Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 813: Deciding Victory and Defeat
"You won, young lady!" Bedivere looked at Xia Yu, who was sitting before him with a pale face, and then at his own energy form, which was starting to disintegrate and soon would vanish from this world. He said helplessly, "I want to know how you managed to pinpoint my location while wrapped in an iron ball."
"You launched only so many fireballs into the sky. I just needed to remember the general direction where your remaining fireballs were, and it wasn't very difficult to pinpoint your final landing spot." Xia Yu replied candidly, sweating profusely and nearing exhaustion. This attack had nearly consumed all her source energy, and coupled with her previous injuries, she truly was at the end of her rope.
Upon hearing this, Bedivere smiled and refrained from further inquiries. He realized that while he thought he had cornered his opponent, she had also been scheming against him, and this time clearly demonstrated superior skill. This young girl fought through the most challenging moments without using her trump card until she believed she could kill him with one strike—that restraint was proof enough that he lost fair and square. As for the technique that sealed him completely, Bedivere chose not to ask because two of his teammates had already reached his side. As the defeated, he had no right to divulge this information.
"This has been a duel that convinced me heart and soul, young lady. I do hope we have the chance to meet again in the future, though it worries me too, for that might mean we'll cross swords once more. Who knows if by then you'll be even stronger! I still look forward to battling you in my peak condition! Farewell, young lady. Don't rush toward death! Strive to live until the day we face off again!"
"Ah! I'll do my best!" Xia Yu said with a faint smile, her gaze moving past Bedivere, who completely vanished after these words, to fall on Jiaheris and his companion, who had entered her line of sight. She shifted her position slightly to face the newcomers directly.
Jiaheris also looked at the girl whose strength he had initially underestimated. Now she had won the battle and earned the respect of his companion. It was now his own turn. Thinking about this, Jiaheris shook his head, and said helplessly, "You've already defeated Bedivere. If I kill you now, it would go against the knight's virtues, and I'd be beaten up when I meet Bedivere again. But as I said earlier, we're already dead; the rules don't bind us as much as before. Even so, I hope you'll withdraw from the contest, so we won't be put in a difficult position! We can't delay any longer on this mission!"
"Do it now! Whether I live or die is my own choice!" Xia Yu braced herself against the broken wall behind her, stood up shakily, and summoned a longsword to her hand, refusing with determination,
Seeing this, Jiaheris and Boss exchanged a glance and sighed simultaneously, assuming a combat stance. Jiaheris said regretfully, "Since you're stubborn, don't blame us for being ruthless. Xia Yu! I'll end your suffering and let you rest in peace."
"It's you who needs rest!"
As soon as these icy words were uttered, a sudden, chilling voice came from not far behind, startling Jiaheris and Boss into looking away from Xia Yu. They turned together to see a figure flying toward them.
Judging by the armor style, Boss immediately recognized the man as a comrade. He opened his arms, caught the incoming person, and turned to absorb the impact, retreating two steps before catching his balance. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was Gerald, who had been summoned alongside him. Seeing Gerald in such a sorry and wounded state, Boss hastily asked, "How did you end up like this? What happened?"
Gerald couldn't answer his question but coughed up a mouthful of blood. The moment the blood exited, it transformed into source energy and dissipated into the air. After spitting this mouthful of clotted blood, his complexion improved significantly, although he seemed increasingly drained.
At that moment, another figure landed in leaps beside them. Boss looked up and saw it was Lanloste, the one who had summoned them. Seeing him, Boss angrily pursued, "What happened? Where is Percival?"
Furious, Lanloste, already filled with anger, responded even more angrily, "What happened? I want to ask you that too! Why haven't you dealt with this woman yet?"
"What we're supposed to do is none of your business to dictate, descendant of Lanloste. Remember, although you have the ability to summon us, you only have the authority to give orders, not the command to tell us what to do. Who do you think you are?" Jiaheris expressed his dissatisfaction at this reply with extreme discontent.
Lanloste was left speechless. These old monsters he summoned, if they were alive today, would be like ancestors by generation. Each of them had established indelible legends. Their stories were spread among the Magic Realm's common folk, and their images were etched on the church's frescoes. Their words became the truth that all Holy Knights adhered to. Even after their deaths, their souls continued to be revered by believers.
And if not for being a descendant of the Twelve Knights' bloodline, and having been granted the authority by the Bishop to summon five souls of the Round Table Knights to fight during critical moments at the onset, he wouldn't even have the opportunity to issue commands. Just based on his disrespectful remarks earlier, these beings, in their peak state, could easily turn him to dust.
"Sigh! Percival was defeated, his soul returned to the Church!" Understanding his position, Lanloste could only follow his anger with silence, responding in a low tone of sorrow.
"What?" Jiaheris responded with shock. Two Round Table Knights, one defeated and another gravely injured. Though constrained by the summoner's limited ability, their powers were suppressed, but given the scenario of one against three, achieving this result was astonishing, to say the least. And look at Xia Yu, her abilities were already outstanding among the younger generation. Despite that, her battle with Bedivere alone pushed her to the brink of exhaustion.
"Was it him?" Boss assisted Gerald, gazing at the young man who had initially used magic to trap everyone as he quietly inquired.
Gerald nodded in affirmation. Meanwhile, Ye Ruozai, gripping a longsword and appearing before everyone in swift strides, flickered, vanishing from sight. Jiaheris immediately sought his aura to track him down and discovered he was now standing behind him, before Xia Yu.
"Are you alright?" Ye Ruozai, seemingly possessed, finally showed some emotional fluctuation as he spoke with concern.
"Still alive! But in the upcoming battle, my contribution may be limited!" Seeing the reinforcements arrive, Xia Yu finally let go of the breath she had been holding, her body relaxed, and she once more fell back down onto the ground.
