Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Enjoy Watching?

He was tall with long legs, standing in Scarlett Shaw’s twenty-nine-square-meter room. Not only did he make the entire space feel cramped, but with his noble demeanor, he made Scarlett’s humble abode seem even more dilapidated.

"Doesn’t Ryan Ford know you live here? Won’t he get you a new place? Never thought of asking him for help?"

Julian Ford remarked suddenly.

Scarlett’s expression changed slightly but she still said, "He has no obligation to solve my personal problems."

If Ryan helped her, it would be his responsibility, but she was just his girlfriend and had no right to demand that from him.

However, the fact that Ryan could watch from the sidelines indifferently, ignoring her living situation for three years, always felt strange to Scarlett.

Ryan was casual in matters of love, but he wasn’t an inattentive person.

Scarlett instinctively glanced at Julian.

Julian’s eyes were sharp, seeing through Scarlett’s thoughts at a glance, and he calmly said, "Want to use me to get back at Ryan?"

"..."

He saw through her that easily, she couldn’t dare.

Scarlett quickly shook her head.

Julian smirked slightly, a half-smile playing on his lips, "Even with him right in front of you, you don’t have the ability."

Scarlett: "You’re right about everything."

Julian and Scarlett hadn’t even bothered to undress before going to sleep last night. Scarlett, being in her own home, had clothes to change into. Julian, bothered by the residual smell of alcohol on his wrinkled shirt, looked unusually displeased.

Scarlett noticed and cautiously said, "I have some of Ryan’s clothes at home, freshly washed. If you don’t mind, I can find them for you."

Julian squinted his eyes, "You want me to wear Ryan’s clothes?"

Scarlett explained, "Aren’t you brothers? Didn’t you ever share a pair of pants when you were kids?"

Julian gave her a cold look, his face impassive.

Scarlett touched her nose, not daring to speak further.

This man was truly hard to serve. Last time at his house, he threw his ex-girlfriend’s clothes at her, and she didn’t complain.

Julian seemed to think of something suddenly and leaned in, gripping her nape, squeezing it lightly. His gaze was calm, but Scarlett felt an inexplicable fear.

Julian: "Ever shared this bed with Ryan?"

?

Scarlett: "I refuse to answer."

Even if things had happened between her and Julian, it was just physical, nothing beyond that.

Scarlett really had no intention of sharing her past with Julian regarding Ryan.

Julian’s grip on her nape tightened.

His calm eyes carried a hint of hostility.

Scarlett was startled, shrinking back a step.

Julian chuckled lightly, released her, picked up his phone from the table, and transferred her some money.

"Go buy a clean set of clothes."

He really saw her as a servant.

Scarlett glanced at the transfer—it was a six-figure amount.

Someone once said women were like clothes; she would scoff at that.

With Julian, sleeping with him for one night was only worth as much as a set of clothes.

Julian glanced at her, "Not going yet?"

Scarlett reluctantly went to the door, paused, and asked, "President Ford, should I buy underwear too?"

Julian’s smile didn’t reach his eyes, "What do you think?"

What could she say?

If she told him to go commando, he might just kill her.

Scarlett went to the nearby mall’s men’s clothing section, picked out a set of clothes, and also bought men’s underwear. It was her first time buying the latter, and her ears felt a bit warm at checkout.

She couldn’t help but recall last time when Julian helped her buy sanitary products; he seemed quite adept at it.

Presumably, he had done similar things for Zoe Sutton.

Scarlett hurried back home to find Julian had already showered, wearing nothing but a towel. The towel was brand new, bought at the supermarket downstairs.

Julian’s physique was truly a sight to behold, incredibly pleasing to the eye.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, taut muscles, clear and perfect lines, with a fair complexion, the sunlight pouring in added a touch of sanctity.

Scarlett glanced at what she shouldn’t have.

Just for a second, but Julian noticed. He approached her, "Enjoying the view?"

Scarlett answered honestly, "You do look good."

Julian’s lips curled slightly, eyes calm, "Do you like looking at me, or Ryan?"

Scarlett was momentarily stunned.

Julian stared at her for several seconds, seemingly realizing the absurdity of the question. They only had a fleeting relationship, talking about anything else was meaningless.

He took the clothes from Scarlett’s hands and went into the bathroom.

When he emerged, he was dressed impeccably.

Julian was a natural clothes hanger; anything Scarlett casually chose looked like a top model’s fit on him.

Scarlett returned the remaining money to Julian.

Julian didn’t accept it, "Escape fee."

"..."

Scarlett: "You can come again for this kind of escape fee in the future."

It was much easier than tending to him in bed.

And it wasn’t a small amount.

Julian gave her a cold look, "Thinking of earning money through crooked paths?"

Big guy! Sleeping with you is more like a crooked path!

Scarlett said obediently, "Serving President Ford is my honor."

Julian smirked, ignoring her, and headed toward the door.

Seeing him finally leaving, Scarlett was cheering inside but remained respectful on the surface, "Take care, President Ford."

She hurried ahead to open the door for him.

Just as her hand touched the doorknob, there was a knock outside, and a familiar, teasing voice came through the security door: 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Scarlett, open the door."

It was Ryan.

Scarlett froze.

Julian had already walked to the door, his expression indifferent, not caring who was outside.

He was about to open the door and leave.

Scarlett stopped him, looking up pleadingly, mouthing, "Hide for now."

Julian narrowed his eyes.

Hide?

Scarlett knew as soon as she spoke that she was being unrealistic. Besides, her place was just a single open space, nowhere to hide.

Making Veridian’s executive director, the eldest son of the Ford family, hide like a fugitive—she might as well be dead.

Julian looked down, giving her a cool gaze, "Move aside."

Scarlett pleaded softly, "President Ford, I beg of you, don’t go out."

Julian remained unmoved.

If it came to force, Scarlett definitely couldn’t stop Julian.

If this man bumped into Ryan, he could just walk away, totally unfazed, without even an explanation.

But Ryan definitely wouldn’t let her off the hook.

Desperate, Scarlett grabbed Julian’s clothing, trying to tug him back.

She stood in front of Julian, her back against the door, in the narrow entryway; their mismatched breaths tangled in the air, calm yet chaotic.

Julian paused his action to open the door, leisurely watching her, with a touch of amusement in his eyes.

Scarlett immediately fell silent.

She was all too familiar with that look of his.

"Scarlett, I know you’re home, open up."

Outside, Ryan seemed particularly patient, leaning casually against the door, a cigarette between his lips, the smoke curling up, lending his alluring face an air of severity.

Inside, Scarlett climbed up Julian’s shoulders, kissing from his Adam’s apple, to his chin, and finally to his lips.

Julian leaned down, pressing her against the cold security door with a firm grip on her waist.

His lips were cold, but his palm was hot.

Scarlett’s ears were filled with the alternating sound of Ryan calling her from outside and Julian’s warm breaths.

As Julian’s lips brushed past her cheek, he suddenly scooped her up onto the shoe cabinet, easily spreading her knees and stepping between them.
