Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 227 - 221 I Miss You! (13)
Seeing him like that, Ji Anning didn’t dare to continue. She pressed her lips together, feeling a sense of loss, and redirected her gaze back to lay flat and stare at the ceiling.
Though she felt disheartened, she didn’t blame Ji Chicheng because that was just the kind of person he was, someone who wouldn’t even bother to pick up a fallen oil bottle.
Oh, what should I do? What should I do now?
How is Mom’s health? I wonder if Jingfeng managed to successfully take her away from Garden Island. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
The more Ji Anning thought about it, the more unsettled she became, her heart going out to Yang Yufang, her mother who had treated her like her own daughter from childhood; teaching her piano, teaching her to read, reading bedtime stories to her... doing everything possible to give her the care and attention a normal child’s childhood should have.
In her heart, regardless of whether or not she could be with Jingfeng in the future, she would always be her mother.
Unless she refused her.
But now her life hung by a thread, and she felt utterly powerless to help, tossing and turning restlessly.
"Ji Anning, can’t you say something nice to coax me?"
Ji Chicheng’s voice suddenly rang out. Ji Anning frowned and replayed Ji Chicheng’s words in her mind.
Can’t you say something nice to coax me...
He meant if she said something nice to coax him, he would help her. Realizing this, her eyes lit up, and she immediately turned toward the man sitting emotionlessly in the recliner.
Her eyes shimmering with excitement, "Uncle, you’re the best. Please, please help me."
If he was willing to help, then her mother could leave Garden Island with dignity and receive treatment at the hospital.
"Don’t like to hear that, say something that I love to listen to." Ji Chicheng gave Ji Anning a very dissatisfied roll of the eyes and arrogantly shifted his gaze back to his computer screen.
His long, attractive fingers operated on the computer’s touchpad, engrossed in his work.
"Uncle, I know you’re a good person." Ji Anning felt that lying down was not sincere enough, that it was not adequately showing her earnestness, so she grabbed the corner of the blanket, flung it off, and prepared to get up.
Sensing her movement, Ji Chicheng’s tall figure swiftly rose, his long legs taking large strides, his commanding presence startling Ji Anning so much that she quickly lay back down and covered herself with the blanket.
Ji Chicheng walked to the edge of the bed, approached and looked down at her from above, his handsome face still expressionless, "No, I’m a bad person, I’m a demon, and you know that better than anyone."
His face and voice seemed cold, but to Ji Anning, it sounded wicked in some strange way.
She even felt like she was being teased.
Yet he still maintained that aloof, high-and-mighty demeanor, cold and noble with a touch of haughtiness.
Ji Anning stared at Ji Chicheng, unable to grasp his thoughts, his emotions, so she was very cautious.
"Although Jingfeng doesn’t want me anymore, my mom has been truly good to me. She has raised me with the kindness of a parent, treated me like a daughter. I want her to be healthy, to live a good life."
Not sure what nice things he wanted to hear, she simply expressed her heartfelt concerns; she was truly worried.
Ji Chicheng’s face softened almost imperceptibly, and he looked at Ji Anning with a probing gaze, "It’s not because of Ji Jingfeng, is it?"
"Huh!" Ji Anning was stunned, not understanding why Ji Chicheng would ask such a question.
So she lay there, looking up at him with her bright black eyes, unwavering and filled with confusion.
Ji Chicheng’s expression immediately turned cold again, "What kind of nice words are these?"
To Ji Anning, it seemed he was still unwilling to help, with not even a hint of softening.
