Plunder-Chapter 283: Unexpected Events
Hongyan Village.
Qiao En woke up to find herself bound hand and foot.
It was pitch dark around her, and she couldn’t see anything clearly.
But she could faintly hear the sound of someone talking.
"That woman’s too nosy, should we say something to the BOSS?"
It was an old man’s voice.
Then, amidst violent coughing and a heavy sigh before speaking, the man said, "We take people’s money to solve their problems, best not to trouble the big BOSS with such trifles."
"So, what do we do? We can’t just keep her locked up forever, right? She looks like she comes from a good background; if she brings trouble upon us, we won’t be able to shoulder it."
"What’s there to fear? We’re all but expendable. If not for the big BOSS, would we still be alive?"
This person seemed very calm in his words.
Next, the tightly closed wooden door was pushed open a crack from the outside, letting light stream in.
Qiao En looked towards the light and saw a pair of sleazy eyes peering in at her.
"Chen Ge, the woman’s quite pretty, such a pity she’s pregnant, otherwise..."
The man let out a cold, sinister laugh.
Qiao En felt a chill run down her spine.
Hongyan Village was infamously known as the village of bachelors. Located in a remote area, many adult males were unable to find wives, resigning themselves to bachelorhood.
To them, Qiao En’s arrival was a sort of "blessing."
"She can’t stay in our village."
The man called Chen Ge said.
"Why not?" The other man raised his voice. "Don’t you know our situation here? This woman could be a windfall. Why turn away money?"
"Damn it, I said no means no. If you want to sell, wait until she’s had the kid. Sell them separately, big and small, the farther away the better."
Qaio En couldn’t hear clearly what was being said outside anymore.
But she thoroughly understood what those two men were planning to do.
Now, she deeply regretted her impulsive actions from before.
She originally wanted to surprise Zhou Jin’an, she even wanted to mend the rift between Zhou Jin’an and Yao Chuman.
When one person tries to do too much, without considering oneself, that’s when problems begin.
The door, at this moment, creaked open.
Someone walked in.
Qiao En quickly shut her eyes, pretending she hadn’t woken up.
The person’s footsteps stopped beside her, he squatted down and ran his hand over Qiao En’s cheek.
A wave of disgust immediately flooded Qiao En’s heart.
She instinctively turned her face away.
"Fuck, you’re playing dead!"
The man cursed, stood up, and began to unbuckle his belt with the intention of acting inappropriately.
Qiao En was panicking inside, but she tried to calm herself down.
"How much do you want? I’ll give it to you."
The man’s hand paused, "How much money do you have?"
It seemed the saying was true: money talks.
"Five million."
Qiao En inflated the sum considerably.
The man couldn’t believe his ears, "You have five million?"
"Of course." Qiao En said confidently.
"Everyone’s out here for money. I won’t ask who hired you to do this; just release me, and I’ll fulfill my promise immediately." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Why should I believe you?"
The man looked at Qiao En skeptically.
The bait she’d thrown out was too enticing.
They had never seen five million, and if they could get that money, their lives would be set.
"Give me a card number, anyone’s will do, and I can have someone from my family transfer one hundred thousand into the account first."
The man was dubious but dropped Qiao En and quickly walked out.
Outside, the two men whispered for quite some time, and shortly after, both of them entered.
"Is what you said true?"
The older man asked.
"I don’t lie. You do tasks for others for money. I’m offering money to save my life. Besides, enjoying a comfortable life with money is always better than going to jail for a crime against me, right?"
The two men exchanged glances.
"Boss, why don’t we give it a try?"
The younger man could scarcely contain himself.
Qiao En added, "Don’t worry, I won’t call the police. You take the money and go wherever you want. Hongyan Village is so isolated; you don’t want to be trapped in this small place for a lifetime, do you? With this money, you can go out and live the life you desire, marry and have children, start a small business."
Such a life was something they longed for but never dared to believe could be theirs.
Now, it was being offered by Qiao En’s words.
"I have a spare card."
The younger man was already not caring, pulled out a card from his pocket, but the older man stopped him, "Aren’t you afraid she’s deceiving us? If she is, we can only end up in jail."
He was very cautious.
The young one was very bold, "Don’t worry, this card is very safe."
He whispered a few sentences into the ear of the older one.
Soon, the two of them reached an understanding.
"I need a smartphone."
Qiao En said again.
The young one immediately took out his phone.
He stepped forward quickly to untie Qiao En, and she took the phone, logged into the online banking, and accessed her bank system.
The two of them watched her operations throughout.
It was her personal bank account with a total of over three hundred thousand in it. Qiao En keyed in the amount of one hundred thousand, and the young one snatched the phone from her hands.
"Transfer it all."
Green light flickered in his eyes, his emotions highly agitated.
Before him, Qiao En entered the password.
Soon, the sum of money landed in the account of the young one.
He snatched the phone from Qiao En’s hand again and after a series of quick operations, the money in that card was transferred to another account.
"Is this safe?"
The older one asked.
The young one nodded confidently, "Don’t worry, I know this route well."
Once a person’s greed is satisfied even slightly, it expands without limits.
"When will you transfer the remaining money?"
The young one handed the phone to Qiao En, forcing her to continue the transaction.
To them, her existence was like a piece of fatty meat oozing with grease.
"If you send me to Gu Yuan, I’ll transfer it all to you."
Qiao En made her request.
But the two men’s eyes rolled around, and the older one immediately refused.
"No way."
"We can’t harm ourselves because of you. Contact someone now, and take her away," the older one said to the younger man.
"Chen Ge, are you going to give up the meat that’s already in your mouth? Your three sons are all waiting to get married, aren’t they?"
The young one reminded.
Qiao En was very perceptive. She immediately upped the stakes.
"All you have to do is send me to Gu Yuan, and I can promise you five million each."
The temptation doubled.
"Chen Ge, if you’re scared, I’ll go myself. I want those five million anyway," the young one said eagerly.
"It’s better to be cautious with these things. Let’s discuss it first," the older one said as he squatted down and quickly tied up Qiao En again.
"Let’s go, we will step outside first."
He pulled the young one’s arm and walked out.
The door closed once again.
Darkness swept in, and Qiao En was still prone on the ground, utterly clueless about what to expect.
Would the two men be ruled by their greed, or would they settle for that tiny bit of sweetness?
They said they would discuss, but would that be to rapidly sell off Qiao En or to take her to Gu Yuan?
The silence around her was too deep, and her heart became even more disconcerted.
At this moment, Zhou Jin’an and Director Huang suddenly appeared in Hongyan Village.
Every place Qiao En had been was a key search area for them.
The two men, well-informed, immediately turned back and hid Qiao En in the cellar.
The search and rescue team brought by Director Huang turned Hongyan Village upside down but never discovered Qiao En’s whereabouts.
"Director Zhou, it seems she’s not here," Director Huang said with a grave expression.
Zhou Jin’an frowned and looked around, not sure why he felt a premonition that Qiao En was indeed there.
"No, she’s here," he said with certainty.
As Director Huang’s men couldn’t find Qiao En, he called his own people.
As night fell, Zhou Jin’an became increasingly anxious.
"Director Zhou, why don’t we investigate Zheng Gang? There must be something fishy about this person," suggested someone who came along.
Zhou Jin’an nodded, and they immediately began a thorough investigation.
Soon, they found something.
"Director Zhou, just this afternoon, a sum of money was deposited into Zheng Gang’s account. Strangely, it was the Young Madam who transferred it to him."
"Let’s go, to the hospital," Zhou Jin’an said as he quickly headed to his vehicle.
However, when they arrived at the hospital, another unexpected event occurred.
