Chapter 70: Chapter 70 Reluctant Cohabitation (Part 16)

Although in her current situation, discussing dignity with Ji Chicheng seemed pretentious, she just couldn’t bring herself to be humble in front of him.

Because he was Ji Chicheng, that...

She knew? What did that mean?

Listening to her tone, it seemed reluctant, and unhappy?

Ji Chicheng frowned, looking at Ji Anning who hung her head in silence, very dissatisfied with her attitude.

Suddenly, a little emotion also stirred within him.

The two sat in silence as the car slowly approached the road that led to the Ji Family, Ji Anning worried that returning with Ji Chicheng might attract unwanted attention.

After the car entered the junction, she said to Ji Chicheng, "Uncle, just stop here, I can walk back."

Upon hearing this, Ji Chicheng’s expression darkened as he looked at Ji Anning.

Her shining black eyes were calm and indifferent. He clenched his teeth and slammed on the brakes hard.

Taken aback, Ji Anning’s body lurched forward, nearly hitting her head. She steadied herself against the front seat, turned her head in confusion to look at Ji Chicheng, still in shock. Her delicate little face turned pale.

"Un..."

She had just opened her mouth to ask him what had happened when Ji Chicheng’s cold voice interrupted her first.

"Get out of the car!"

His tone was commanding.

Ji Anning was stunned, staring blankly at Ji Chicheng. Although the atmosphere between them on the drive hadn’t been particularly warm, it had been harmonious, a rare harmony between them.

So, she was somewhat taken aback by Ji Chicheng’s abrupt change.

"I told you to get out of the car."

Ji Chicheng’s icy gaze swept over her, like a sharp blade crossing over Ji Anning’s heart.

Her heart had never been so hurt.

Without saying a word, she reached out to open the car door and got out.

’Bang’

Still unable to control her emotions, she slammed the car door hard. The ’bang’ told the man inside the car that she too had emotions, she too had dignity.

After getting out of the car, Ji Anning bit her lip, her eyes misting over with moisture, and she quickened her pace.

She walked away without looking back, her figure growing more distant. Her stubbornness, her pride, made him simultaneously love and be annoyed with her.

Ji Chicheng kept a stern face, pushed the accelerator, turned the steering wheel, and made a U-turn.

Then he floored the gas pedal, and the car shot out of the junction at the fastest speed, zooming along the empty road.

Still feeling unsatisfied.

He’d offered her a job, and she replied with just a ’I know’ after half a day. Then, when he was taking her home, and they were almost at her door, she actually wanted to get out and walk back.

And there was more...

Ji Chicheng suddenly hit the brakes and, ensuring it was safe, quickly brought the car to a halt. He turned to look at the back seat.

Those two large cardboard boxes.

His hands on the steering wheel tensed and clenched, a hint of annoyance flickered through his dark eyes.

He opened the door and got out, then opened the back seat, bent down, and lifted a box out, casually tossing it to the side of the road. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

He then grabbed the other one and with the same venting motion, flung it to the roadside.

Still fuming, he walked over, lifted his foot, and kicked hard at the bottom of one box, tearing a big hole in it.

There was nothing inside.

Look at Ji Anning’s competence! To make her his co-pilot, Ji Chicheng had actually done something so childish.

Yet, she still avoided him as if he were the plague.

It was just like before, every time she was laughing happily, the moment he appeared, she would immediately cease smiling.

The moment she was alone, playing with a slingshot, and he appeared, she would instantly put it away and go home.

When threatened, all she knew was to cry, forever presenting him with a face of misery.

Was she a pig?

In Ji Chicheng’s view, he was certainly more promising than Ji Jingfeng. He had given her so many hints, even taken her to his apartment, so why didn’t she grasp the opportunity to cling to his coattails?

(Ha ha, young master, your hints are too subtle. Maybe be a little more obvious. Vote, vote... there will be another update tonight.)
