Chapter 714: Chapter 714 Starting to Gamble (1)_1

"Alright, Mommy will bring Jimmy home tonight," Julia promised.

After talking to her son for a while, Julia ended the call. Looking out the car window, she saw they had arrived at South Hill District.

Quickly, Glades Horne parked his car next to Noah Reyes’s.

Both men simultaneously rolled down their car windows, turned their heads, and looked at each other.

A moment later, Noah Reyes got out of his car.

He stood before Glades Horne’s car window and said coldly, "Mr. Horne, I think it’s time for us to talk."

Glades Horne pursed his lips, remaining silent and unmoving in his seat.

Julia gently nudged him from his side.

Only then did Glades Horne open the car door and step out.

He walked off into the distance, and Noah Reyes immediately followed.

His subordinates also wanted to follow, but Glades Horne turned his head unexpectedly and said coldly, "This is a matter between us two. No one else is to follow."

Noah Reyes made a stopping gesture.

His subordinates halted, watching as he followed Glades Horne into the distance.

They walked to a tree, where Glades Horne stood with his back to Noah Reyes, and said indifferently, "What do you want to talk about?"

Noah Reyes walked up to him, his dark eyes not diminishing their sharp glint as he met Glades Horne’s gaze. "Let’s talk about Adele and Jimmy."

Glades Horne’s expression turned cold instantly, his face hardening, but he remained silent, instinctively tightening his lips.

"I know I hurt Adele, but I... had my own compelling reasons. Adele was drugged by someone; she too was in distress and pain. It was... an accident. But I wasn’t toying with Adele. That’s why I left my necklace with her. It’s the symbol of the head of the Reyes Family; possessing it along with the flame totem grants control over the entire Order of Flame. I blocked all news to prevent anyone from seeing Adele’s face. Then, I left without a trace. For years, I never came to find her or ask after her. This was because my situation was perilous at the time. I was the young master, and many coveted the position of leader of the Order; they were constantly trying to kill me. If they had known of Adele’s existence, even you wouldn’t have been able to protect her life."

Noah Reyes spoke in a deep voice, explaining the reasons beyond his control.

Glades Horne remained silent, his lips still pursed.

"I haven’t lied," Noah Reyes continued. "With your capabilities, if you want to know whether it’s true or false, just spend some time investigating. You can find out."

Glades Horne scoffed coldly. ’Spend some time investigating?’ To investigate Noah Reyes, he and Hansen Ruiz had spent several years, not just ’some time.’

"Jimmy is my son. I’ve already done a DNA test. This is an undeniable fact," Noah Reyes continued.

Glades Horne still said nothing.

Noah Reyes didn’t mind his silence.

"Mr. Horne, I believe you also wish for your sister’s happiness. I hope you will no longer prevent me from meeting Adele and getting close to Jimmy." This was the main reason Noah Reyes wanted to talk to Glades Horne.

Glades Horne glared at him, a sneer tugging at his lips as he said in a low, cold voice, "Adele doesn’t want any more involvement with you. Jimmy is Adele’s everything; she’s afraid you’re here to take him away." He should understand. It’s Adele who doesn’t want any more to do with Noah Reyes, not him, Glades Horne, deliberately making things difficult.

He certainly hoped his sister would be happy, but the person who could make her happy wasn’t necessarily Noah Reyes.

Even if they had conceived a son together under such circumstances, how much affection could Adele possibly have for Noah Reyes? Besides, she didn’t even remember what he looked like.

"That’s between me and Adele," Noah Reyes said confidently. "As long as you stay out of it, I will handle it."

"If you’re capable, go find Adele yourself," Glades Horne retorted coldly, dropping the statement.

Noah Reyes’s face twitched slightly. He had been looking. He was always searching.

"As for Jimmy..." Glades turned around. The two men stood face to face. With their nearly equal heights and commanding presences, their confrontations were always charged with a tense atmosphere, as if a fight could break out at any moment.

His inscrutable, cold eyes twinkled with an almost imperceptible danger as Glades spoke in a chilly tone, "How about we make a bet?"

"A bet?"

Noah Reyes raised an eyebrow. What kind of bet?

"I can let you see Jimmy now. If you can get Jimmy to voluntarily follow you and call you ’daddy’ of his own will, I will stop interfering and let things take their course," Glades Horne said coldly, laying out the terms of the bet.

Jimmy was so clever, and so devoted to protecting his mommy. If his mommy said Noah Reyes wasn’t his ’daddy’, then even if Jimmy had his doubts and liked Noah Reyes, he wouldn’t call him ’daddy’ voluntarily.

Glades Horne had an eighty percent chance of winning this bet.

"If you cannot get Jimmy to voluntarily call you ’daddy’ and follow you of his own accord—remember, both conditions must be met simultaneously—then from this day forward, I want you and your people to disappear from our sight. Forever. Never again seek out Adele, never see Jimmy, and certainly never take Jimmy away!"

Noah Reyes’s expression hardened. Glades was truly devious!

His son was clearly closer to the Horne family now. And although Jimmy seemed to like him and didn’t reject him, his chances of winning this bet weren’t great.

If he lost, he wouldn’t be able to pursue his wife and bring his child home.

He couldn’t lose.

But he couldn’t guarantee he would win.

Although he had only met his son twice, he felt he generally understood the boy’s personality.

Perhaps he could get his son to follow him willingly, but getting Jimmy to call him ’daddy’ voluntarily would be incredibly difficult.

But if he didn’t take the bet, his brother-in-law would continue to obstruct him, leading to endless trouble.

To bet or not to bet?

"What do you say? Do you dare to bet?" Glades Horne challenged, his eyes provocative.

Turning his head to glance at Hansen Ruiz’s villa, then back at Glades Horne, Noah Reyes replied heavily, "Alright, I’ll take the bet!"

His only bargaining chip was the bond of blood—thicker than water!

Glades Horne looked at him again, his gaze still icy. Yet, Noah Reyes detected a hint of appreciation in it. Was it because he dared to take the bet, knowing his chances of winning were slim, that Glades was starting to show him a sliver of admiration?

"I’ll give you one night. You can start now," Glades Horne said in a low, cold voice.

Glades had a strong chance of winning; Noah was almost certainly set to lose. Yet, he still dared to accept the wager. Even if he only had a one percent chance of success, he still possessed the courage to gamble. This bravery, this tenacity, lessened Glades’s dissatisfaction with him by half.

Noah Reyes said nothing more. He gave Glades Horne a look, then turned and walked back toward the villa.
