Plunder-Chapter 265 Closing the Net (Part 2)
Zhou Chucheng and Yao Chuman had just left when An Jinhua’s pent-up fury erupted.
He threw everything he could grab around the room.
"Shrew! She’s simply a shrew!"
He cursed loudly while gasping for breath.
If he hadn’t been cautious that Yao Chuman was a woman, he would have wished to punch her to death.
"President An."
The assistant cautiously stood at the door and called out.
"Speak."
An Jinhua stood with his hands on his hips in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his face covered with a murderous aura.
Today, the scene Yao Chuman had caused made him lose all his dignity.
"The project in Yu State has been withdrawn from the tender."
"What happened?"
"When it rains, it pours," An Jinhua said with a frown, his voice harsh.
The project in Yu State had been carefully audited by him with a profit margin of forty percent. An Corporation had designated top-notch personnel to fully manage and follow up, almost guaranteeing a win.
"They responded that at dawn today, all companies participating in the tender abandoned their bids."
This was suspicious.
"Why would they abandon the tender?"
An Jinhua further inquired.
The assistant hesitated and could not pinpoint the reason, "President An, I heard that Nanchen has intervened."
Zhou Jin’an again?
An Jinhua’s breathing intensified once more.
He clenched his fists and violently smashed them onto the desk.
"Zhou Jin’an, even a rabbit will bite when it’s pushed too hard; are you trying to drive me to a dead end?"
However, before An Jinhua could vent out his rage, another worse issue arose.
"President An, it’s bad, really bad!"
The director of the administrative department barged into An Jinhua’s office, his hefty belly swaying.
An Jinhua turned and his glare sent chills.
"President An, the tax authorities are here; they said they want to check our accounts."
Upon hearing this, An Jinhua’s face immediately turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.
"Where are they?"
"They just took the elevator up to the finance department."
Before the administrative director could finish speaking, An Jinhua rushed out the door.
As he reached to press the elevator button, something crossed his mind and he suddenly darted into the fire escape.
He ran down the stairs and straight into the underground parking garage, then drove away from An Corporation.
With his departure, An Corporation instantly fell into chaos.
His phone was unreachable, and no one could find him.
No sooner had he left than news about An Corporation’s tax evasion broke.
Qiao En was doing yoga when she heard the news.
She couldn’t help but be dumbfounded.
The tax evasion at An Corporation reportedly amounted to a colossal ten billion.
With An Jinhua missing, An Corporation’s operations were temporarily suspended.
The collapse of such a massive enterprise truly made one sigh.
In the kitchen, Sister Rong was discussing the matter with Auntie Jiang.
"Oh my God, he embezzled all that money by himself; he truly is a parasite of society. In my opinion, they should arrest him quickly and make him rot in jail."
Sister Rong was filled with righteous indignation.
"Then I’d better call Jin’an right away."
Auntie Jiang said as she began to take out her phone to call Zhou Jin’an.
"Why are you calling the young master? He has nothing to do with An Corporation."
"How can he not be related? If they had business dealings, I need to warn young Zhou to clearly distance himself from such people and also, he must conduct his business with integrity, absolutely without committing these mistakes."
"Exactly, call him quickly; I need to warn him too."
Zhou Jin’an was in a meeting and received the call from Auntie Jiang.
He quickly left the meeting room and answered the call.
"Young Zhou, I just saw the news. Are you alright? You mustn’t ever commit tax evasion, paying taxes is a civic duty, you mustn’t knowingly break the law..."
Auntie Jiang babbled a lengthy admonition.
Zhou Jin’an wasn’t annoyed; he listened patiently to Auntie Jiang.
"Mom, don’t worry, I will be a law-abiding citizen."
After Auntie Jiang finished, Sister Rong took the phone and continued,
"An Jinhua got what he deserved, young master, you must steer clear of such people; he’s a huge parasite of society..."
"Okay, Sister Rong, I’ll heed your advice."
After Auntie Jiang and Sister Rong finished their piece, Zhou Jin’an then asked, "How about the young madam? What is she doing?"
An Corporation had been sealed off; Qiao En should have known about it.
"The young madame is doing yoga, young master, please wait a moment."
Sister Rong said, hurrying over to Qiao En with a mobile phone in hand.
"Young madame, it’s the young master’s call."
Qiao En stopped her movements and took the phone.
"Did you see the news?"
Zhou Jin’an asked.
"I saw it, it was your masterpiece, wasn’t it?"
Qiao En was a smart person, and she knew Zhou Jin’an well enough.
"Yes, but the plan was not perfect."
"Thank you for everything you’ve done for me."
Qiao En said gratefully.
Zhou Jin’an smiled, not expecting her to understand his intentions so quickly.
"Thank me for what?"
"Thank you for all the efforts you made for me and the child; I didn’t expect you to have such a grand plan."
"Wife, it’s what I should do."
After dinner, Zhou Jin’an joined Qiao En for a walk in the back garden, and they talked about the matter again.
"Will An Jinhua make up the tax payment?"
Qiao En asked doubtfully.
The amount was not small. Even though An Jinhua had the capability, he might not be willing to pay. But if he didn’t make up the taxes, he could not escape legal punishment.
"He doesn’t have the ability."
Zhou Jin’an said confidently.
"Over the past year, An Corporation’s strength has been gradually devoured, and now asking him to come up with ten million would probably be difficult."
Qiao En was shocked.
In Rong City, Nanchen Group’s strength could not be underestimated, being a leader in the business world.
And An Corporation was right behind it.
An Jinhua had always been ambitious, continuously expanding his business domains and developing new projects.
Could such a large company have become a mere shell now?
"So, you’ve been waging a war of attrition against him?"
Qiao En realized belatedly.
Zhou Jin’an nodded heavily, "I knew he was always ambitious. He used An Kexin to get close to me, inciting Zhou Ziyan to seize power, all for the purpose of taking over Nanchen. He is a wolf; I cannot leave him any way out, or else the troubles will be endless."
Qiao En did not speak.
She understood everything Zhou Jin’an had said.
Leaving a way out for the opponent was leaving a hidden danger for oneself.
She and Zhou Jin’an had been through too many difficulties; they could not afford any more hurt.
Especially now that they had a child.
Qiao En placed her hand on her belly, where the little one had been particularly active recently.
"En’en, I will protect you and the child, and I will not allow anyone to hurt you both."
Zhou Jin’an pulled Qiao En into his embrace.
"I know."
That night.
A dark figure sneaked into a deserted small courtyard on the outskirts of the city.
"Director Zhou, you should stay here for a while. This is my cousin’s house; his family has moved to the city. This courtyard has been deserted since no one lives here, but it’s safe, and no one will find this place."
The lean tall man who led him here said.
An Jinhua stood disheveled in the courtyard.
He looked toward the bustling lights of Rong City, which were still bright and lively, but now, all that hustle and bustle no longer concerned him.
"Liang, there’s one more thing I need you to do for me."
With a grim face, An Jinhua spoke.
The man called Liang nodded, "President An, just tell me."
"I have fallen to this state all because of Zhou Jin’an’s actions. I’m not in a position to take revenge myself, so I need to trouble you."
"President An, what are you talking about? My life was saved by you, this is nothing. Just wait here peacefully for my good news!"
Wang Liang said as he walked out.
He was a "dog" raised by An Jinhua in secret, known to no one.
Whenever An Jinhua wanted to do something underhanded, Wang Liang took care of it for him.
Wang Liang had highly effective anti-surveillance skills; the crimes he committed were difficult for the police to trace.
However, he had been careless during the warehouse fire that night.
A shoe print was left at the scene.
And this shoe print had been found at the scene of a murder case before.
That night, Xu Mei woke up.
Director Huang personally interrogated her but she stared blankly and refused to say anything.
"Xu Mei, I think you should be very clear about who wants to silence a potential witness. Just speak up, and the police will be able to catch the murderer for you."
"An Corporation has just been sealed, and An Jinhua is wanted by the police for suspected tax evasion. If you know where An Jinhua is, just tell the police, and you can get a reduced sentence for your cooperation."
Director Huang earnestly tried to persuade her for a long time, but Xu Mei just didn’t cooperate, acting as if she hadn’t heard anything.
