Chapter 19: Chapter 19: You Begged Me

Scarlett Shaw trembled slightly, her jet-black, clear eyes brimming with a mist that made one want to bully her, pitiable and helpless.

"Julian, not now, I beg you."

"It’s too late."

Julian Ford’s voice was low and calm, close to her auricle, with a nasty gentle bite.

"Remember, it’s you who begged me not to leave."

Unsure how much time had passed.

Scarlett Shaw lay exhausted, soft as if boneless in his arms, her arm supporting his shoulder to avoid falling off the cabinet.

Inside and outside the door was utterly quiet.

Julian Ford carried Scarlett back to the sofa, grabbed his phone, and sent a message out.

Then he looked up at her, "Ryan will leave soon."

Scarlett’s eyes filled with powerless resentment, "You could easily get rid of him."

"Mm."

Julian Ford didn’t deny it, his slender fingers dabbed a tissue to clean her up.

"Even the easiest things come with conditions; when you blocked me, you should’ve been aware."

Scarlett avoided his touch and got up, "I’ll clean myself. If President Ford has nothing more, please leave."

She promptly hurried out.

She really had no energy to deal with him any longer.

Scarlett grabbed a clean towel, stepped into the bathroom, but before she could close the door, Julian’s palm pressed against the door frame, easily pushing it open, stepping in with his long legs.

Scarlett was both embarrassed and annoyed, "Julian Ford, can you get out!"

Julian Ford: "Ryan might still be at the door. Yelling so loudly, do you want him to hear?"

Scarlett: "..."

If you hadn’t barged in suddenly, could I yell so loudly?

Julian glanced at her indifferently, ignoring her, wordlessly grabbed a small stool nearby, pressing Scarlett’s shoulder down to sit.

"If you don’t want another round, sit obediently."

He removed the showerhead and turned on the faucet, warm water spraying over Scarlett.

The bathroom was terribly cramped, Julian squatted in front of her, surprisingly did not mess around, and with a sincere-looking help.

Warm steam and the man’s slightly cool breath intertwined around them, Scarlett looked down, meeting Julian’s raised eyes.

Mist spread, warmth rose.

Julian’s dark eyes were deep, like a whirlpool or an endless abyss.

Scarlett felt inexplicably flustered, quickly turned her face away.

Julian: "I’ve seen everything I shouldn’t; why blush?"

Scarlett bit her lip, stayed silent, intentionally waited for Julian to be unaware, then struggled and splashed water on him, wetting the newly changed clothes he wore immediately.

"Dare to move recklessly?"

Julian’s voice cold and deep, carrying a pressing force.

Scarlett sneered, lowered her head, pretending not to hear.

Julian squinted his eyes.

Seems he underestimated her; a cat remains a cat even if pitiful.

Slight carelessness will result in a scratch.

...

Yana Yarrow couldn’t reach Scarlett Shaw by phone in the morning, feeling uneasy, arrived downstairs at her house, coincidentally seeing Ryan exiting the elevator.

Yana frowned slightly.

Ryan’s steps halted, his gaze flirtatious, glancing at her, "Scarlett at home?"

Yana’s face unchanged, "She’s working, I came to pick up something for her."

Saying this, she shook the keys in her hand.

The keys were naturally Yana’s own, just pretending.

But since Ryan asked that question, whether Scarlett was home or not, she clearly didn’t want to see him, sending him away was the best strategy.

Ryan initially planned to linger here, but a sudden emergency in a case required immediate attention.

His expression inscrutable, unreadable whether he believed her.

Yana moved to the elevator.

Ryan: "Who’s the man sleeping with Scarlett?"

Yana was stunned, eyes wide.

Ryan sneered, "She blocked me; tell her if she returns to me now, I can forgive everything, otherwise, face the consequences."

Ryan’s eyes carried a relentless determination, completely opposite his gentle indulgence when dating Scarlett.

Yana went upstairs feeling unnerved.

Scarlett was carried out of the bathroom by Julian, wrapped in a towel, jumped out of his arms, quickly went to the room to put on clothes.

Upon returning, seeing Julian’s soaked clothes clinging to him, she said quickly, "President Ford, I’ll go buy you a new set of clean clothes."

During the shower, Scarlett didn’t consider Julian’s status, acted impulsively.

Now, dressed and rational, she dared not act recklessly.

The door knock sounded.

Yana: "Scarlett, are you home?"

Scarlett froze, her first thought was to look toward Julian, instinctively wanting to hide him.

But upon meeting Julian’s calm and overwhelmingly intimidating eyes, she backed down.

Scarlett’s small intentions were as transparent as daylight to Julian.

He looked at her indifferently, "Can I not be seen?"

Scarlett plastered a smile, "Of course not."

Julian: "Then open the door."

"..."

Scarlett forced herself to open the door for Yana.

Yana saw her and raised her voice, "I saw Ryan downstairs, are you alright?"

Scarlett awkwardly: "I’m fine."

Yana walked boldly into the house, speaking as she moved, "Ryan said you slept with a random man? Scarlett, you didn’t break up with Ryan and get overly sad and stimulated, trying to find a substitute out of anger—"

Random man Julian adjusted his clothes, his demeanor indifferent, calm.

Scarlett felt she’s losing her breath.

She wanted desperately to sew Yana’s mouth shut!

Julian strode to the door.

Scarlett handed him his changed clothes, she had just packed them away, "President Ford, your clothes."

Julian: "Throw them away."

Scarlett: "Okay."

Julian opened the door to leave.

With the door closed, Yana inspected the surroundings.

A trash bin filled with tissues.

Men’s clothes in a bag.

Kiss marks on Scarlett’s snow-white skin.

It was simply.

A complete.

Large-scale, dramatic scene!

Scarlett: "If I say it’s a misunderstanding, would you believe me?"

Yana: "If I say I’m Qin Shi Huang, would you believe me?"

"..."

Under Yana’s pressure, Scarlett attempted to gloss over this extremely awkward and unspeakable relationship.

Yana listened, then after a moment of silence, asked, "Are you sure you don’t have any thoughts of revenge against Ryan?"

Scarlett: "Honestly, I did at first."

But that thought, each time Julian’s calm eyes scrutinized her, disappeared immediately.

She had no skill to play mind games with Julian.

Yana: "Even you had those thoughts, do you think Julian Ford might use your affair to retaliate against Zoe Sutton?"

Scarlett’s heart skipped a beat.

With Julian’s narrow mind, such thoughts would be entirely normal.

Yana: "Ryan downstairs seemed hellbent on a relentless battle with you. Otherwise, more often worship Julian, perhaps he can suppress Ryan for now."

Scarlett remained silent.

For now, she needed to change her house, prevent Ryan from finding her again.

Scarlett acted quickly, contacted a realtor that afternoon, relaxed her rent requirements, found a place, and quickly moved.

Blocked all forms of contact with Ryan.

On the weekend, Scarlett went to the hospital to visit her grandmother.

What she didn’t expect was, upon entering the ward, seeing Ryan accompanying the elderly, smiling gently.
