Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 63 Reluctant Cohabitation (Part 9)
As she spoke, she picked up a napkin and hastily wiped her mouth before grabbing her bag and quickly getting up to leave.
Qi Helian himself had called her, setting the time for seven o’clock. Now it was six, and the place belonged to the outskirts of Hai City, essentially the countryside. Taking a cab there would take forty minutes.
Ji Anning thought about it, clenched her teeth, and walked to the corner to hail an empty taxi.
Before getting into the car, she comforted herself with the thought that at least today’s compensation for playing a body double was double her usual rate.
She got into the taxi, closed the door, told the driver where she wanted to go, and then she let out a comfortable sigh of relief.
The phone in her bag suddenly vibrated twice, signaling a message alert.
"I ordered you not to have any physical contact with that scumbag yesterday; you didn’t violate that, did you?"
Ji Anning took out her phone and, upon seeing the content of the message, felt her newly relaxed mood grow heavy again.
She had spent a day and a night trying to temporarily push him out of her mind, and now he was back, refreshing his presence in her life.
Reminding her that she still had a ’demon lover’ whom she couldn’t see.
She didn’t intend to respond, but then he sent another, "Did you have physical contact with him behind my back?"
Tired of the constant harassment, Ji Anning simply replied, "No."
After replying, she inexplicably grew agitated.
Who was this person? The one who had tainted her innocence was a rapist, and was she now acknowledging... accepting his criminal behavior towards her?
Ji Anning, unwittingly, you’ve become so unprincipled.
This way, those who look down on her will only look down on her more, and even she has begun to despise herself.
Resting her head against the car window, she indulged in her melancholic thoughts and ignored the constantly vibrating phone.
"Miss, we’ve arrived."
Having dozed off against the window, Ji Anning was awakened only when the driver called out to her upon reaching the destination.
She paid the fare and got out.
Before her was a village. Ji Anning was puzzled, wondering what kind of film Ji Chicheng was shooting. Could it be about a village official?
The dark cement road lacked streetlights, so she used the flashlight on her phone to light the way.
As she walked, wondering about the film’s plot, her phone suddenly vibrated twice, startling her.
It was another message, still from the ’demon’.
"Why aren’t you replying to messages? Has something happened?"
Ji Anning still didn’t plan to respond and prepared to delete the message after reading it.
"Hey, beautiful!"
Suddenly, there was the sound of a lewd whistle from ahead, and she tensed up, stopping in her tracks to look forward.
Three silhouettes approached her, all male.
Realizing the situation was bad, her feet instinctively retreated as she texted back to the ’demon’, "Looks like I’m really in trouble now, you jinx."
"Beautiful, aren’t you afraid of walking alone so late at night? Where are you headed? Let us brothers escort you."
They appeared determined to have their way, not rushing to attack, but slowly closing in on Ji Anning.
But Ji Anning’s steps hastened as she retreated, her nervous back breaking into a cold sweat.
Out here in the wilderness, not a single car had passed by. If she couldn’t escape, her situation looked bleak for the night.
With that thought, she turned and ran back the way she had come as fast as she could.
"Don’t run."
The men gave chase.
In her panic, Ji Anning’s shoelace came undone. She stepped on it, stumbling forward several steps, nearly toppling over.
Glancing at her feet, deciding there was no time to tie the laces, she shrugged off her shoe and flung it at the men.
