Power of Runes-Chapter 368: Transcendents (1)
"""""...Hear me O will of Heavens,
By the oath etched into existence itself,
By the blessing of fate and destiny itself,
By the divine authority of Supreme who rules the Heavens itself,
I, Battle Angel Remiel of the Heavenly Realm,
stake my life, my origin, and my eternal return.
In the name of the All Father,
I summon the Gates of the Heavens.""""""
The moment the last word left Remiel’s lips, the world reacted.
-BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The sky roared as if it had been torn apart, and an overwhelming force descended from above, crushing the surroundings under its immense weight.
The azure sky, which had already been filled with cracks earlier, now shifted into a brilliant golden sheen that spread across the entire world. The cracks widened further, stretching like shattered glass, and the pressure grew heavier with every passing second, weighing down on everyone’s body and soul alike.
This was nothing like the Abyssal Gates. Those gates had not yet opened fully and were still bound by restrictions, limiting the pressure they could exert. But the Gates of Heavens had no such limitations, and thus their full pressure descended without restraint, causing the faces of the Saints to turn pale, completely drained of blood.
Earlier, they had felt a brief sense of relief, believing the worst had passed, but the situation had changed too drastically. Now, they felt as though they did not even belong in this place. They truly felt like ants standing before a battle between giants, insignificant and powerless.
These were their thoughts, but that was only until they faced what happened next.
The very next second, accompanied by a deafening sound, a dense beam of light that covered an area spanning several hundred kilometers descended upon the planet. The earthquake triggered by its arrival, along with the sheer impact of the beam, blasted all the mountains and volcanoes in the Land of Forge into smithereens, reducing them to nothing but rubble and dust.
It did not stop there. All the dungeons that were already present across the dwarf continent and the new ones that appeared recently were all forcefully blasted open, and whatever existed within them was extinguished under that overwhelming divine force.
Aamon’s expression changed instantly. Horror was reflected clearly in his eyes as he watched the continuous descent of those dense beams of light.
The violent energy waves they emitted sent chills throughout his body, making even his blood feel cold.
Even the Saints began to puke blood as they hurriedly retreated. Their internal organs had suffered heavy injuries, and their eyes were filled with pure fear. They were experiencing one setback after another, and the suffocating feeling of being trapped at the bottom of a well became unbearably unpleasant.
Aamon hurriedly tried to break space and escape, but to his horror, the space around the entire area, or rather the whole world itself, was frozen, as if nothing could tear it apart within this vicinity.
Realizing that even before the gates had fully arrived, their influence had already begun to affect everything, he immediately shot upward toward the sky. He needed to escape the influence of the Heavenly Gates if he wanted to survive.
His figure shot out like a blinding streak of light toward outer space. Breaking the sound barrier, he vanished from the world in an instant.
Remiel saw all of this unfold, yet he made no effort to stop him. He merely sneered, his expression filled with cold satisfaction.
Run as far as you can. Today, you will realize the true grandeur of our Angel Race....
Soon, within the next few minutes, a massive golden gate, ten times the size of the Abyssal Gates, appeared, facing the now miniature Abyssal Gates below.
This was not because the Abyss was weaker.
If the Abyssal Gate was truly opened, all their restrictions would vanish, and they would expand to the same size as the Heavenly Gates.
Slowly, the Heavenly Gates began to open inward. Golden brilliance poured out from within, and when the gates were fully opened, hundreds of battle angels at the same rank as Remiel flooded into the world of Akumia. Their golden and white wings fluttered as they descended, and among them were even six winged angels, all of whose wings were completely golden.
They were at the Saint Realm, yet when compared to the Saints of the mortal realm, their power was overwhelmingly superior. Some would even disdain making such a comparison.
No one could see what lay inside the Heavenly Gates. All that was visible was a vast golden screen, as the gates functioned like colossal teleportation portals.
Last but not least, an eight winged angel appeared. He possessed one pair of white wings, while the remaining wings were golden, and his halo bore eight sharp edges. In his hands rested an equally massive sword forged from an unknown divine material.
A demi god.
Soon after, another eight winged angel stepped out. He also had one pair of white wings, but unlike the former, he was unarmed, carrying no weapon at all.
Another demi god.
With two demi gods, several Saints, and hundreds of battle angels present, the entire place fell into a deadly silence.
Their forms were breathtaking. Each battle angel stood nearly four meters tall, their towering figures seeming to blanket the sky itself. The demi gods were even more imposing, standing nearly eight meters high, their massive wings stretching outward and shrouding everything beneath them, as if the heavens themselves had descended.
Soon, all their gazes fell upon Remiel, the one who had summoned them. Seeing the extent of his injuries, several healing angels hurried forward, surrounding him in soft waves of light, while the others shifted their attention toward the surroundings, their expressions cold and alert.
Summoning the Gates of Heavens was no trivial matter. There were only a few conditions under which such an act was permitted.
One was if the Abyss had infiltrated without the Heavenly Realm noticing, somehow escaping their sight.
Another was if a Rune appeared before an angel.
And last, but most severe of all, was when an unexpected and critical matter arose that demanded the immediate attention of the Heavenly Realm.
Although every angel who ventured into the Cosmos possessed the authority to summon the gates, no one dared to do so lightly. Summoning the gates meant staking everything on the line.
If the matter was deemed insignificant or unworthy, the angel would suffer a gruesome punishment beyond imagination.
Subsequently, if the summoning was judged to be justified, the rewards granted were enough to ignite greed in the hearts of even the most disciplined beings.
Soon, all the angels turned their focus toward the Abyssal Gates. No one missed it. The vile and unpleasant presence radiating from those gates was impossible to ignore, and for beings who pursued purity, that corruption ignited disgust throughout their entire being.
The unarmed demi god spoke. His voice echoed far and wide, and he made no effort to conceal his presence.
The moment the Heavenly Gates were summoned, the world’s rules had already been overturned. Even if gods were to appear here now, nothing would restrain them. Yet this also meant that the world of Akumia had been pushed dangerously close to destruction.
"What happened here, Remiel. Who summoned the Abyssal Gates," his voice was somber and heavy.
With fate itself inaccessible, they could not predict what would come next. And seeing the sealed Abyssal Gates before them still placed enormous pressure on their minds. If one gate could be summoned, then it was possible for others to follow.
They did not know that summoning another gate was impossible, as it required the souls of individuals blessed by the Star and the Moon.
But Remiel did not greet them. Instead, he shouted, his voice filled with urgency.
"Exalted Ones, catch that demon who has fled toward the starry sky. He possesses the Rune of Destruction. That is the main reason I summoned you!!!!!"
If the matter had not been this urgent and severe, he would never have acted so disrespectfully. Yet neither of the demi gods took offense.
Instead, their eyes shone with intense light as their gazes locked onto a single figure in the distant void. A childlike demon was fleeing through the starry expanse. With a single glance, they determined his rank. Half step demi god, but not yet a true one.
He was clearly relying on some artifact to traverse the starry space and was continuously making effort to split the void to travel.
In the next instant, both demi gods transformed into streaks of light, their figures accelerating toward Aamon.
The other angels followed behind. Some remained behind to lock down the area surrounding the Abyssal Gates, while others captured the fleeing Saints and dragged them toward the demi gods who were rushing to seize the Rune bearer.
The angels tasked with sealing the Abyssal Gates soon rushed toward the outer sky after their sealing was done.
The presence of a Rune ignited something deep within them. Since their birth, they had heard countless legends about the Runes, yet none had ever witnessed one with their own eyes.
Thus, they all wanted to glimpse it.
Even Remiel, after his wounds were healed, followed after them without hesitation.
