One Night With A Mysterious Billionaire (The Heiress's Revenge)-Chapter 38: Do you miss me kitten ?
Raymond completely ignored Damon’s questions and instead turned his attention to Roman, his expression sharp and businesslike.
"We’ll be leaving for Vegas City soon," Raymond said calmly. "You and your people should start making preparations. Be ready at any moment."
Roman’s brows lifted slightly, surprise flashing across his face, but he said nothing. He simply nodded in agreement, accepting the order without question.
Raymond glanced around the room. Everyone looked exhausted. Bottles littered the table, and the faint scent of alcohol hung heavily in the air.
They had been drinking since the night before, and it showed. Even Damon, who usually never looked worn out, had dark circles under his eyes.
Before Raymond could officially end the meeting, his phone buzzed in his hand.
He glanced at the screen and paused.
Lena.
Surprise flickered across his face, but he answered anyway.
"Where are you?" Her voice came softly the moment the call connected. "I didn’t see you when I woke up."
Raymond leaned back in his chair, a lazy smile tugging at his lips. "Why do you want to know?" he asked teasingly. "Is my kitten missing me?"
"Who misses you?" Lena shot back quickly. "I just want to know where you are, and if you’ll be joining me for breakfast."
Raymond chuckled slowly. "Alright. I’ll be back later in the day. Wouldn’t you want you missing me to death now, would I?"
"You wish," Lena scoffed.
The line went dead.
Raymond stared at his phone for a second before bursting into laughter, deep and unrestrained.
The laughter abruptly stopped when he noticed the strange, curious looks everyone was giving him.
"What?" he asked, raising a brow.
"Nothing," they all replied in unison.
Raymond cleared his throat and stood up. "We’ve been drinking since last night. I need rest."
With that, he ignored their gazes and headed upstairs to the room he always stayed in whenever he came around. He took a quick shower, changed, and collapsed onto the bed, falling into a short but deep sleep.
When he woke later in the day, the house was eerily quiet. No voices. No movement. He assumed they had all gone out.
Grabbing his car keys, he decided to drive home.
By the time he arrived, it was already midday. The alcohol hadn’t completely left his system, but his mood was unusually light. Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw when he opened the bedroom door.
Lena was on the bed, crying.
For a moment, Raymond froze, confused. Then his eyes darkened instantly. A dangerous aura surrounded him as a single thought echoed in his mind.
Whoever made his kitten cry would not live to see the next day.
He crossed the room in long strides and sat beside her, pulling her gently into his arms. He cradled her against his chest and began stroking her hair slowly, soothingly.
Lena stiffened in surprise, quickly hiding her face when she realized he was back.
"Why are you crying?" Raymond asked softly, though he was barely containing the rage boiling inside him.
"Nothing," Lena replied in a small voice, hurriedly wiping her tears.
Raymond tilted her chin up, forcing her to look at him. His eyes searched her face carefully, trying to read between the lines.
"Who hurt you?" he asked again, his voice deceptively calm.
Lena shook her head. "I’m fine."
She suddenly jumped out of his arms, nearly falling off the bed. Raymond caught her just in time, steadying her.
She forced a smile, wiping her face clean as if nothing had happened.
Raymond sighed. If she didn’t want to talk, he wouldn’t push. He had other ways of finding answers.
"Where have you been?" Lena asked suddenly.
The question surprised both of them.
Raymond raised a brow, momentarily irritated by the boldness creeping into her tone, but he ignored it.
"I went out with Damon and Liam," he replied casually. "Boys’ night out."
He leaned closer, smirking. "Why do you look so fierce? Are you going to punish me for not coming home last night?"
Lena coughed in embarrassment. "Who said I want to punish you? I was just asking because I woke up and you weren’t there."
Raymond pretended to think. "It’s not the first time you’ve woken up without me beside you," he said slowly. Then his eyes lit up. "Or are you disappointed we didn’t finish what you started last night?"
Lena’s face turned crimson.
"That’s not true!" she replied defensively. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
Raymond, still clearly amused, continued. "Kitten, you personally fought me last night for refusing you. You even tried stripping outside. If you were looking for me this morning to continue from where we stopped last night , I’d be more than happy to oblige."
He reached for her, but Lena dodged him quickly.
Raymond didn’t chase. He simply watched her with a dangerous smile, nodding approvingly.
"Did you forget your promise?" he asked calmly. "We made a deal, and I’m here to collect."
Lena’s expression turned sour as she remembered the deal, the agreement she made with Raymond in exchange for his help with her company.
"You didn’t even do much," she scoffed. "You just made a few comments. I did all the work. If anything, you should be paying me."
"Raymond blinked. "So I should pay you?"
"Yes," Lena said triumphantly.
"Then I’ll pay with my body," Raymond replied smoothly. "Would you like your payment now, or tonight? What time works for you?"
Lena almost choked.
"Do you think of anything other than your third leg?" she snapped.
"Yes," Raymond said thoughtfully. "I think about you too. About when to bend you over. Which position would make you scream my name louder."
He smiled lazily. "See? I’m always thinking."
Lena started coughing again, her ears burning.
"You did promise," Raymond added quietly. "And I intend to collect. Not now, but soon. I expect premium treatment. So better get to work kitten, learn new things on how to please me "
He flicked her forehead lightly.
Lena hissed and glared at him.
Raymond only smiled.
Raymond stood up leisurely, brushing at his clothes as though dusting off invisible dirt. He straightened his shirt with practiced elegance before strolling toward Lena. Without a word, he took both her hands, raised them gently above her head, and bent down. His lips captured hers, slow and deliberate.
He savored the sweetness of the kiss, unhurried, until Lena was left breathless and slightly dizzy. Only then did he pull away, releasing her hands as though nothing extraordinary had happened, he rubbed his finger on her lips and brought his lips to her ear and whispered "I’m collecting my part of the deal tonight, get ready".
He looked at Lena, smiled and turned to head toward his office.
Lena stood rooted to the spot, her heart pounding wildly as Raymond walked away without a backward glance.
Once inside his office, Raymond called Bertha in. He settled into his chair, opening several files he had left untouched since the previous day. Work soon consumed him, his focus sharp and unwavering, until Lena slipped entirely from his thoughts. A knock on the door broke his concentration.
"Come in," he called.
Bertha entered, stopping a few steps from his desk. "You sent for me?" she asked.
Raymond rested his elbows on the table, clasped his hands together, and leaned forward, studying her quietly.
"What happened while I wasn’t around?" he asked.
Bertha frowned slightly, thinking carefully. "Nothing that I’m aware of," she replied, searching her memory to be sure she hadn’t missed anything important.
Raymond exhaled softly and rephrased the
question. "What happened with Lena today? Who did she come in contact with?"
"I’m not sure," Bertha said hesitantly. "I think I’m the only one she spoke with." Her unease was obvious.
Noticing her discomfort, Raymond smiled faintly to ease the tension. "Relax. What did you talk about?" he asked calmly.
Bertha visibly relaxed and explained everything they had discussed. Raymond listened in silence, his expression unreadable. Gradually, understanding dawned on him. He finally grasped why Lena might have been crying, though doubt lingered. He still refused to believe she would cry simply because she heard he was leaving. Surely, she couldn’t care for him that deeply. With a quiet sigh, he dismissed Bertha and returned to his work, once again pushing Lena to the back of his mind.
"Raymond, I made dinner. Will you come eat with me?"
Lena’s voice drifted in from outside his office. Raymond looked up in surprise, pulling the curtains aside to find that darkness had already fallen. What amused him most was that Lena hadn’t stepped inside to invite him. She remained outside, hesitant. He chuckled softly.
"Of course," he said. "Anytime, any day. You don’t need to ask. I’ll join you soon."
He quickly wrapped up his work and went downstairs. He helped Lena set the table before taking a seat as she served the food. He watched her closely, smiling, his lips itching to tease her.
"Is my kitten trying to feed me for tonight’s activities?" he asked playfully.
"Shut up and eat," Lena snapped, flustered. "For once, would you stop talking about, " She cut herself off, cheeks burning. Annoyed and embarrassed, she focused on her food, refusing to look at him.
Raymond laughed quietly. Deciding not to push her further, he ate in silence, a lazy smirk still playing on his lips.
