"Bastard!" Ye Ruozai muttered under his breath, still unfamiliar with the tournament rules. He naturally assumed it was regulated to not bring along a Divine Artifact. Had he known it was a loophole, considering how things were handled in the hall, he would have borrowed one even if he had to. They held back too much because of the rules, letting the Blood Mist seize the opportunity.
"Old Ye, what should we do now?" Pei Jin asked worriedly, looking toward the empty sky in the distance.
"It's a pity neither of us is proficient in Spatial Magic. Wanting to breach the space to offer assistance is beyond our capability. Fortunately, it's Pei Yan, Xiayu, and Old Zheng who went in. You should know their strengths; you shouldn't worry about their safety against Blood Mist for now." As he spoke, Ye Ruozai gripped the hilt of his sword at his waist and looked warily at the other teams around them, "What we should worry about now is how to hold our ground outside without being eliminated, to provide support when they come out."
Pei Jin felt a surge of tension and alertness at his words, "You mean they'll attack us? We still don't know if Blood Mist is dead or alive."
"Nothing is certain, Pei Jin. Don't you understand by now? This is a competition that concerns the future direction of our plane. I wouldn't count on other planes to be kind and follow the rules." As Ye Ruozai said this, his gaze swept towards the Magic Realm team, who were glancing towards them ever since Pei Yan and the others disappeared, "You and I are the best prey in others' eyes now."
Pei Jin understood that Ye Ruozai was right. With three team members suddenly gone, especially Pei Yan, who was the most intimidating presence to others, the two of them from the Investigation Hall quickly became the weakest remaining force in the field. If someone were to choose a target for elimination, they were undoubtedly the best options.
While Ye Ruozai and Pei Jin were worrying about their situation, Pei Yan was standing on a vast grassland, looking up at the flock of crows circling persistently overhead, then at the two Blood Mist members standing before him. He sighed, realizing he faced the worst-case scenario.
"At this point, there's no need to wear masks, is there? Take them off, let me see if there are any familiar faces." Shortly after being dragged into the Blood Mist, Pei Yan saw Lin Daozi and Xiayu getting dragged in too. But after a period of twisted spatial transition and regaining consciousness, he couldn't find any trace of the others. The month-long preparation for a team battle ended with them separated for solo fights, leaving him anxious about his sister and teammates' safety. His emotions stirred, he glared coldly at the two in front of him.
"You must be Pei Yan. Sorry to disappoint, but there are no old acquaintances here. This is our first meeting," a melodious female voice chimed from behind a fearsome Asura mask. The speaker then removed her hood and mask, tossing them aside, allowing a cascade of vibrant golden hair to fall like a waterfall. Beneath this hair was an alluringly beautiful face of a white woman, and she now used her gentle yet suggestive eyes to send a flirtatious glance towards Pei Yan.
"Someone from the Magic Realm?" Pei Yan asked indifferently, ignoring her gaze and forming a long sword with precision.
"Hmph, Pei Yan, do you think only the Magic Realm among the planes has people like me? Don't you recognize your world people?" The woman placed a hand on her chest, pretending to be slightly displeased, coquettishly pouting at Pei Yan as if venting to a lover.
However, her affected demeanor couldn't be maintained the next moment. Just as Pei Yan disappeared from where he stood after she had uttered the words, realizing the danger, she retreated rapidly. But it was too late; Pei Yan's advancing speed was even faster than hers. Practically skimming her body, his sword slashed from various angles like a storm; no matter how she dodged, she couldn't escape Pei Yan's calculations. Within moments, her robes were shredded, leaving more than a dozen gashes on her body until her blood turned into a pink mist when exposed to the air. Pei Yan, wary of the mist, had to slow his attack, providing her a chance to catch her breath and retreat.
"Such an unromantic brat!" After steadying herself and seeing her disheveled state, then checking that more than half of her hair was cut, she turned to Pei Yan in a heated fury.
Switching to an internal breathing system, Pei Yan avoided the strange pink mist, letting his gaze land back on the woman. Noticing that the slashes he had inflicted on her tender skin had already healed as he spoke, he couldn't help but sarcastically remark, "Rapid regeneration, looks like you're with 'Divine Aspiration.' What's your relationship with Suhabaru? State your name, I don't kill unnamed ghosts."
"Hmph, kid, you sure are confident," came the disdainful voice of the other Blood Mist member who had allowed the woman to act freely from the start.
"Not talking? Then don't blame me for being ruthless. I don't have the mood to waste time with you right now." said Pei Yan, raising his left hand to aim at the woman's head for an attack.
"Worried about your teammates?" The white female, after a simple attire adjustment, flashed Pei Yan her previous charming smile. With her robe torn, her graceful and alluring figure was on full display, adding an extra layer of seduction to her following flirtatious move.
Hearing this, Pei Yan paused briefly, realizing his weak spot had been hit. The woman chuckled coyly, mocking with bewitching eyes, "Too bad! You'll never see them in this world again. I am Amendina from 'Divine Aspiration,' the Goddess of Death who will send you to Hell."
Boom! An electromagnetic cannon burst from Pei Yan's palm.
"I've already been to Hell, no need for your help. As for the goddess? Sorry, I didn't see an old hag but a crone," Pei Yan sneered as he charged back in front of Amendina after the cannon shot, slicing his sword across her neck like cutting butter.
Watching the beauty's head roll at his feet, Pei Yan remained skeptical that anyone who entered this tournament would be so easily slain by him. He wasn't relieved but instead heightened his vigilance 120,000 times, sidestepping away from the seemingly lifeless corpse.
As expected, the once enchanting form quickly turned into a puddle of muck before his eyes. This muck rapidly spread beyond its body's limits, extending to Pei Yan's feet within breaths.
