Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 758 - 750: Using Her Cornea (Part 1)
After a quick rinse in the bathroom, she pouted as she walked over to the dining table, rubbing her wrists, and didn’t immediately sit down next to Ji Chicheng.
Instead, she looked down at him, dissatisfaction clear in her gaze.
Ji Chicheng, puzzled, looked up, "What’s wrong?"
"Beast." Ji Anning gritted her teeth and cursed the man who was pretending to be ignorant, then sat down beside him, pouting and feeling indignant.
As she looked at the sumptuous spread on the table, her cravings were tickled, and she eagerly reached for the chopsticks. However, her hand was sore, and she dropped the vegetable she tried to pick up.
The man next to her watched her with amusement, his smile laced with a thick air of flirtatiousness and teasing.
Irritated, Ji Anning glared at him fiercely, "You’re laughing? It’s all your fault, feed me."
"I only know how to feed with my mouth, are you sure?" Ji Chicheng raised his eyebrows at Ji Anning, his expression blank.
At that moment, he regained his signature aloofness, showing no sign of joking or teasing.
"I’ll eat on my own."
Ji Anning, fearing that feeding would lead to other things, quickly diverted her eyes from his face and started eating with her chopsticks.
This time her hands didn’t tremble, and the soreness in her wrists was gone; she picked up her food quite deftly.
Ji Chicheng calmly watched her, occasionally adding some food to her bowl.
The domestic bliss they’d dreamt of countless times, the scenes they’d fantasized about, were now a reality as splendid as those dreams.
They had fallen in love, braved the storms, and at last, they were in love.
...
The main reason for staying in L city for treatment was really the lack of disturbances, just the two of them, enjoying some time together.
If it weren’t for Charles, the old demon, occasionally intruding unwantedly and spoiling the mood, it would have been perfect.
Ji Anning looked at the standoff between the old and young men across from each other, already fond of that picture. Ji Chicheng wore a cold expression as if he held an unshared deep enmity with the old man across from him. In contrast, the old man remained serene, a smile always on his face, gentle as a breeze.
Of course, his smile was likely hiding a knife eight times out of ten.
She stayed out of their conflict, unless they came to blows; then she might have to take sides.
"I really hope you could stay in L city a bit longer."
When Charles learned that Ji Chicheng was discharged and leaving L city, he came to say goodbye, looking reluctant to part.
"But it’s okay, I just bought a plane and am planning to test fly a long trip; we’ll meet again soon."
Charles kept talking to himself while Ji Chicheng paid him no mind.
Did he mean he was soon going to China?
Ji Anning frowned silently as she watched Charles, the old man, who really seemed to be quite persistent, so entangled with her uncle.
"Boss, it’s almost time."
Their flight was in the early afternoon, and Ji Chicheng’s driver in this city arrived on time to remind him.
"Let’s go."
Ji Chicheng responded indifferently to his driver and coldly shifted his gaze away from Charles. He stood up, walked over to Ji Anning, took her hand, and headed towards the door,
without giving Charles another glance.
Ji Anning looked back; she really wanted to tell Charles to stop disturbing their life.
Forcing him to take his last name was not an act of affection but a display of domineering possessiveness and a twisted competitive spirit.
But his obsession had lasted so many years, so deeply ingrained; it wasn’t something she could change with just a word or two.
Ji Anning thought for a moment, then gave up. As she stepped out of the room, she looked back at Charles one more time. Charles still stood there, watching Ji Chicheng.
