Chapter 759: Chapter 751: Using Her Cornea (Part 2)

A fleeting glimpse revealed to her the envy and yearning that flowed in the depths of his dusky blue eyes.

He was so dominant and proud, his gaze always lifted heavenward, as if he already possessed the whole world, yet he too could feel envy.

Was he envying her grandfather? Envious of the beloved son that her grandfather doted on, borne by the woman he loved.

"You’ve been lost in thought the whole way here," said Ji Chicheng.

Ji Anning stared out the car window, the passing scenery flashing before her eyes, when Ji Chicheng suddenly spoke, pulling her thoughts back.

She turned her head, looked at Ji Chicheng, and asked with concern, "Will Charles do something again?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Ji Chicheng nodded, "He will."

But he didn’t seem to take it seriously.

Yet Ji Anning was very worried. She sighed, "Ah, there’s no telling what he might do. I do hope he can let go—he may be twisted, but he’s also quite pitiful."

She actually found the old man pitiful... Ji Chicheng looked at her with a disdainful slant, "Do you know what you resemble right now?"

"I know," Ji Anning pursed her lips, huffing, "I’ve always had a halo of sainthood around me."

It was clearly self-mockery.

Ji Chicheng was amused by her, his lips curling into a smile, he reached out to fondly ruffle her hair, "Foolish girl."

"Boss, we’ve arrived."

The airport had come into view. At the departure drop-off, the driver stopped the car, reminded them, and then got out to fetch the luggage.

Ji Anning gazed out the window; it was mid-afternoon with perfect sunlight. Having sat in the car for over half an hour, she couldn’t help but stretch her arms, luxuriously yawning.

A face filled with content.

Ji Chicheng watched her, leaning in. Ji Anning turned just then, their noses nearly brushing. She blinked and was about to lean in to kiss him when suddenly she heard a familiar ringtone.

Her eyes dropped to Ji Chicheng’s right pocket in his track pants and she reminded, "Uncle, your phone is ringing."

After speaking, she still pouted and kissed his tempting lips before pushing open the car door and getting out first.

"Have they taken him to the hospital now?"

"What did the doctor say?"

Suddenly, Ji Chicheng’s tense voice filled the car, and Ji Anning’s heart tensed along with it; the smile on her face froze as she looked towards the car.

Ji Chicheng got out of the car, his phone call still in progress.

"I’ll be boarding in an hour."

"Okay."

Once out of the car, Ji Chicheng glanced at Ji Anning, gave a couple of instructions to the person on the phone, then hung up.

Ji Anning hurriedly approached and asked, "Uncle, what happened?"

Ji Chicheng hid his previous anxiety and told Ji Anning, "Fenfen accidentally fell down the stairs and cut her forehead."

Upon hearing this, Ji Anning went pale with anxiety, "Who’s looking after her, is it serious? Is she crying a lot?"

After asking, she looked at her wristwatch. With one hour to go, she grabbed Ji Chicheng’s wrist and started pulling him towards the airport terminal.

She wished she could fly back immediately, to be by Fenfen’s side the next second.

"It’s okay, Xiang Yiqing took her to the hospital," Ji Chicheng patted the back of Ji Anning’s hand and held onto her.

Ji Anning stopped, her eyes reddening as she looked at Ji Chicheng, "Fenfen often falls because of her eyes..."

Before she could finish, Ji Chicheng interrupted her softly, "She will be fine."

With that, he pulled her into his embrace, giving her a hug.

Everything was going to be alright.

...

Ji Anning was on the plane, anxious beyond measure. During the tens of hours of flight, her heart never settled.
