Chapter 354: Trial 2

Nero stood before the majestic stone door. It was huge and simple, made from one solid piece of dark rock. He took a step forward and placed his hand flat against its surface.

Even in his soul form, he could feel it. The door was cold, like deep-buried stone. But beneath that cold, he felt a deep, slow, boundless energy humming within it. It was the energy of the earth itself, sleeping but powerful.

He focused. He reached for his prana—and pushed it into the door. Usually, his prana was just a clear, colorless force. But this time, something changed. As his energy touched the ancient stone, it took on a soft, steady brown hue. It was the color of rich soil and old tree bark.

The brown-tinged prana seeped into the door’s surface like water into sand.

In response, the door began to glow. Lines of soft, earthy light spread across its face, forming countless mysterious and obscure symbols. They looked like ancient runes, like the cracks in a dry riverbed or the veins in a leaf. They pulsed with a slow, patient light.

With a deep, grinding sound that echoed through the stone hall, the massive door began to move. It didn’t swing open quickly. It was pushed inward, slow and heavy, as if a mountain had decided to shift.

Beyond the doorway was not darkness, but a soft, amber glow. The open door was an invitation, silent and undeniable.

Nero took a breath before proceeding.

Nero stepped through the doorway, and the stone temple vanished. He found himself standing on a vast, open plain. The ground beneath his feet was rich, dark soil, teeming with tiny, glowing specks of energy. It stretched out in every direction as far as he could see—a boundless, flat earth under a wide, endless sky. Above, a single, blazing sun hung, bathing the world in warm, golden light.

He knelt and placed his hands on the ground. The moment he touched it, a feeling washed over him so powerful it stole his breath.

It was energy. A deep, slow, boundless river of power flowing up from the very heart of this world. It wasn’t wild like fire or fast like lightning. It was steady. Constant. It had been here forever, and it would be here forever.

And with that energy came vitality. A feeling of pure, thrumming life. He could feel it in the soil—the potential for seeds to sprout, for roots to dig deep, for great forests to grow. It was the strength that built mountains over millions of years and the gentle force that nourished the smallest blade of grass.

He just stood there, feeling it. The sun warmed his soul-form. The energy from the ground pulsed up through his feet. For a long time, there were no challenges, no monsters. Just... understanding.

A small piece of knowledge clicked into place in his mind. This is the foundation. Everything else stands on this.

Suddenly, Terradon’s voice echoed in the vast space, not from anywhere, but from everywhere, like the voice of the land itself.

"What is Earth?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

The question hung in the warm air. Nero didn’t answer right away. He closed his eyes and felt the world around him. He felt the sun’s heat, but also felt how the ground held that heat, releasing it slowly. He felt the endless space, but also felt how the ground gave it shape and meaning. He felt the energy, and the life it promised.

After a long, thoughtful moment, he opened his eyes and spoke.

"Creation," he said, his voice quiet but clear.

"It is the first material. The canvas. From earth, everything physical is born—stone, metal, clay, the minerals that make life possible."

He took a step, feeling the solid support under him. "Vitality," he continued. "It is not just dirt. It is living potential. It nourishes. It supports growth. It gives strength to all things that draw from it."

He raised a hand, feeling the steady, humming power in the air. "And energy," he finished. "A deep, endless well of power. The force of gravity that binds. The pressure that forges diamonds. The slow, unstoppable movement of continents. It is not flashy, but it is infinite."

As he spoke the words, the world around him seemed to respond. The glowing specks in the soil brightened. The light from the sun seemed to soak into the ground, stored rather than reflected. He wasn’t just stating facts; he was connecting with a fundamental truth.

This first floor wasn’t a battle. It was a lesson. A place for him to stop, to feel, and to truly understand what he was trying to conquer.

He experienced the Law of Earth as:

· The Great Provider: It fed him energy just by standing on it. It asked for nothing in return.

· The Patient One: Nothing here was rushed. The energy moved slowly, steadily. It was the lesson of endurance over speed.

· The Unseen Strength: The ground held up the entire world without effort. Its power was in its reliability, not in its spectacle.

· The Source of Growth: The vibrant feeling in the soil taught him that earth wasn’t about death and burial, but about life and foundation. All growth starts here.

He spent what felt like hours, just walking, feeling, and understanding. There was no enemy to fight except his own ignorance. By the time he felt the understanding settle firmly into his soul—a new, solid calm at his core—he knew he had passed the first true test. He had answered the question not with words from a book, but with truth felt in his very being.

A simple, stone archway appeared in the middle of the plain, leading to a staircase that spiraled upward. The lesson was learned. The first floor was complete. The real trials would begin next.

Terradon observed his host, the inheritor of their will in this life walking into the next floor, there was nothing particularly outstanding about this one but it was what makes him exceptional, to think that thing would take liking to him and even bestowed its mark on him, this time it would be different.
