Pretending to Be an Untouchable Crime Boss-Chapter 240: Too muChapter
Chapter 240: Too much.
When James heard the words come out of Benjamin’s mouth, he immediately froze and just stared silently right at him. At the same time, the adrenaline rushed him like no other time and his chill and nonchalant demeanor slowly started to break.
Because what the fuck did he mean by it? Executing him?
It was even bad for a joke because It was exactly what the zero tolerance shit was about, to execute every single criminal who killed or had any blood on their hands and now, in a car filled with agents, their fucking director with a straight face told him that they were going to execute him... what a joke.
Yeah, a joke, but Benjamin’s face wasn’t looking like he was joking. He was serious about it, not a single smile or anything that he usually did. He was fucking serious, which just made James’s heart even race more.
But not just him, Mike in the passenger seat, as fast as he heard it, immediately reached for his gun ready to act if something goes wrong, because like Hector, he had not a single trust in the government, and now in this car, surrounded by agents, it was a bad situation. At least it seemed like one.
"Ohh I didn’t mean it like that..." Benjamin quickly spoke as he noticed that James wasn’t that welcoming to the idea, and his whole face went pale from what he had just said to him. "I mean like a setup... to show people we actually hunted you down too or at least tried."
Well, his words didn’t really help the situation, as James was just still staring at him without even blinking.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" James finally asked as it was truly a shitshow, the fucking highlight of the day, maybe his life. The director of the NSBI saying he’s going to be fucked, but in the same way... not?
Even Benjamin now, as he thought about it, realized that maybe he chose the wrong wording with James, the fucking drug lord of the country. It sounded more like a threat than a plan, at least the way he said it.
"I meant it in a good way," he quickly said. "We are going to build up a whole investigation about you, and with that, also make a false narrative of the situation in the criminal underworld, the players in it, the hierarchy. With that, we can also at the same time clear your name, give a false sentencing to show the people we actually care."
It’s a simulation. It’s gotta be a simulation... What’s he even talking about? James literally closed his eyes as he thought about Benjamin’s plan, or whatever it was.
"Benjamin, talk clear." He opened his eyes, looking at Benjamin, who actually slapped himself, maybe to knock some sense into himself.
Well, to be true, it was a day that he never even thought could happen. He only wanted to proceed with deal he did with James, but now all of this weight on him just fucked up everything. He was no longer a director who could slack off, but now his face was all over the country, especially with that fucking speech William had written for him.
"It is clear to you and to me that now people will demand answers, will demand evidence that we are actually doing what we promised, and with it, it is also clear to me, to you, to Linda, and everybody that some people, maybe journalists, maybe some others will dig in deep. Maybe corrupt officials will speak out or leak documents. Maybe a police officer, somebody who saw you and knows what you do, how you look, will eventually come to the surface and start talking. Maybe in days, maybe in weeks or months, but that will be happening. I am sure of it." Benjamin explained. "So what we need to do is start planning and act before it could happen."
He finally understood what Benjamin was talking about, and for him at least, it was just too much to do.
"You want to... fake arrest me?"
"Exactly." Benjamin said quickly, and even Mike turned back, as well the driver was surprised as he listened to what was happening. "If we do nothing, it will look bad on the government that we just let you roam, and maybe people will revolt or something. You are the biggest name now in the game. Who knows how many bodies are attached to your name?"
Yeah, that was true. Lots of bodies buried, chopped, shot. Lot of them were on the Bellini name, it was clear like day.
"We can put you on house arrest, that too just for the show, and then we would find nothing about you... that’s the plan."
"Well, your plan is shit, has many holes... and what the fuck was the execution then?"
"We arrest you, then put you on house arrest, saying to the public that you are on the path to execution, but then the investigation finds nothing. Why? We will blame the corruption that was in the government. With it, we can conclude the investigation can’t go further, and you will remain on house arrest for monitoring. This will help in two ways." He held up his finger. "One, it will give you more power in a sense because one, we can meet freely at your house, saying it’s because of further investigation, and also the agents would be there for you as a direct channel between you and us. And of course, you could use them for the operation."
Now Benjamin actually had sense in what he was saying, but still, James was kinda stuck at the word "execution," because who knows how the table can turn and maybe the government backstabs him. Even though Benjamin was clear that he is on his side, but the others, no. With Linda suddenly wanting to run for president, that shit was still on his mind too. It was clear she wanted more power and she could use this whole fucking situation to win an election.
"Second, the best thing about it, that it will please the general public, because yes, it will cause outrage if we find nothing about you, no evidence... but this whole narrative is about corruption... the key word. We can arrest people who we want, and we already have a list of who those people will be, detectives, investigators, agents, governors, even on government level. We can put all of the corruption on them and the people will be satisfied by it and happy that they finally disappear. Of course, eyes will be on you too, there’s how comes the second part, censoring everything, saying we’re doing it because of accusation and false evidence, just slowing down everything. So if they ever come out speaking against you or trying to leak files, documents, we could strike them down. In that way, you can operate behind the tens of million-dollar worth mansion, not worrying about a single thing."
It sounded too good to be something that can actually work.
"What about my warehouse, what about the thousand people working under me? I know and I want to believe that the men and the women that are working for me all are loyal, but there will always be some that want my downfall, even if I pay them well, even if I care for them." As he said, and Mike looked back because he knew it too,as well as Hector and everybody, that one word, one person, and shit can cause a whole landslide. "But the most important of it is Sophia. She’s literally all over the place, a known criminal. How y’all going to deal with her, or Ferucci and Hector?"
Benjamin had already thought about it and had answers for it.
"You have legitimate businesses in real estate and the forestry and the marketing company. We can just legally register those people there as well, the warehouse and everything you own and the job is done. About Sophia, we do the same with her, and launch an investigation and find nothing... but well, the most important point is, I think, obvious."
"Obvious?" ƒгeewebnovёl_com
"I am the director of the National Security Bureau of Investigation. I am part of the national emergency cabinet, as well as Linda, the Minister of Justice, Stephen the director of the International Security Bureau, and Thomas the director of the Intelligence Force. You have the most powerful motherfuckers with you, James."
Too many questions, too many holes in the plan that Benjamin just explained to him, and it was all in his head, like actually doing it seemed to be impossible, even if they are the government.
This whole plan felt like something that Benjamin, or whoever came up with it, just did in an hour, thinking it would sound good, that it would actually work. But it was a weak plan, something that couldn’t even be considered a plan, just an outline for something big, for something unbelievable to do, especially during the national emergency when everybody was paying attention to the criminals waiting to see who would be the one to get busted.
In this plan that would be him, James Bellini... but then a magic twist... he aint a criminal but a good hearted businessman...
