Plunder-Chapter 285 I Want to See Your Mother
"I want to see Zheng Gang."
Qiao En suddenly made a decision.
At that moment, it was already three in the morning. She immediately rolled out of bed, intending to find Zheng Gang.
Zhou Jin’an hurriedly stopped her, "Let’s wait until tomorrow morning. Don’t go now."
"I must go now."
Qiao En was stubborn, once she decided something, she had to do it immediately.
If Zheng Gang knew about the existence of Wang Chen and Feng Hu, then he must know where that mastermind behind the scenes was.
If someone had already attacked Zheng Gang once, there would be a second time.
Unable to stop Qiao En, Zhou Jin’an could only accompany her.
"You’re pregnant. Let me handle this."
He grasped Qiao En’s hand, and the two left the hospital room.
Zheng Gang was still in the ICU.
The police had stationed someone outside his room.
As Zhou Jin’an and Qiao En neared Zheng Gang’s room, a nurse wearing a mask came out.
She was tall and slender and was pushing a medicine cart out.
The person at the door was immersed in their phone and didn’t notice anything unusual.
Zhou Jin’an and Qiao En met the person at the stairwell.
She was pushing the cart rather quickly.
After they brushed past each other, Qiao En suddenly felt something was off.
That person’s eyes did not seem gentle like a nurse’s.
Rather, they seemed particularly sharp.
"Why is she pushing a medicine cart this late?"
Qiao En asked, puzzled.
Zhou Jin’an became alert, his eyebrows furrowed immediately.
He strode towards Zheng Gang’s room, "Did a nurse go in there just now?"
One of the staff lifted their head and yawned largely, "Yes, why?"
Before his words could finish, Zhou Jin’an forcefully pushed open the room door. He entered quickly; the IV needle in Zheng Gang’s arm had stopped delivering fluid and blood was continuously flowing back.
He quickly removed the needle and shouted outside, "Call the medical staff quickly."
Everyone then realized something was wrong and immediately summoned the medical staff.
Qiao En also entered the room.
"Is he alright?"
Zheng Gang was unconscious on the bed and looked extremely weak.
Zhou Jin’an reached out to check his breathing by his nostrils, "He’s still breathing, thank goodness we arrived in time."
Soon, Zheng Gang was rushed again into the emergency room.
Zhou Jin’an had already made arrangements, and his people began a full hospital search for that nurse.
Outside the emergency room, Qiao En sat on a bench, feeling an inexplicable nervousness.
That nervous feeling was familiar yet alien.
About an hour later, Zheng Gang came out safe and sound.
Zhou Jin’an specially arranged his people to guard outside and fixed the medical staff entering Zheng Gang’s room.
That night, no one slept, but they didn’t feel tired at all.
Zhou Jin’an’s people had searched for the nurse all night, but ultimately did not find her.
It seemed that the opponent had come prepared.
Fortunately, the next morning, Zheng Gang woke up.
"Speak, who exactly wants to harm you?"
Zhou Jin’an stood beside his bed and demanded sternly.
Zheng Gang just dumbly looked at Zhou Jin’an. His old and waxen face showed his weariness of life.
"King Yan has sent someone to fetch me."
He muttered.
"Do you really wish to die that much?"
Veins on Zhou Jin’an’s forehead throbbed visibly.
Even at this point, Zheng Gang was still concealing something.
But what exactly was he hiding?
"If you were me, would you want to live on pitifully like this? Look at me now, do I look like a person? I am a man, haha, but do I look like a man?"
He lay there, letting out bursts of cold laughter.
Years of suppressed resentment diffused slowly from the depths of his eyes.
"Mr. Zheng, we sympathize with your plight, but hasn’t all this been brought upon yourself?"
It was Qiao En who spoke.
Hearing this, Zheng Gang turned his head and stared intently at Qiao En.
His lips trembled, seemingly wanting to say something, but no words came out.
"I deserve it, I deserve to die!"
Moments later, he suddenly became agitated and swung his fist down on his own leg.
No one stopped him.
"They’ve already tried to kill you twice, and they didn’t succeed this time, but I believe they won’t give up. There will definitely be a next time. Moreover, even if you wanted to die, there must have been many opportunities to do so over the past twenty years. The reason you are still alive must be that you have a reason to continue living."
Zhou Jin’an added.
His words struck directly at Zheng Gang’s heart.
He suddenly looked up, his eyes burning as he gazed at Qiao En.
It made Qiao En feel uneasy.
Zhou Jin’an instinctively blocked in front of Qiao En, staring menacingly at Zheng Gang.
After a while, Zheng Gang spoke, "I want to talk to her."
"You don’t have the right to choose."
Zhou Jin’an barked sternly.
Zheng Gang silently closed his eyes.
"You go outside for a while, I won’t be in any trouble."
Qiao En said to Zhou Jin’an.
He was not reassured, but he still walked out, leaving the door ajar, and Zhou Jin’an stood at the doorway.
"You may speak."
Qiao En said indifferently to Zheng Gang.
"How old are you?"
Zheng Gang’s gaze fell on Qiao En.
"Almost twenty-seven, why?"
Qiao En was somewhat surprised.
Zheng Gang’s expression grew somber, he remained silent, as if reminiscing something.
"What is your father’s name?"
he asked again.
Qiao En became cautious, "Why do you ask all these questions?"
Zheng Gang avoided answering all of Qiao En’s questions. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Hasn’t your mom told you your father’s name? Or are you saying you don’t have a father?"
Zheng Gang asked again.
His strangeness kindled an inexplicable anger in Qiao En.
"I have a father, of course I have a father."
Zheng Gang laughed, "Yes, how could you not have a father? If there was no father, how could there be you?"
His laughter was even more inexplicable.
"Zheng Gang, what exactly do you want to do?"
His laughter made Qiao En’s heart tighten bit by bit.
"Is your mother called Jiang Caiyun?"
His dark eyes suddenly looked at Qiao En.
In that instant, time seemed to stop.
"How do you know my mother?"
Qiao En exclaimed shock.
Zheng Gang did not speak, he just kept looking at Qiao En.
"You really resemble her."
He added, and then took a long sigh.
"Don’t you want to know the truth? I have only one request, I want to see Jiang Caiyun. Only after seeing her, will I reveal the truth."
"My mother will not meet you."
Qiao En refused outright.
"Have you asked her?" Zheng Gang countered.
"I’m tired, you should leave. Until I see her again, I will not speak."
He closed his eyes silently.
Qiao En clenched her fists, standing there for a long while.
She always felt that Zheng Gang was brewing some conspiracy.
But Qiao En could not fathom it.
She came out of the ward, her pale face filled with confusion.
"What’s up? Did he say anything?"
Zhou Jin’an asked.
Qiao En shook her head, "No."
"Then what did he say?" Zhou Jin’an asked curiously.
Qiao En shook her head again, "Nothing."
Just as Qiao En was deep in thought, Auntie Jiang’s call came through.
Qiao En had lost her phone, so she had called Zhou Jin’an’s phone.
"How is Yayun doing now?"
Auntie Jiang’s anxious voice came from the other end of the phone.
Zhou Jin’an glanced at Qiao En, "Mom, there’s no problem now, En’en is right next to me."
"Let her talk to me."
Auntie Jiang said.
Zhou Jin’an handed the phone to Qiao En.
"Yayun, you’re about to be a mother, how can you be so wilful? It’s normal for couples to quarrel, why would you run away from home over it? This time, mom really needs to scold you. Where are you now? When are you coming home?"
Qiao En knew that Zhou Jin’an had covered for her.
"Mom, I’ll come back in the afternoon."
"Not in the afternoon, come back now. I’m waiting at home for you."
The events at Hongyan Village made Qiao En afraid to let Auntie Jiang know, she didn’t want to worry her.
Therefore, Qiao En immediately responded, "Alright, Mom. Jin’an and I are on our way back now."
They went back.
Director Huang, along with Wang Chen and Feng Hu, also returned.
The group returned to Rong City in a grand procession.
