Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 357 - 338: Refusal to Meet
Simon Forrester believed Quentin Thorne must have investigated Melinda Linton, perhaps even secretly watched her from a place she couldn’t see, but why would he ask like this now?
As if guessing the doubt in Simon’s mind, Quentin said, "I know Annie brought her mother over; she mentioned it last time we met."
Simon knew then that Quentin hadn’t investigated Melinda Linton.
Why didn’t he investigate her? Was it fear of seeing an old flame, or simply out of loyalty to his marriage? Simon didn’t know.
"Auntie is doing well now. I can’t say much more; once you reunite with Candy, you can ask her specifically." After saying this, Simon turned and left the Thorne Family.
He went straight to Melinda Linton’s place to find Sienna Thornton, had dinner, spent some time with her, and the two returned to the apartment.
Tomorrow is the third, and they both have to return to work, so after going back, they took a bath, chatted for a while, and then embraced, ready to sleep.
Sienna asked him where he went in the afternoon, and he didn’t hide it, directly saying he went to the Thorne Family. Sienna assumed he was just visiting elders, and didn’t ask more.
-
The next day, Sienna returned to the law firm. She had been away for a month, and Rhonda Wagner and Aurora Buckley were busily overwhelmed, while Nolan Kramer from Forrester Group had significant complaints. Therefore, the first day back to work in the new year, Sienna’s mood was inevitably anxious.
She first went to the Forresters to see Nolan Kramer, then had a meeting with the heads of the legal department, and it was almost the end of the workday when she returned to the firm.
She had just sat on her chair when Rochelle Linwood came in: "A Miss Sinclair wants to see you."
"Which Miss Sinclair? For what?" Sienna pulled over the case files on the desk, planning to work overtime, "Do you have plans tonight? If not, stay and work overtime with me."
Rochelle nodded: "I can stay overtime tonight. Miss Sinclair said her name is Nina, and she’s looking for you for personal matters."
Sienna’s hand paused for a few seconds while flipping through the files, took a moment to react, then recalled Nina was Simon’s former subordinate, the one Sylvia Langley favored as a daughter-in-law candidate.
She didn’t hesitate, her tone rigid: "Not seeing her! Tell her to leave!"
Already bothered by piled-up work and being sourly criticized by Nolan Kramer at the Forresters earlier, now both her expression and her tone were unpleasant.
"Okay." Rochelle closed the door and left.
Sienna went back to work.
.
As dusk settled outside, Sienna and Rochelle were working in the small meeting room when someone suddenly knocked on the door.
Rhonda Wagner’s fresh and fair face peeked in, teasing: "Lawyer Thornton, you may not be in a rush, but don’t delay Lynch’s date!"
Seeing him, Sienna couldn’t joke, quickly calling him in: "Rhonda, you’re just in time. How is Jane Jefferson’s case going?"
Rhonda’s smile immediately faded as he walked in, sat on a chair in the corner of the meeting room, and said helplessly, "Insufficient evidence, case dismissed."
This answer was within Sienna’s expectations, so her emotions were relatively stable. She pondered a while and asked, "What about the Bar Association?"
"The Bar Association is still investigating." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Sienna nodded: "Hmm, even if we can’t imprison her, revoking her license is good. Such a person shouldn’t be a lawyer!"
Rhonda said, "I’ll continue to follow up on this matter and notify you immediately if there’s any news."
"Okay."
After Rhonda left, Sienna continued working overtime until after nine o’clock before leaving.
When going to the parking lot to get her car, a petite silhouette suddenly emerged from beside her car and blocked the driver’s door.
Sienna jumped in surprise, and her day-long anxious mood exploded when she recognized the person: "Didn’t I tell you to leave? Why are you still here?"
Nina looked unwell, having lost significant weight, not as plump as before, making her appearance somewhat better.
Sienna stepped back, defensively watching her.
"I heard you and Cyrus are getting married?" Nina asked, her eyes red.
Sienna frowned, looking at her without speaking.
Nina sniffed, biting her lip, "Lawyer Thornton, why are you doing this? Knowing I like Cyrus, why are you taking him from me?"
Sienna: "..."
"Cyrus and I grew up together; we even had an engagement party. Relatives and friends know I will marry Cyrus in the future... You’re the other woman! Shameless!"
Nina suddenly lunged at her, trying to slap Sienna. Fortunately, Sienna was quick to react and raised her arm to block.
Nina continued attacking, while Sienna retreated defensively.
She avoided physical contact with Nina, so she kept backing away, but Nina kept advancing until she cornered Sienna.
Nina ripped off the pin from Sienna’s coat button, screaming, "These were all originally mine! It’s you! You took my things!"
Sienna sensed her abnormal emotions, didn’t want to argue, and calmly extended her hand: "Give me back the brooch!"
Nina raised the pin in her hand, sneering: "You want this, right? Fine, let’s meet tomorrow, hear me out, and I’ll return it to you!"
After speaking, she turned to her car, opened the door, and got in.
Sienna got anxious, chased after her, banging on the window, pulling the driver’s door handle, hoping to retrieve the pin: "Return it to me! Or I’ll call the police!"
But inside the car, the person remained unmoved, turned to smile at her, started the car, and drove out of the spot.
Sienna immediately retreated, got into her car, quickly started it, and chased after Nina’s car, out of the law firm’s parking lot...
.
At eleven o’clock, Simon was working in the study. Seeing Sienna at the door with a gloomy face, he stood and asked, "What’s wrong? Have you eaten?"
Sienna, heavy-hearted, walked in, tossed her bag on the sofa: "Nina came to the law firm today, sought me out after work, called me the other woman, and took the pin."
Simon approached, leading her to sit on the sofa, comforting, "I’ll go get it back for you tomorrow. Don’t be mad."
"No!" Sienna, agitated, "Don’t go see her! That’s her purpose! I’ll have your mom get it!"
She said, picked up her phone, and texted Sylvia Langley. She naturally didn’t detail her conflict with Nina, only mentioning that Nina took the pin for certain reasons.
It’s afternoon in Franland, Sylvia quickly replied, saying she’d handle it.
Still, Sienna felt unsatisfied, angrily sitting on the sofa, complaining, "I really! I really! This morning, Nolan sourly criticized me at the Forresters; in the evening, Rhonda said Jane’s case was dismissed! And now, this Nina came out, calling me the other woman, took my pin, what a day I had?!"
