The Vampire's King Pet-Chapter 48: Luminae
They went to a nearby inn to rest and the next day they continued their journey, Thankfully there wasn’t any more ambush or attack. They got to Luminae, the fae kingdom and it was nothing compared to what Serena was thinking.
Luminae was a kingdom of the faes—a mystical creatures known for their pure soul and powers. Their magic was almost that of a witch but on the divine side. Entering the kingdom which was covered by a transparent dome, it looked like something out of a fairytale, the streets, everythung was bright, filled with lush green every where.
Their houses were built different, with wood from trees which gave it a more distinct beautiful look, one thing Luminae was known for, was their mother nature kingdom, the air was pure and they had a fountain at the center of the kingdom, it was been there for a very long time, flowing with natural water.
Serena could only marvel at the beauty of what she saw through the window, she saw a few faes, they were different from herself a mermaid, the vampire’s and even witches. They has their distinct looks, very pretty, pale white skin and hair like silk.
The carriage stopped in front of the Luminae castle and they stepped out. Serena jaw dropped by the beauty of the castle, the walls were white marble with has a glitter, detailed and beautiful. It was a very fine contrast to Akexander’s palace.
The guards bowed and the large gate opened revealing the fae king and queen.
"Welcome King Alexander, I didn’t think you would make it." The fae king greeted with a light bow to which Akexander nodded to. The king and queen were epitome of elegance and royalty, the queen was very beautiful, her pale white skin and light green eyes, her blonde hair was long and shiny adding to their beauty.
"I had to." He said calmly.
The queens eyes moved to Serena. "Who’s she? I’ve never seen you travel with a woman before?" She asked curiousity in her eyes
Serena wanted to say something but Alexander cut her off. "This is Serena, a guest of mine." He said keeping things short.
The queen smiled. "Welcome to Luminae Serena, I am queen Valerie and this is Calyx." She introduced and Serena smiled, she bowed respectively. "It’s a pleasure to meet you your highnesses." She said.
"Come in, we already had the guests prepare the rooms." Valerie said with a smile as she walked further making Alexander and Serena also walk in. Serena could only stare at everthing, the palace was so grand and really bright.
The guards took Alexander and Serena to their rooms, the room was big and beautiful, king size beds, a wardrobe and everthing necessary. Serena looked out the window, she could see a little fragment of the city. This was her first time hearing of the creatures Faes and she wanted to know more about them.
Serena took a shower and changed into a teal green dress long dress, she packed her hair in a ponytail and just stared at herself in the mirror. There was a knock on the door and Serena opened it to find a maid.
"The fae queen asked to bring you to the dining table, dinner is served." She said and Serena nodded, she stepped out of the door and simultaneously Alexander also stepped out of his room fully dressed.
They walked together to the dining hall.
"Welcome, please have a seat." The queen said with a smile gesturing for them to sit and they did, Alexander and Serena sat beside each other, the food arranged in front of them, they smelled heavenly and Serena couldn’t help but salivate inwardly.
"These are my daughters, Silvia and Cirilla." The queen introduced the girls sitting down opposite them, they bowed their heads in respect, knowing Alexander was the Vampire king and he has a very crazy reputation. They were visibly scared of the vampire king.
Alexander nodded to their greetings, the first girl Silvia who looked like a carbon copy of her mother was almost the same age as Amethyst and the other was younger.
"Enough with the introductions and let’s dive in, King Alexander, lady Serena please enjoy Luminae’s delicacy." Calyx said.
"Thank you." Alexander and Serena both said simultaneosly before diving into their food, Serena took a bite out of the food in front of her, she didn’t know what it was but she had a feeling it would taste good, she took a bite and her eyes widen in shock, it tasted amazing.
Valerie turned to Serena with a smile, she could see the girl visibly enjoying her food and it made her happy. "How is it?" She asked.
"It tastes amazing." Serena replied.
"I hope your journey from Noct to Luminae wasn’t stressful?" Calyx asked trying to break the ice between he and the king, though Alexander was known for his calmness and truly he invited Alexander not just to celebrate his wife’s birthday but to create peace between Noct and Luminae.
Alexander didn’t look up from his food. "Not really, aside being attacked by assassins but they were taken care of." He said sarcastically.
Calyx frowned, assassins on their way here, that was strange even to him. "I hope you know that Luminae has nothing to do with the assassins." He said, he knew Alexander held grudges and if he didn’t clarify his self, it would be the end of Luminae.
Alexander raised his head to look at the king, he smelt fear in his tone which he enjoyed but he didn’t want the poor king to be scared. "I know." he simply said.
Calyx nodded his head. "Don’t be scared, if I was still angry at Luminae I wouldn’t have come here and Luminae wouldn’t stay this peaceful." Alexander replied, there wasn’t any sign of anger in his voice but his tone alone could make anyone shiver.
"Hmm." Calyx only hummed in response.
The rest of dinner was peaceful, with everyone focused on their food. "I hope our food was to your liking?" Valerie asked.
"Very much thank you, we would like to retire to our rooms, we had a very stressful journey." Alexander replied, he was already tired of speaking to anyone, he needed alone time with just him and his thoughts.
"Sure, we do not plan to keep you waiting, tomorrow morning we would give you a tour of our palace." Calyx said.
Alexander signalled the guards and they walked towards them with gifts. "Gifts from the royal house of Noct and from me, wishing you a long dreadful years filled with light." He said, his tone was light.
Valerie laughed. "Thank you and also to your parents, one day we shall visit Noct to pay respect." She said and He nodded.
"We shouldn’t keep you two waiting."
Alexander and Serena offered a light bow before walking away.
"They seem nice, you are not really fond of them." Serena said, she noticed his behavior, though he was always like that but she could tell a little difference.
"I am not fond of anyone execpt myself." Akexander replied and Serena almost rolled her eyes, he’s so full of himself. "Besides, Noct and Luminae had a little beef years ago." He added.
"So this party is like a way of breaking the ice between Vampires and Faes." She said and he nodded.
"How did you end up in Noct?" Alexander asked, she stifened, the question throwing her off guard, what was she expecting, one day he would demand proper explaination and she wasn’t ready for that, at least not now.
Serena cleared her throat. "Um.... My parents were killed and I was captured by a fisherman who sold me for gold coins, they bought me becauss I could swap my tail with legs. That’s how I ended up here." She explained. She wasn’t entirely lying, that was how her story was though there were more details she didn’t add.
"How did they die?" He asked.
Serena swallowed hard, she didn’t know what to say or how to say it, she just walked in silence. She was grateful that Alexander didn’t ask any further questions or demanding she answer his last question.
He just walked with her in silence until they got to the front door to her room, she turned to him. "Thank you for walking me here, good night." She said with a smile.
Alexander raised his hand to touch the corner of her lips, his thump slightly brushing it. "You don’t have to force yourself to smile, I can see through it and I didn’t mean to bring back old memmories." He said.
Serena nodded unable to say anything as he pulled his hand away, she opened her door and closed it making sure his footsteps were away from the door before she leaned near the door slipping down to the floor.
She was sad and excited at the same time, Sad that she could remember vividly the day her freedom as a mermaid stopped and she became a prisoner on land. Excited that she wanted more from Alexander, his touch sent waves of electricity through her, a very unhealthy feeling, she had knots in her stomach.
How long can she keep up being this close to the king?
