Chapter 251: Chapter 245: Come Over for a Hug (Part 7)

It didn’t matter; he had waited for many years, and finally, the day that she belonged to him had come. She was already in his embrace, so why should he rush this moment?

Once his mother had picked up, Ji Anning brought the phone to her ear, "Mom, a friend from Hai City came over today. I’m having dinner outside with her, and I’ll be home late. You don’t need to call me."

"Mm, I know."

After explaining to her mother, she hung up the phone and Ji Anning was no longer preoccupied.

A friend?

The man in the driver’s seat, hearing Ji Anning introduce him as "a friend" to her mother, furrowed his brows in dissatisfaction.

Although he couldn’t think of a better status to introduce himself, it still made him uncomfortable.

At T University, everyone referred to her as the Ji Family’s young mistress and said that Ji Jingfeng was her fiancé, yet he was only "a friend."

However, he didn’t say anything; he just continued driving, but in the deep black of his eyes, a cunning gleam grew more and more evident.

Clearly, it was a plot flickering.

After ending the call with her mother, Ji Anning lowered her head and listlessly scrolled through her phone, having developed a habit of deleting text messages and WeChat chat logs because of the immoral and unprincipled Ji Ruoqian.

She opened WeChat, found no messages, scrolled through Moments, and then opened her text messages.

’I miss you!’

Upon opening the message, the top number was labeled ’demon’. Ji Anning felt a slight tremor in her heart, then she lifted her head to look at the man in front, her dark bright eyes gleaming.

When had he sent this to her? Why hadn’t there been any notification?

Ji Chicheng was driving and didn’t look at her. She stared dreamily at him for a while, then withdrew her gaze and continued staring at the phone screen.

Her slender fingers gently opened the message, the emotions in her eyes vanishing in the next second.

Damn, it wasn’t from him; had she sent it to him?

When? Why didn’t she know?

Ji Anning struggled to accept the reality as she checked the time the message was sent; it was past eleven o’clock last night.

Her mind began to replay the events of last night; she was lying in bed, unable to sleep as she thought about him, repeatedly drafting text messages to send but never mustering the courage.

And then... there shouldn’t have been an "and then" at all.

’Why did you suddenly come?’

’You said you missed me.’

She just realized, when she called to say she missed him, he was already there.

So... she had sent him a text message, probably sending it by accident when heaven saw how heartbroken she was in missing him and took pity on her.

After all, having already told him ’I miss you’ to his face, what did one more confessional text message matter?

Thinking this, Ji Anning clutched her phone tightly and gathered the courage to look up at the man in the driver’s seat, his face softened by the dim light, making her heart melt.

"Uncle, did you fly back from N City?"

Grandfather and Xiang Yiqing both said he had gone back to M country, so he must have come from M country, right?

Ji Chicheng nodded and hummed in affirmation.

Though she had already guessed, his nonchalant response still made Ji Anning’s heart flutter, all because of a text message, three simple words, he crossed oceans to come to her.

If they weren’t in the car right now, she would definitely hug him and hold on tight.

"Uncle, last night I truly missed you a lot." Ji Anning leaned her head against the passenger seat backrest, gazing deeply at Ji Chicheng.
