Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 285 - 282: Mrs. Forrester Courts Disaster
The day after Old Master Forrester was discharged from the hospital, Simon Forrester and Sienna Thornton each returned to their workplaces.
Since last Thursday, the two had taken leave to go to Azure Harbor, resulting in more than a week’s worth of backlog; they were both so busy that they couldn’t even spare a moment to drink a glass of water.
Sylvia Langley called at noon, saying that the whole family was going to "The Imperial Court Club" for dinner to celebrate Old Master Forrester’s recovery.
After Sylvia Langley hung up, Simon Forrester immediately called Sienna Thornton, inviting her to attend in the evening. However, Sienna Thornton had received a last-minute urgent case, and since she needed to deliver the complaint to the court by next Monday, she had to work overtime tonight to get things done; otherwise, she’d have to work over the weekend. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Given the sensitivity of the situation, Simon Forrester didn’t want Sienna Thornton and Sylvia Langley to meet, so he let Sienna opt out, thinking there would be plenty of opportunities to dine together in the future.
.
Since it was Friday, Simon Forrester didn’t want to have to work over the weekend, so past six, he was still at work.
Sylvia Langley’s calls were nonstop, and feeling helpless, he ended work early and left the design studio at seven, driving directly to "The Imperial Court Club."
The Forrester Family always dined in the revolving restaurant on the top floor at "The Imperial Court Club."
Simon Forrester parked the car and took the elevator directly to the top floor.
As the elevator doors opened, the usual elegant and quiet atmosphere was replaced; today the revolving restaurant was festively decorated, bustling with noise, resembling a wedding venue with many pink balloons.
Simon Forrester instinctively felt that today the revolving restaurant was booked by a member for a proposal, thinking the Forrester Family wasn’t dining there and had moved elsewhere. He didn’t step out of the elevator, intending to call Sylvia Langley, but suddenly saw her running out with a phone in hand.
She was dressed in a pink-and-purple cheongsam with pressed white patterns, and her medium-length hair, instead of her usual self-styled look, was specially designed, styled into a bun with a Qing era jade hairpin attached.
Seeing her outfit was off, Simon Forrester was about to ask her why she dressed so ostentatiously when the elderly had just recovered from a serious illness, but she forcibly pulled him into the restaurant before he could speak.
Inside the revolving restaurant, surrounded by curved floor-to-ceiling glass, the dazzling traffic of Brimfield shone brightly outside the windows, and festive balloons adorned the entire restaurant. The guests dressed elegantly, resembling a social event, with four large round tables sparsely occupied by men and women around the same age as Sylvia Langley.
Simon Forrester initially thought they were distant relatives of the Forrester Family, but upon closer inspection, he recognized only a few of Sylvia Langley and Zane Forrester’s friends; the others he didn’t know at all.
This felt more like a gathering of Zane Forrester and his wife’s friends rather than a celebration for Old Master Forrester’s discharge from the hospital.
Simon Forrester walked in suspiciously, and the guests rose to congratulate him, making him feel even more uneasy. He was about to pull Sylvia Langley aside for answers when Nina Sinclair, along with her parents and some people he didn’t recognize, walked in from the door.
The Sinclair Family’s parents and Nina Sinclair were dressed very formally.
Simon Forrester seemed to have guessed what was going on, his face darkened, and he pulled Sylvia Langley aside, whispering, "Why is the Sinclair Family here too?"
Sylvia Langley smiled happily, saying, "You know Mom and Dad have always been close to the Sinclair Family. We’ve been back for quite a while without inviting friends, so we decided to gather everyone tonight."
Her explanation was seamless, but Simon Forrester still sensed something strange. He worried that Nina Sinclair’s presence might lead to some unexpected event later affecting his relationship with Sienna Thornton, so he planned to leave, intending to explain things to Old Master Forrester later.
He turned and was about to leave when Zane Forrester supported Old Master Forrester, followed by Grandma Forrester and Thomas Reed’s family, and several people walked into the restaurant from outside.
Old Master Forrester looked well, his face full of smiles, shaking hands and receiving blessings from everyone.
Simon Forrester suddenly felt embarrassed to leave, knowing that once he left, Old Master Forrester wouldn’t be happy.
He stepped forward, assisting Old Master Forrester to the main seat and sat down beside him, completely ignoring the Sinclair Family.
Old Master Forrester also noticed the Sinclair Family of three seated not far away; his smile faded slightly, then he glanced at Sylvia Langley, who was socializing with other guests, and quietly asked Simon Forrester, "Why is the Sinclair Family here too?"
Speaking, he looked at Nina Sinclair, "Is that girl the one your mom wants to introduce as a daughter-in-law to you?"
