Julia also imprinted a goodnight kiss on his face, then found a comfortable position in his arms and fell asleep with ease.

The night was silent and still.

「Outside.」

Noah Reyes sat quietly in the back seat of the car, gazing silently at the Horne Family Mansion. Inside was the woman he had searched for in vain. Even now, knowing her identity, he still hadn't been able to meet her again—his future wife, and his son, whom he had only seen that evening!

The lights in the Main House slowly dimmed or went out. He knew that most of the household had gone to sleep.

Which room was Adele staying in? Had she gone to sleep? Did she know I had come to look for her? All sorts of guesses and worries tangled like a web, enveloping Noah Reyes' heart, squeezing it tightly, bringing alternating pain, joy, and anxiety.

"Sect Leader, let's go back. Silvia Baxter is still waiting for you to decide her fate," Deon Myers, sitting in the passenger seat, turned his head and gently urged Noah Reyes.

Reluctantly withdrawing his gaze, Noah Reyes silently gestured with a wave of his hand. The understanding bodyguard immediately started the car and quietly drove away from the Horne Family villa.

He came quietly and left quietly, not wishing to force a meeting with her in the deep silence of the night.

「Nameless Manor.」

Silvia Baxter was a bit sleepy, longing for sleep, nearly dozing off on her feet, but she dared not sleep. She even dared not look around the residence of the Sect Leader.

Truthfully, her opportunities to see the Sect Leader were few; all in all, she had only met him face to face once. Generally, tasks were assigned to her through Deon Myers or other high-ranking members of the Fiery Gate sect.

She hadn't realized, due to a twist of fate, that she had accidentally kidnapped the young master!

The mere thought that the boy was truly the Sect Leader's flesh and blood, the young master of the Fiery Gate sect, sent shivers down Silvia Baxter's spine. What awaits me? she wondered.

The Sect Leader had been away. Since being summoned here, she had been standing in the hall for several hours. Nobody paid her any attention, nor did anyone invite her to sit down. She was tired from standing, and her heart was in turmoil.

Here, I'm considered someone of status, at least more so than the ordinary members, but now I'm like a prisoner. She was very worried and fearful.

It wasn't easy for me to gain recognition and become the General Manager dealing with affairs for the Black Emperor Group. This position made me feel my future was boundless, a feeling my own family business had never given me. Now it seems very likely I'll be stripped of my General Manager position by the Sect Leader.

Although I now wield a certain amount of power within the Baxter Family, my elderly father still hasn't announced me as the next CEO. This means I can't yet become the top leader of our family company, the ultimate decision-maker. My father's heart could change. I fear that after so many years of hard work, the Baxter Family business will ultimately fall into the hands of my brothers, or perhaps my adult nephew, who is much sharper than my mediocre brothers.

Passing on to a son or grandson is better than passing to a daughter. That was what one of her sisters-in-law had secretly told her father.

If I lose the position of General Manager of the Black Emperor Group and also fail to obtain my own family's estate, I'll end up with nothing, empty-handed. How could I bear Glades Horne's retaliation? Thinking of the fate of Cosmos Group and the Evans Family years ago, Silvia Baxter couldn't help but shudder again. These past years, I've been fierce, I've been ruthless, all thanks to the power of the Fiery Gate sect.

When Silvia Baxter heard the sound of a car outside, she knew the Sect Leader had returned, and her heart immediately leapt into her throat.

Noah Reyes, followed by Deon Myers and several bodyguards, strode in. He was still dressed in black from head to toe, just as he had been during the day. Resembling Satan in the darkness of night, his face was taut, his eyes serious, and he exuded a formidable, heart-trembling suppressed anger. Great fury was not what was feared; the worst was a calm, suppressed rage.

"Sect Leader." Silvia Baxter turned her head, stepped aside to make way, and once Noah Reyes had taken a seat on the sofa, she hurriedly greeted him with great respect.

Noah Reyes lifted his gaze, looking at her with cold detachment. He stared at her without blinking, as if her face were smeared with gold. His gaze made Silvia Baxter afraid to even breathe loudly.

Actually, I'm innocent due to ignorance, aren't I? If I had known that the illegitimate grandson from the Horne Family was the Sect Leader's own flesh and blood, even if I had the audacity of the heavens, I wouldn't have dared to kidnap him. Not only would I not have dared to kidnap him, but I would have also treated Jimmy Horne with the reverence due to an ancestor.

Unfortunately, a mistake was a mistake, and Noah Reyes wouldn't consider such excuses. What he focused on was Silvia Baxter's unauthorized decision to kidnap the two young masters from the Horne Family. The fact that one of them was his long-sought son made Silvia Baxter's unauthorized action an even graver sin.

Noah Reyes stood up and took two steps forward, his tall figure exerting an overwhelming pressure on Silvia Baxter.

Raising his hand, he suddenly struck, fiercely slapping Silvia Baxter twice. He typically disliked laying hands on women. Silvia Baxter now held the dubious honor of being the first woman he had ever slapped!

Silvia Baxter's cheeks immediately swelled red, with bright finger marks printed on them, a shocking sight. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, a testament to how heavy Noah Reyes's slaps had been.

Silvia Baxter didn't dare to even grunt, bearing it silently. If two slaps can appease the Sect Leader, I'm willing to endure them.

"Who told you to do this?" Noah Reyes asked coldly.

"Sect Leader," Silvia Baxter explained in terror, "I thought that by doing this, it would throw Glades Horne and his wife into disarray and keep Hansen Ruiz even busier. I truly did not mean to offend the Young Master."

"Who do you think Glades Horne is? Haven't you figured him out after all these years? Do you really think this would be to our advantage? It would only deepen his animosity towards us and increase the force of his retaliation. Have you lost your mind?" Noah Reyes said chillingly.

Just the thought of Jimmy Horne being kidnapped by Silvia Baxter made him want to twist off her head.

Silvia Baxter hung her head, not daring to say another word. Right now, even if what I did was right, the Sect Leader would still say I was wrong.

"Deon Myers, proceed with the sect's discipline! The charge: ignoring the Sect Leader and arrogating undue authority!" Noah Reyes coldly uttered the sentence and then turned to walk upstairs.

Upon hearing this, Silvia Baxter turned pale as paper. She quickly pursued Noah Reyes, throwing herself to her knees and clutching at his legs, begging, "Sect Leader, I have always been loyal to you! I truly acted for the good of the Fiery Gate sect. I wouldn't dare presume such authority!"

Noah Reyes shook his foot, flinging her aside.

Turning his head, he gave her one more icy glance. She still doesn't admit her mistake!

With him, the Sect Leader, personally present in T City, Silvia Baxter should have sought approval from higher-ups if she intended to use a tactic like kidnapping. After all, kidnapping was a serious crime! A major offense!

Turning around once more, Noah Reyes coldly proceeded upstairs.
