Chapter 252: Chapter 246: Come Over for a Hug (Part 8)

Ji Chicheng turned his head and glanced at her coolly, "Did you speak sweet nothings to me in the car because you wanted me to kiss you in here?"

Ji Anning was speechless and chose to remain silent.

Time passed without her knowing how long, and they had completely reached the suburbs of City C. There were no tall buildings on either side of the road, only occasionally passing by factories.

Ji Anning woke from a nap, yawned continuously, and looked ahead with teary eyes. She saw an area flickering with lights and a cluster of houses, none of them tall.

The tallest building had the words ’Scarlet’ on top, shimmering in an understated luxury.

It was obviously an entertainment venue.

Ji Anning’s intuition told her that this was their destination.

Sure enough, the car slowed down at the entrance to ’Scarlet’ and drove inside. They hadn’t reached the splendid main entrance yet when a door attendant respectfully came forward to greet them.

Ji Chicheng smoothly parked the car, unbuckled his seatbelt, and the attendant outside helped him open the door.

He elegantly emerged from the car and then calmly opened the rear door for Ji Anning, standing outside, patiently waiting for her to get out.

Ji Anning dared not make him wait long, hastily getting out of the car.

Scanning the palace-like luxurious house before her, she asked Ji Chicheng with confusion, "Uncle, why would Doctor Xiang ask you to dine in a place like this?"

Just the name ’Scarlet’ made it sound flamboyant, akin to those extravagant wealthy young masters, a place where spoiled young heirs would spend their time.

It wasn’t fitting at all for all of them to dine together.

It seemed more suitable for Qi Helian.

"I plan to eat up his yearly salary," Ji Chicheng, grabbing Ji Anning’s wrist and leading her toward ’Scarlet’s grand entrance, said.

A year’s salary... Ji Anning’s mouth twitched; this was too extreme.

A single meal costing someone a year’s salary—she couldn’t stomach it.

"Welcome to ’Scarlet’."

Upon entering the building, two beautiful receptionists bowed respectfully to them.

Only then did Ji Anning realize they were in a public place. Instinctively, she withdrew her hand from Ji Chicheng’s grip and stepped aside.

She created a distance between them.

This act evidently displeased Ji Chicheng, very much so. He stopped in his tracks, frowned at her, and said coldly, "Ji Anning, I’ll count to three, and if you don’t come here, I’ll come over and kiss you."

With that, he didn’t give Ji Anning a chance to voice her opinion and immediately started counting, "One...two...three..."

"Uncle."

Ji Chicheng’s "three" had just formed the shape of his mouth when Ji Anning’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest. Not daring to hesitate, she rushed over, wrapped her arms around his, gave a quick glance around the lobby, spotted the elevator, and dragged Ji Chicheng toward it, "I’m hungry, hurry up and take me to have something delicious."

Just as the nearest elevator arrived on the ground floor and the doors opened, they both stepped inside.

Ji Chicheng pressed the floor button, then the close-door button. Just as the doors were about to close, they suddenly opened again.

A tall, slim figure entered the elevator, carrying a faint, ethereal fragrance.

Ji Anning looked up, saw a familiar handsome face, and opened her mouth in surprise, hesitating for a moment. She didn’t greet the person but instead stepped back to stand behind Ji Chicheng.

Then she whispered in complaint, "Uncle, why didn’t you tell me Qi Helian was also coming?"

What should she do? What was she supposed to do?

Ji Anning was anxious and didn’t know what to do, while Ji Chicheng was as calm as ever, lightly raising his eyebrows at her, "Does it affect you?"
