Post-Apocalypse: Mated To Alphas Of Orion-Chapter 79: Their Truths
(Amaia)
I never knew that Mintaka didn’t know Kacir and Rahria were mates. I thought he knew and still slept with her.
The mate bond was once revered above anything, but now people just sleep around because not everyone finds their mates. So it’s not considered an offence anymore.
Now I feel slightly guilty for speaking to him that way the other day. Alnitak was right when he said, there was more to the story.
Kacir hesitates but slowly nods his head at Mintaka. "I will try for the sake of our guild."
Mintaka gulps, his jaw remains hardened with guilt as he stares at Kacir with pleading eyes.
"I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness but just talk to me sometimes. That’s all I want," he pleads again, his elbows resting on his thighs, digging into them.
Kacir gives another small nod. I can understand how difficult it is for him but at least we are steering past the hurt that had been caused.
"Awesome, now that all of us have that off our chests. No one has any grudge against me or wants to say anything on the lines of "they need my forgiveness?" Alnitak haughtily says, his hand lifting the collar of his tracksuit. "Because I am pretty amazing." He shrugs his big shoulders and leans back on the comfy sofa. His head turns towards me, and he sends a wink.
"On the other hand, if anyone needs some love my lap is always open."
"Gross!" Kacir shakes his head at him while Mintaka gives him a playful slap. "Shut up!"
I just smile at him while my heart constricts from all those emotions bundling up.
"Amaia, it’s your turn." Kacir vacates the seat and gives me a soft smile.
Getting up I occupy the place Kacir has left and face them. Firstly, my eyes turn towards Rahria.
"I know and understand that you don’t like me and believe that I am trying to steal Kacir from you." I pause while she rolls her eyes. The feeling is very mutual, she has been sleeping with my mate but for now I bury the ugly jealousy down and continue. "I lost my brother when I was very young and Kacir has been nothing but brotherly with me. So rest assured I have no such intentions."
"We will see about that," she answers while twirling one of her locks on her finger. There are a million things I want to throw in her face. The very fact that she has been sleeping with my mate makes me want to punch her face. But I refrain, we are trying to make peace and not create more issues.
Then my whole attention turns towards Mintaka. He is now leaning back with his hands behind his head appearing like a demi-god from a fantasy story. The biceps bulge while his disturbed gold eyes stare at me.
"I apologise for being rude to you."
He snorts, shaking his head slowly. A single streak of red hair falls in his eyes."I am not a saint, half-pint. But that was low of me. I am trying to be good now. Also, I apologise for insinuating you are the weak link. You are not and I should have done better as the team captain."
"I know there are certain things that have been said about me. I have spoken my truth about them but I will say one thing once again so we are all in the clear. Believing it or not is up to you guys." Everyone leans in and I can see their eyes totally focused on me.
"I had a mate for two years but he never marked me. He was ashamed that, being an alpha born, he was mated to a human. So the first chance he got he rejected me and fled. That’s my truth."
Alnitak is the first one to speak. "I believe you, Amaia." His lips tilt sideways to give me a cute smile. I return it with one of my own.
"Me too," Kacir says kindly and I offer him an appreciative nod.
My eyes flicker towards Mintaka. "I don’t know but it’s your business. Doesn’t concern me. Besides, I am done judging people when I am like a literal devil."
I do wonder if he is like Alnitak, too, and is part incubus. Maybe I should ask him sometime.
"Al right!" I smile and my eyes finally go to Rahria.
"Not my concern as long as you stay away from my mate," she possessively says, her eyes going to Kacir again.
"Cool, I guess I am done here." With a sigh, I leave the place and return to my seat.
At least Mintaka no longer hates me, I can work with that. Just like I have Alnitak on my side I have to get closer to Mintaka too. Slowly, make him open up to me. Because I still believe there is something he hasn’t shared.
"Great, it seems like we have sorted everything out. Can we return to our rooms now?" Alnitak asks, looking around. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
I have no clue. A few minutes pass as we just sit there.
The door to the common room flies open and in walks my third mate.
Sweet mercy, may my body and soul be saved from this torture of having all three of them so close to me.
Everyone sits up straight, unlike the twins, who seem to have no impact on his arrival. They really like to push his buttons.
Alnilam walks to the centre and stands facing us. His lips form a thin line as his eyes scan us all.
"Have you all resolved your differences?"
Has he been listening to our conversations? He has to be, or how else would he know to be here instantly after we finished speaking to each other?
"Yes, Sir!" We say in unison. His eyes shift towards Mintaka who hasn’t spoken. Instead, he is half lying down on the sofa, staring back at his brother.
"From now onwards learn to behave like adults and sort out your differences. Next time I will send you all to the forest at night and leave you there," he threatens, which makes my throat dry like sandpaper.
"Return to your rooms, tomorrow you have sessions."
He faces Mintaka. "Mintaka, stay back. I need a word with him."
Alnitak laughs out loud at that and slaps Mintaka’s thigh.
"Trouble!" He grins at his twin who sends him a death stare.
"Fuck off!"
"Language..." Alnilam warns in a low growl and we just quietly sneak out, leaving the two brothers.
As soon as the door closes, Alnitak’s arms come around my shoulder, pulling me into him. He murmurs into my ear.
"Want to go to my room?" His possessive voice makes the hair on my nape stand up and I gulp hard.
