"Julia!" Glades Horne growled.

He did not want to let Noah Reyes off so easily!

Leaving aside his past treatment of Adele, just Reyes's current actions toward Julia alone were enough to fuel Glades's rage beyond quenching.

The Black Emperor Group taking on the Valence Group was no cause for fear; this was just business. The business world was fraught with wars at every turn. However, Reyes should not target women and children over business conflicts.

Julia had been forcefully detained and his son kidnapped. Even though his son had now been safely returned to the Horne Family, the evidence of Reyes's actions could not be erased.

Glades's face tensed as he glared at Julia.

He rarely lost his temper with Julia, for he loved her deeply, cherishing her too much to even consider glaring, but at this moment, he was truly furious. The mere thought of what Reyes had done made him yearn to punch Reyes even harder—no, he wished he could tear him to pieces!

His young nephew siding with Reyes was understandable, as they were father and son.

But Julia pleading for Reyes infuriated him, and hearing her claim that she and Reyes were old acquaintances simply catching up only fueled his rage further.

He himself had only just seen Reyes's true colors, so when could Julia have possibly met him?

"Glades," Julia took her angry husband aside. Only when they were some distance from everyone else did she speak, "Glades, you've already acknowledged that Reyes is Billy's biological father. Let's treat tonight's events as a family matter then. Of course, we can handle our own family matters; there's no need to trouble Captain Benjamin. Look, Billy is all right, I'm all right, and Ivan has been sent back. Please stop being angry, okay? Adele is still at home waiting for us. We need to tell her about Reyes."

Glades pursed his lips, silently staring at Julia.

His hands balled into fists, clenching tighter and tighter.

Julia took his hands and pried his fists open, gently saying, "If you won't think of anyone else, at least think of Billy. The little guy is very smart. If he finds out that Reyes is his real father, and then you put his father in jail, how is Billy going to see you? Glades, the little guy looks up to you as a role model and worships you. To him, you're as important as a father. He definitely wouldn't want the uncle he regards as his own father to prosecute his biological father."

Glades turned his head sharply, glaring fiercely at Jimmy Horne, who still stood protectively in front of Reyes.

Under the courtyard lights, everyone's faces were clearly visible. The striking resemblance between Reyes and Jimmy was particularly conspicuous under the illumination.

Reyes's men encircled him and his son, maintaining a standoff with the police led by Benjamin Robinson. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Glades," Julia continued, "Reyes is so proud, a leader in his own right. His organization, the Black Emperor Group, holds sway over the Asia-Pacific Region. He may hold a noble status, but he also silently endured your two punches just now. You should cool off a bit. We need to investigate some matters more thoroughly, not just look at the surface. For example, Ivan and Jimmy's kidnapping wasn't ordered by Reyes; it was Silvia Baxter acting on her own. I was inside and personally heard how furious Reyes was, cursing loudly when he found out."

Seeing her husband's expression remain so fierce, Julia had no choice but to continue persuading him.

Regardless of anyone else, just seeing Jimmy Horne protecting Reyes made it impossible for her, as his aunt, to harden her heart and not help Noah Reyes.

If Glades Horne insisted on pressing charges, Noah Reyes and his subordinates would be found guilty of kidnapping and sentenced to prison. Noah Reyes showed no intention of resisting. If... what if Adele Horne and Jimmy Horne were both willing to accept Noah Reyes? Then Glades would be the one tearing their family reunion apart.

"The years of grievances Adele has suffered, the years of grievances Billy has suffered—those can't be offset by just a couple of punches," Glades Horne said somberly, finally speaking.

Withdrawing the fierce glare he had fixed on the father and son, Glades Horne focused intently on Julia.

"Glades..." Julia smiled bitterly. She glanced at Noah Reyes not far away. He hadn't looked at the couple but was holding Billy tenderly on his lap. That man, who seemed so towering and capable of anything, actually had a soft and sincere side too.

Especially his reaction when he first saw Jimmy's excitement, the pain in his eyes when Jimmy called him 'Uncle,' and then his renewed excitement upon noticing the necklace Jimmy was wearing.

All of this indicated that Noah Reyes would definitely try to make amends.

His departure all those years ago must have been due to some unavoidable circumstances.

"Glades, let Adele deal with those issues herself, okay? If you're still really angry, then at most..." Julia suddenly chuckled, then leaned in and whispered something in Glades's ear. His eyes lit up, and the fierce look in his eyes softened considerably.

"What do you mean?"

Julia looked at him with a playful smirk, a mischievous glint flashing in the depths of her almond-shaped eyes.

Noah Reyes was too arrogant. For Adele's happiness, they, as her elder brother and sister-in-law, surely had the right to scrutinize their future brother-in-law a little, didn't they?

"Uncle!" Jimmy cried out, running over to hug Glades Horne's leg. He looked up with a pleading expression and said sensibly, "Uncle, that man isn't a bad person. Can you please not let the police officers take them away? The bad person is a she-male! That she-male is also holding a big sister captive. Uncle, you should go save that big sister too!" In Jimmy's words, Silvia Baxter was a "she-male."

She was clearly an 'auntie' but pretended to be an 'uncle.'

That uncle isn't a bad person!

This boy was clearly biased. He hadn't even formally acknowledged his father, yet he already knew his father wasn't a bad person?

If Noah Reyes wasn't a bad person, then there were no bad people left in the world.

Glades Horne didn't burst the child's bubble of innocence. He bent down and picked up Jimmy, who immediately wrapped his arms affectionately around his neck. Glades didn't pay much attention to the "big sister" Jimmy mentioned.

Noah Reyes's gaze followed his son. Seeing his son plead on his behalf and show such affection towards Glades filled him with a mix of jealousy, envy, and deep emotion.

"Alright, since Jimmy has pleaded for that man, and for Jimmy's sake, fine." Glades continued, "Your uncle is magnanimous and won't bicker with that fellow for now. We won't let the police officers take them yet. Come on, let's go home. Your mommy is waiting at home, probably worried sick." As Glades spoke, he started walking towards the manor's entrance without a glance at Noah Reyes. Julia walked beside him.

When they reached Benjamin Robinson, Glades gave him an apologetic look. Benjamin Robinson was no fool. Despite his upright nature, he had guessed a few things upon seeing Noah Reyes and Jimmy Horne. Receiving Glades's apologetic glance, he smiled faintly and replied, "Since your wife said she was just catching up with Mr. Reyes and that your call was a misunderstanding, and now that the misunderstanding has been cleared up and it was all a false alarm, we'll be taking our leave."
