Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 140: Overcome With Regret
Ryan Ford spoke quickly and finished all at once.
Although, he was acutely aware that Scarlett Shaw, even during their breakup, was not as upset with him; ultimately, the depth of their feelings differed.
But he was just not willing to let it go.
Unwilling to accept that even though he had known her longer, he lost her so completely.
Julian Ford glanced at Ryan Ford as he turned on the signal light, and said calmly and distantly, "Now you’re all about considering her feelings, but what’s the difference between that and waiting until the baby is dead to offer milk?"
Ryan Ford’s expression froze.
Julian Ford said, "She reunited with you when she was eighteen. It’s been six years, and you’ve never cherished her properly. Now you’re claiming justice in front of me, you really should have your head examined."
Ryan Ford: "..."
"Regarding my relationship with Scarlett Shaw, I never intended to hide it. As for whether the Ford family is aware, and when they find out, that’s something I’m considering, not something for you to worry about. What you need to do is keep your mouth and actions in check, don’t wander around her and cause trouble. Also, about Anna Ford—"
Julian Ford paused, his expression deepening slightly.
"Continue your investigation, but don’t take any unauthorized actions. Any news must be reported to me."
These words left Ryan Ford speechless.
It wasn’t that he conceded, but he was genuinely surprised at how much thought his brother seemed willing to put in for Scarlett Shaw, more than he had imagined.
Ryan Ford struggled for a while and reluctantly said, "Investigating Anna is my personal business. Why do you have to involve yourself in everything, brother?"
"This is an instruction, not a request for your opinion."
Julian Ford gave him a cold glare.
Ryan Ford wanted to retort, but facing Julian Ford’s cold and deep eyes, he swallowed his words. In the end, he neither nodded nor rejected, only said, "What about Scarlett then? I promised her to share information."
Julian Ford: "If you tell me your news, won’t I share it with her?"
Ryan Ford: "..."
He felt as if his brother was using his power to keep him away from Scarlett Shaw.
While Ryan Ford was pondering whether he was unwittingly playing into his brother’s hands, the car suddenly stopped, and Julian Ford coldly threw out two words:
"Get out."
Ryan Ford glanced outside the car, feeling a bit aggrieved, "Are you really going to drop me off in the middle of the street?"
Even though they fought, Ryan Ford still felt a deep sense of loyalty towards Julian Ford, his half-brother. Stealing his admired girl was one thing, but surely he wouldn’t discard him too.
Julian Ford’s patience was exceptionally low tonight, his face particularly cold. Seeing Ryan Ford not moving, he frowned, "What, do you want me to personally take you home?"
Ryan Ford: "Brother, your temper is really a bit too much. Let me tell you, being tough won’t win Scarlett back, she..."
Before Ryan Ford finished his sentence, Julian Ford directly kicked him out of the car.
"Brother!!"
Ryan Ford barely managed to keep his balance after nearly falling on his butt. But as he stood, he saw the black Bentley already speeding off, its tail pipe smoke quickly dissipating.
Ryan Ford: "..."
...
Scarlett Shaw got out of Skyler Miller’s car and walked into the neighborhood. Just as she arrived downstairs at her apartment building, she saw Julian Ford standing under a streetlamp.
The scattered light and sparse star shadows.
The man’s tall and deep face bore recent bruises but his demeanor was calm, as cool as the moonlight. Even though he was injured, he didn’t seem the slightest bit disheveled.
Scarlett Shaw’s gaze lingered on Julian Ford for merely a second, but he had already started striding towards her.
The distance closed.
What Scarlett couldn’t shake from her mind was the scene in the Veridian parking garage earlier, where she tearfully accused him.
She really— 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Regretted it terribly!!
Their emotions were already unevenly matched, and now she had completely lost control, acted like a bomb truck, exposing everything.
Given Julian Ford’s manipulative nature, he’d likely use it against her yet again.
When Julian Ford stopped in front of her, Scarlett Shaw calmly reigned in her nervousness and naturally met his dark eyes.
Her almond-shaped eyes carried a hint of a smile, just like that night, distinctly divided.
"Why are you here again?"
She was clearly smiling, but there was an undercurrent of coldness.
Julian Ford’s expression paused slightly.
Scarlett Shaw’s smile was still a piercing sight for him.
But he did not respond like that night, by coldly observing and lashing out with harsh words that hurt both of them.
Instead, he spoke calmly and patiently, "About what I said this morning to Ethan Ford, regardless of the reason, if it upset you, that’s on me. I apologize."
Scarlett Shaw was a little taken aback.
After she returned from Cloud Harbor, she heard a snippet from Skyler Miller about the overt and covert struggle between Ezra Ford and Ethan Ford.
So, even though she was angry at the time, upon reflection, she guessed that Julian Ford had his reasons and was being cautious.
However, the underlying reason was essentially the same as the argument they had that night. Even if he explained, it wouldn’t resolve the problem. Even if it were repeated ten thousand times, hearing her boyfriend say he was single would always anger her.
She initially thought that he would repeat the same old routine, explaining to her, asking her to be reasonable and understanding.
But she didn’t expect Julian Ford to actually apologize first.
However, had he said this on that night, or if she had sought him out that morning, Scarlett might have softened and accepted it.
But now, she was truly exhausted.
Utterly bitter.
"Are you done talking?" Scarlett looked at Julian Ford, her tone light, "If you’re done, then leave. I don’t really need your apology anymore."
She was about to leave, but Julian Ford held her wrist.
The grip was gentle, yet she couldn’t shake it off.
Julian Ford lowered his eyes to look at her, calmly asking, "Whatever I say now, you won’t listen to, right?"
"Yes."
Scarlett met his dark eyes, striving to let coldness seep into her almond eyes, but the words she spoke still quivered.
"Julian Ford, you can continue to say that I have no reason to be angry, but let me tell you, this is a part of me. I can like you a lot, but I won’t change my fundamental self just because I like you. If you can’t accept this part of me, then find someone else, your custom lover."
"And to be clear, whenever I am angry, regardless of whether I’m right or wrong, I will throw a tantrum. If I don’t, the nodules found in my last examination will only grow larger, I cherish life anyway, I don’t want to get sick, and I absolutely won’t change."
The arrogance Scarlett feigned in this tirade didn’t result in Julian Ford’s aura turning icy.
Only his calm, water-like face, upon hearing her last words, showed a subtle deepening of his gaze.
He said softly, "You can keep being angry with me, but first take me off your blacklist."
"I refuse."
Who removes someone from a blacklist in the morning only to bring them back at night?
Doesn’t she care about her dignity?
Julian Ford pulled her closer, one arm encircling her waist, his voice lowering, carrying a hint of gentleness, "If you don’t add me back, how can I soothe my girlfriend?"
