Chapter 148: Chapter 140: Unrequited Love is the Honey of Youth (Part Three)

Resting on the nightstand, there was a photo of Ji Chicheng and Ji Zhengdao standing together on the peak of a high mountain, wearing identical climbing outfits, the old man’s face beaming with a splendid smile.

Ji Chicheng’s lips also harbored a touch of a victorious smile.

In the warm imagery, Anning’s lips couldn’t help but curl up slightly as well.

"Hiss..."

Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen, and she furrowed her brow tightly, sliding her hands under the covers to clutch her stomach.

This familiar sensation of pain abruptly reminded her of something; she directed her gaze towards the nightstand, where the small alarm clock sat with a date beneath it.

Indeed, it was the day for her monthly visitor!

The pain in her lower abdomen came in waves, sometimes light, sometimes severe.

"Does your foot still hurt?"

After chatting with Xiang Yiqing in the living room for quite a while, Ji Chicheng returned to the bedroom and saw Anning’s face pale, with a sheen of cold sweat on her forehead.

Suppressing his nervousness, his voice deep, he asked her quickly, accelerating his pace towards the bedside.

"Not that." Anning shook her head, and as another wave of pain struck, she gritted her teeth and forced a smile, "I want to go home now. I’ve been away all night; Jingfeng will surely be worried."

As she spoke, she flung back the covers intending to get up.

Ji Chicheng’s face darkened, "Suit yourself. The sooner you roll out, the better."

He coldly responded to Anning and turned around, striding heavily out of the room.

Every time her period arrived, it was like this, several hours of pain so intense it was as if she were dying. Anning was in so much pain she couldn’t even straighten her back, and with her foot hurting as well, she couldn’t concern herself with Ji Chicheng’s attitude.

Now, she only wanted to leave this place quickly. Leaning on the wall for support, with one foot forcing herself to move despite it being tremendously difficult, she could only bite her lip and endure.

Finally making it out of the bedroom, she leaned against the door frame, gasping for air in heavy breaths, her hand touching the sweat on her forehead.

"Your family is here, isn’t it?"

Suddenly, a gentle female voice came from the doorway, catching Anning by surprise. She looked over.

The woman’s gaze also met hers, the other’s eyes too confident, too open, that she conceded without a fight.

Anning lowered her eyes, took a couple of seconds to compose herself, and then looked back, only to see the woman had already walked in, wearing an orange blouse that complemented her fair skin beautifully. She had a slender, tall figure with curves in all the right places.

"Anning Ji."

Anning had just managed a small smile, preparing to say hello, but the other woman took the initiative and spoke first.

In contrast, she seemed much more homely.

"Teacher Cao."

Anning nodded slightly to the woman who had just entered, then turned to look in the direction of the sofa where Ji Chicheng was sitting. In front of him lay two open laptops and a pile of folders, looking very busy.

He was intently focused on the computer screen, paying no heed to the visitor.

Perhaps between them, there was no need for courtesy anymore.

Anning thought bitterly. Cao Muyun had already approached her, looking down at her foot, "What happened to your foot?"

"I just twisted it a bit. It’s nothing serious." Anning pulled her thoughts back, smiled at Cao Muyun, and said, "I’m going home now. Goodbye, Teacher Cao."

With that said, she picked up her foot and moved towards the main door.

With each step, her body would jerk, the pain piercing to the bone.

Her limping gait, however, conveyed a stubborn determination just the same.

As he escorted Anning to the front door, Ji Chicheng suddenly stretched out his hand and pushed the pile of papers from the desk to the floor.

With a loud ’whoosh’.

Cao Muyun was startled, her mouth agape as she looked at Ji Chicheng’s face, which seemed to have frosted over.
