Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 695: Uncle, Part 2
Noah Reyes smiled gently and once again greedily caressed his son's little face before asking tentatively, "Billy, did your mommy tell you who your daddy is? Where he is?"
Julia Bluen, sitting opposite him, couldn't help but roll her eyes. He himself hadn't left a name, address, or identity; it was just a necklace. Who would know who he was or where he was? This assertive man was foolish sometimes.
"Yes," Jimmy Horne replied seriously.
Noah Reyes immediately asked with ecstatic joy, "Really?"
Julia Bluen also raised her eyebrows, but she listened quietly to Jimmy's response.
"Mommy said that I do have a daddy, but my daddy has gone to work far, far away. It's a remote place, with no cars, no electricity, and no phone service, so Daddy has never come back to see me and Mommy, and I can't call Daddy either. But I really do have a daddy. I am not an illegitimate child born without a father; I really have a daddy. Look, my daddy even sent me a gift." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Growing up, Jimmy Horne's greatest fear was people asking about his daddy, only to then call him a fatherless child. He was young, and even though he was very intelligent, he couldn't understand the deeper meaning behind those words. He just felt that a fatherless child wasn't a good child; otherwise, his classmates wouldn't laugh at him.
"Who says you're an illegitimate child born without a father!" Noah Reyes's handsome face darkened. His son, Noah Reyes's son—who dared to call him illegitimate! He'd cut out the tongues of those people!
"Billy," Julia Bluen spoke up.
He was just a child, speaking without thinking. Noah Reyes was fiercely protective of his son; what if, in a fit of anger, he stormed into the school with weapons to avenge his son? This man was capable of anything.
At the sound of Julia Bluen's voice, Jimmy Horne's face broke into a smile. He turned his head, and upon seeing her, struggled to free himself from Noah Reyes's embrace. He circled around the coffee table and threw himself into Julia Bluen's arms, calling out happily, "Auntie Julia, why are you here too? Oh, Auntie Julia, hurry, call my Uncle Glades! Brother Ivan has been kidnapped by the bad guys! You all have to go rescue Brother Ivan!"
Julia Bluen was shaken. Her son had been kidnapped by the bad guys!
Instinctively, she looked up at Noah Reyes across from her. When Jimmy leapt into Julia's arms, Noah Reyes couldn't help feeling jealous of the place Julia held in his son's heart.
Catching the look from Julia Bluen, Noah Reyes spoke with a hint of apology, "I've already ordered my men to send your son back to the Horne Family. Mrs. Horne, I think you now understand why I had someone invite you here, don't you?"
Hearing that her son had fallen into Noah Reyes's hands, and that Noah Reyes had then ordered him sent back to the Horne Family, Julia also remembered Noah Reyes suddenly bellowing furiously, "Let Silvia Baxter die!" Intelligent as she was, she realized that her son must have fallen into Silvia Baxter's hands. And Silvia Baxter was under Noah Reyes's command.
Feeling relieved, Julia Bluen countered coolly, "Is this how you invite people?"
She hugged Jimmy Horne, who was very affectionate with her, nestled in her arms. To the unknowing, they would appear to be mother and son.
Noah Reyes pursed his lips and remained silent.
"Auntie Julia, who is this uncle? Why does he look so much like me?" Jimmy Horne brought up the question that had remained unanswered.
Listening to his own son call him "uncle" repeatedly, Noah Reyes's heart ached as if it were being gouged by a knife.
"Billy, he is…" Julia started to speak but then stopped herself. She looked at Noah Reyes, reading his expression thoroughly, and decided to let him answer the question himself.
Noah Reyes understood Julia's consideration and couldn't help feeling grateful towards her. This woman indeed had what it took to make Glades Horne love her to the core, and it wasn't just her beauty. She was intelligent, considerate, empathetic, and composed... In short, Noah Reyes felt that Julia Bluen was no ordinary woman.
"I am your daddy! That's why we look so much alike." Noah Reyes stood up, took a few steps forward, and took his son from Julia Bluen's hands. This time, he sat down even farther away, as if afraid his son would break free again and rush back into Julia's arms. Even though Julia was his son's aunt, at this moment, he didn't want anyone to take his son from him.
Outside, the bright moon rose, and the sky was studded with stars.
Outside Nameless Manor, Glades Horne, Benjamin Robinson, and Deon Myers were still in a standoff. Hansen Ruiz's Land Rover was approaching from a distance.
"Glades." As the car came to a stop, Hansen Ruiz hopped out.
Glades Horne turned and asked in a low voice, "How did it go?"
"Ivan was returned home, but Jimmy was taken away. I guess Noah Reyes found out that Jimmy was his son and took him. Also, it was Silvia Baxter who did it; she's one of Noah Reyes's people," Hansen Ruiz replied, his voice heavy. He felt a pang of guilt. If it weren't for his call to Julia, Silvia Baxter wouldn't have kidnapped the children. Although he had meant well, his actions had led to harm. Fortunately, the children were unharmed. If anything had happened, how could he ever face his dear friends, Glades and Julia?
"Damn Silvia Baxter!" Glades Horne growled through clenched teeth, his heart seething with even greater rage towards Noah Reyes.
"Is Julia still inside?" Hansen Ruiz inquired, gazing at the firmly shut gates of the Manor and the dozen or so men in black.
Glades Horne nodded.
He hadn't stormed in with Benjamin Robinson, firstly due to concerns for Julia's safety, and secondly because he had a gut feeling Noah Reyes wouldn't harm her. Nevertheless, Noah Reyes having someone forcibly take Julia away right in front of him had definitely touched a raw nerve. He didn't care if Noah Reyes was his nephew's biological father; anyone who crossed Glades Horne would not be spared.
"Why did Noah Reyes insist on taking Julia?" Hansen Ruiz was a bit puzzled. Noah Reyes had guessed about his son's existence and confirmed Jimmy Horne's identity. The person he should have been looking for was Adele Horne, so why did he go after Julia Bluen instead?
Glades Horne remained silent. He also had no idea what Noah Reyes was thinking.
「Meanwhile, inside.」
Jimmy Horne frowned, looking at Noah Reyes.
Noah Reyes watched him, his heart filled with anticipation. He desperately hoped the boy would call him "Daddy" right away.
Unfortunately for his hopes, Jimmy Horne, blinking his large, dark eyes, stressed, "Uncle, I'll be four years old in a month. So, I'm not a three-year-old child anymore."
He had never met his daddy and really wanted to have one, but a daddy was someone very, very close and dear; you couldn't just acknowledge anyone as your daddy. This uncle did look a lot like him, but that didn't guarantee he was his daddy, did it? Not unless Mommy told him herself that this uncle was his daddy. But if this uncle was his daddy, then why hadn't Daddy come to see him all these years? And now that he was back, why didn't he go home to find Mommy?
