed a breathless laugh, trying to will his racing heart to slow. Yu Xi, however, scowled, his voice a rough rasp. "Don’t you have other people to annoy? I heard Jian Wei is back."

Xiaobao’s grin vanished. "He is?" She genuinely hadn’t known.

Jian Ci, his hand finding Yu Xi’s waist again, stroking the tense muscle there through his shirt, nodded. "He is back. He didn’t want to tell you he was back."

"Why?" she asked, indignant. "Am I that annoying?"

Jian Ci’s smile turned a shade wicked. "You better go ask him."

Xiaobao’s expression shifted to one of pure, piqued curiosity. "Oh," she said, her tone promising retribution. "I will go ask him then."

Yu Xi opened his mouth, likely to tell her to leave Jian Wei alone, but Jian Ci quickly lifted a finger and pressed it to Yu Xi’s lips. He shook his head slightly, his own gaze locked on Yu Xi’s. "This is between Jian Wei and me," he murmured, his voice low and intimate, just for them. "It’s payback."

A reluctant chuckle escaped Yu Xi as he looked away, shaking his head. Jian Ci let his finger trail from Yu Xi’s lips down his chin, enjoying the way Yu Xi’s breath hitched.

"And besides," Jian Ci added, stepping back into Yu Xi’s space, eliminating the distance Xiaobao’s interruption had created. He leaned in, his mouth hovering just beside Yu Xi’s ear, his voice a seductive whisper. "I can spend more time alone with my man. With no interruptions."

"You are too much," Yu Xi breathed out, but his hands were already settling on Jian Ci’s hips, his thumbs stroking circles through the fabric.

"Mm, and you love it," Jian Ci purred. He bit his own lower lip, a deliberately slow, seductive gesture, and then pressed his body fully against Yu Xi’s.

There was no mistaking the hard, insistent length of Yu Xi’s arousal now, or the answering hardness in his own jeans. The thin barriers were a torment. He rolled his hips, a slow, grinding circle that made Yu Xi’s eyes slam shut and a sharp hiss escape his teeth.

Jian Rui sat surrounded by a constellation of floating screens, each one filled with shifting data, maps, and encrypted transmissions. His eyes burned from staring too long, but his mind refused to rest. The call with Thaurion still echoed in his ears, every word dripping with menace.

His father’s fixation on Yu Xi was growing, not fading. Jian Rui had hoped that after that night, Thaurion’s interest would wane, but instead it had sharpened into obsession.

He clenched his jaw. He would never let Yu Xi walk into the demon’s lair just to buy them time. Thaurion had to go. He had to go now.

His fingers flew across the holographic interface, adjusting parameters, refining contingencies. The plan had to be flawless.

The door slid open, and Stannis entered, his aura intense, domineering, filling the room like a storm. He strode over, his boots heavy against the polished floor, and tapped the desk with deliberate force.

"Babe," Stannis said, his voice firm but tinged with concern, "you have been at this for twelve hours. You need a break."

Jian Rui didn’t even glance at him, his eyes locked on the screens. "I want to make sure our plan is flawless. I can’t risk any mistakes."

Stannis sighed, frustration and worry mingling. He circled around the desk, his presence magnetic, and grabbed the armrest of Jian Rui’s chair. With a swift motion, he turned Jian Rui to face him.

"Stannis," Jian Rui said, exasperation flickering in his tone.

Stannis leaned in, placing both hands firmly on the armrests, caging Jian Rui in. His gaze was unwavering, his voice low and commanding. "I understand. But you need to give yourself a break. You can’t work yourself to death."

Jian Rui’s eyes softened for a moment, but his voice remained tense. "I really can’t afford to right now. We are running out of time. If he persists on Yu Xi, I won’t be able to hold Ah-Ci back, and that will blow the lid on everything. I need to protect them both. I need to protect my family."

Stannis leaned down, his voice low and steady. "Babe, I understand. But you forget... you are not alone. You don’t have to do this alone... I am here with you."

Jian Rui’s eyes flickered. He knew Stannis was reliable, knew he would do anything for him. But the truth was, Jian Rui loved being in control of every detail. He only trusted himself to prevent mistakes. That was his flaw.

And if he wanted this relationship with Stannis to work, it was a trait he would have to change.

"Just listen to me," Stannis said, his tone softening, "and take a rest, okay?"

Jian Rui tilted his head, his voice quiet but deliberate. "Will it make you happy?"

Stannis’ hand rose, caressing his cheek with a tenderness that contrasted his domineering aura. "It will make me very happy."

Jian Rui’s lips curved faintly before he grabbed Stannis’s collar, pulling him down into a kiss. It was intense, hungry, a clash of need and surrender. When he finally let him go, Jian Rui stood, his composure returning like armor.

Stannis touched his lips, feeling the sting where they had been bitten. A smile spread across his face. "Really?"

Jian Rui’s voice was cool, but his eyes betrayed a spark. "If you want me to rest, you have to put me to sleep first."

Stannis pursed his lips, his excitement barely contained, his eyes gleaming.
