Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 710 Sister Li Incident (4)_1
She knew her retribution had arrived. Frightened, she turned off her cellphone and dared not meet anyone. All the food she ate, she cooked herself.
Because of her, the Baxter Family was implicated. Old Baxter was furious, questioning her about who she had provoked. When he learned that the Valence Group was pressuring the Baxter Family's company and picking faults everywhere, the Baxter Family's company suffered significant losses in just one day. Old Baxter believed his daughter had thoroughly infuriated Glades Horne. In his anger, he confiscated all of Silvia Baxter's shares in the family company; she wouldn't get a penny of the Baxter Family's wealth.
Beyond that, due to the constant troubles Silvia Baxter caused and her inability to work regularly, Old Baxter seized the opportunity to pass the CEO position to his grandson, who had just turned nineteen. The many years of Silvia's contributions to her company thus became a windfall for her nephew.
She was angry and resentful, but also helpless. Now, the most important thing for her was to save her own life. She knew Glades Horne's retribution had begun. Glades wouldn't kill anyone; at most, he would leave her with nothing. However, during her time abroad executing missions, she had killed people and made enemies. Now, without the protection of Flame Gate, these enemies came after her one by one, and she found it difficult to fend them off.
When the T City police crossed city lines to arrest Silvia Baxter at the Baxter residence, Old Baxter finally realized the extent of his most beloved daughter's misdeeds and her true identity. On the spot, Old Baxter's blood pressure soared, and he fainted. He was rushed to the hospital, but resuscitation efforts failed, and he died.
Silvia Baxter became the unfilial daughter who had angered her father to death.
Facing the reality that her actions had led to her father's death, Silvia Baxter nearly collapsed. Once, her father had doted on her excessively, even wanting to groom her as his successor, but she had become the executioner who took her father's life.
With Old Baxter's death, the Baxter Family nearly fell into disarray, and everyone pointed fingers at Silvia Baxter. Regarding her arrest by the police, not a single relative sympathized with her; they said she got what she deserved.
The accusations from her relatives and the legal punishment awaiting her after her arrest filled Silvia Baxter, once one of Heaven's favored, with terror. She wanted to flee! She didn't want to spend the rest of her life in prison.
She thought that as long as she could escape, she would flee to a foreign country, change her name, and live beyond the law's reach.
When T City police brought her back to the T City Police Station, she used her body to ram the two police officers escorting her as she got out of the car. Having joined Flame Gate, she knew some martial arts. The two officers fell to the ground, and she broke into a run, colliding with an oncoming taxi. She was knocked to the ground, and the driver couldn't brake in time. The merciless wheels rolled over her body. By the time the car stopped, she was already dead at the scene.
After learning of Silvia Baxter's accidental death while attempting to escape, Julia was the first to inform Vice President Li.
「In the General Manager's Office.」
Julia called Vice President Li over once again and brewed tea for her once more.
With her daughter safely rescued, Vice President Li was especially grateful to Julia Bluen, her husband, and Hansen Ruiz. Her mood now was completely different from before.
"CEO Bluen, can I have my resignation letter back?" Vice President Li asked proactively, not waiting for Julia to speak.
Julia smiled. She had called Vice President Li over precisely to return the resignation letter, as she never intended to accept it. The fact that Vice President Li brought it up herself made Julia smile with relief.
Picking up the resignation letter from the corner of her desk, Julia handed it back to Vice President Li, saying, "Sister Li, no matter what happens or what difficulties you face in the future, you can always tell me. I'll help if I can. You've been with the company for so many years; it's like another home to you. It must pain you to hurt your own home, mustn't it?"
Vice President Li's face was filled with shame. She had wronged CEO Bluen and the company.
"CEO Bluen, I've made a mistake that has damaged the company's reputation. Please punish me." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Julia's smile faded as she looked at her intently. After a moment, she said, "The company will address your mistake." Public matters would be handled publicly, and private matters privately. Although Vice President Li had been pressured, she still bore responsibility for the mishandling that damaged the company's reputation and would have to face some punishment.
As for the punishment, Julia chose to be lenient, downplaying the major aspects and overlooking the minor ones. She only docked the Vice President one month's salary to cover overtime for employees who had to rework and inspect the goods.
The Vice President had no objections to this.
Her position remained unchanged, and Julia's trust in her was still intact. This moved her deeply, and she vowed to dedicate the rest of her life to Valence Art.
「It was twilight again.」
「By the seaside.」
Her hair, released from its usual updo, cascaded down. Dressed in a flowing purple gown, Julia stood on the soft sand, gazing intently at the sunset hanging over the sea to the west.
Because it was summer, even at twilight, many tourists were reluctant to leave the beach. Many, like Julia, had come to watch the beautiful sight of the sunset sinking into the sea.
Someone appeared beside her. Glades Horne, wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and black trousers, stood next to Julia.
Turning his head, Glades looked at Julia and said, "How long has it been since we last came to the beach alone?" Their busy schedules, compounded by the arrival of their child, meant Julia focused much of her attention on their son. As a result, their moments alone together had grown increasingly rare.
"It's been a very long time," Julia replied, also turning her head to look at him.
A large hand reached for hers, and Glades said tenderly, "Come, let's walk hand in hand along the beach." This too was a form of romance, a form of warmth.
Julia smiled and extended her hand, bravely entrusting it to him just as she had when she accepted him as her husband. Glades took her hand, and they strolled along the beach by the sea.
Flecks of the setting sun sprinkled upon them, casting an especially warm glow.
"Adele will be back tomorrow," Julia said softly.
"Mm," Glades hummed lowly, not saying much more. He didn't want to talk about other people just then.
"Poor Adele. I wonder when she'll be as happy as I am," Julia sighed softly.
He released her hand, instead wrapping an arm around her shoulders. Glades consoled her, "Everyone has their own fate and their own path to walk. Believe in Adele; she's not without blessings. She will find happiness."
Julia nodded. I hope so, she thought.
「In South Hill District, Riverside New Village.」
Rachel Bailey was busy in the kitchen preparing dinner while Camila Ruiz and Jimmy Horne played in the living room. Hansen Ruiz was by Rachel's side, ostensibly helping. In reality, he was more intent on stealing some affection.
Indeed, as Rachel stir-fried vegetables, he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, his hands brazenly roaming. Annoyed, Rachel slapped his hand away and said sternly, "If you keep this up, I won't let you have dinner!"
