Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 713: Bet (3)_1
The house was intermittently filled with the sounds of children’s quarrels or their laughter, and Rachel’s tender voice, making it clear just how warm the scene was. He hadn’t yet seen his wife, and his son didn’t recognize him. Instead, his son was bonding harmoniously with others, leaving him—the father—standing outside the door.
All of this... Noah Reyes was sad, but he silently endured it. He knew it was all his fault. He wouldn’t blame anyone. Even though he had his difficulties back then—ignoring everything and disappearing without a word for several years—it was only normal for others to want to get back at him.
"Boss, shall we storm in?" One of the men in black could no longer contain himself. Seeing Hansen Ruiz’s disrespect towards their Boss and the veiled threats in his speech, he and the others wanted to take action. In their eyes, the Boss held a position of great respect, not quite an Emperor but akin to one. Yet, these people were repeatedly being disrespectful towards him.
Even if they had connections to the Boss’s wife, they had no right to treat the Boss this way. Not even the Boss’s wife herself should be disrespectful towards him. All previous wives of the Boss had revered him as their world. Their sole duty was to bear the Boss’s successor; they were not allowed to manage or interfere in any other matters.
Noah Reyes turned his head slightly and glanced at the man in black, saying in a low voice, "This is not our territory." They weren’t allowed to run wild here. The Black Emperor Group, no matter how much attention it garnered or how no one dared to underestimate it, was still no match for the Valence Group.
"But, Boss, the Young Master is right before our eyes! Are we going to return empty-handed again?" another man in black said indignantly.
They had waited and waited, and finally, a Young Master had appeared. The thought that they couldn’t bring him back to their organization infuriated them. How could they not be angry?
The elders were all getting restless, planning to fly here and take the Young Master to the Training Base for training immediately.
Noah Reyes didn’t reply. Instead, he turned, got back into the car, and waited.
He waited for Glades Horne’s arrival.
Hansen Ruiz would certainly inform Glades Horne. To achieve a father-son reunion, he had to talk to Glades Horne face-to-face. If Glades Horne refused to let go, then even if he managed to take his son away by force, his son wouldn’t acknowledge him. Moreover, the violence would likely destroy any affection his son might have for him, and that was the last thing he wanted. After all, he was still hoping to use his son as a way to win Adele Horne’s heart.
If Glades remained so stubborn, then he would really have to resort to shamelessly pestering Julia Bluen.
Or maybe... He suddenly focused on Hansen Ruiz’s villa. The lady of the house, Rachel Bailey, might also be able to help him. If he could get both Julia Bluen’s and Rachel Bailey’s help, then neither Glades Horne nor Hansen Ruiz would have any leverage against him.
Although he had previously sought Julia Bluen’s assistance, he hadn’t persisted when she said she couldn’t help. He had lacked steadfastness and failed to move her.
Julia Bluen was strolling along the beach with her partner, enjoying a rare moment of private time together and rekindling the sweet romance of their early marriage. She then received a call from her good friend Rachel. After the call, she informed Glades Horne that Noah Reyes had gone to Hansen Ruiz’s place, demanding to take Jimmy Horne away.
"Noah Reyes truly lives up to his name. Well done. He so swiftly broke through the defenses you and Hansen Ruiz jointly set up," Julia said with appreciative laughter after hanging up the phone.
She was gradually coming to accept Noah Reyes as her future son-in-law.
Glades Horne suddenly pulled her into his arms. His pull was strong and sudden, causing Julia to nearly fall. However, he quickly caught her by the waist. Lowering his head and narrowing his eyes dangerously, he said huskily, "Honey, are you saying your husband is useless?"
"Not at all," Julia giggled, her almond eyes twinkling as she firmly denied it.
"You have a soft spot for that fellow Black!"
"The future son-in-law..."
"I haven’t agreed to let Adele marry him, and Adele doesn’t want anything to do with him anymore," Glades Horne said gently as he pushed her down onto the soft sand. Her hair fanned out across the sand, making her look very beautiful and enchanting.
"Adele isn’t your possession. If she were to meet Noah Reyes, who knows, sparks might fly." Julia still had a good impression of Noah Reyes. Although she was the mastermind behind the plan to mess with him, she wouldn’t deny his merits. That man, despite appearing aloof and arrogant... she knew that once he fell in love, he would love with profound intensity, just as Glades Horne loved her. If Adele could give them both a chance, Adele would surely be very happy.
Glades Horne pressed his lips tightly, remaining silent.
"Let’s go, or your precious nephew will be taken away by his father," Julia said with a laugh, pushing him away, eager to drop the subject.
Silently moving away from her, he pulled her up and carefully dusted the sand from her hair and dress before Glades led her away from the beach.
While driving to the South Hill District, Glades Horne also received a call from his younger brother, James. James reported that they had finally discovered the truth behind Julia’s kidnapping years ago. The mastermind was indeed Silvia Baxter. The kidnappers hadn’t met with misfortune by accident; seeing the situation turn sour, Silvia had immediately orchestrated another plan, arranging for a truck to purposefully run over the two kidnappers and kill them.
"I understand," Glades Horne responded in a deep tone.
He had suspected as much but had never had the evidence to prove it. Now, knowing the truth didn’t matter much; Silvia Baxter was already dead.
The Baxter Family was currently in turmoil. Considering Silvia was dead and Steven Baxter had also died from anger, Glades Horne decided to stop pressuring them. Out of respect for the decades of cooperation between the two families, he wouldn’t kick the Baxter Family while they were down.
After ending the call, Glades Horne continued to drive in silence, his lips pressed together.
Julia, on the other hand, was on her phone, calling home to their beloved son.
"Mommy, when will Jimmy come back? I feel so lonely at home," Ivan said into the phone, sounding quite upset.
"Aren’t your little cousins at home? Play with them for now; Jimmy will be home soon," Julia reassured her son with a warm smile. It was normal for her son to miss Jimmy. The cousins, born on the same day, shared a deep bond, and Jimmy had been staying at Rachel’s house for several days now. Who could blame them? The cousins were born on the same day and were as thick as thieves.
"They’re too young," Ivan instinctively replied, forgetting that he himself was also very young.
Julia laughed.
However, her sister Ruby’s boy-girl twins mostly clung to their grandmother; they were quite spoiled from Sovia Morris’s doting. Whenever they played with Ivan, they would inevitably end up crying. When they cried, Sovia Morris would assume her precious grandchildren were being bullied. Although she wouldn’t directly blame Ivan, she would always inquire about what happened. Over time, this led to a situation where Ivan, despite being more closely related by blood to Ruby Bluen’s children—the twins—preferred not to play with them.
