Chapter 720: Chapter 720: Searched Everywhere, Only to Find It Behind Me on Turning Back (4)_1

Ivan Horne was very obedient, nestling in Julia’s arms while watching a movie on her phone.

Soon, the family of three returned to the Horne residence.

Glades Horne handed his son over to the nanny. He then pulled Julia up the stairs, heading straight to the rooftop before releasing her hand. He walked to the railing, propped his hands on it, and gazed down at the courtyard’s night view.

Julia walked up behind him with a smile, wrapped her arms around his waist, and rested her head against his back, gently saying, "Are you mad at me?"

Glades Horne did not speak, letting her hold his waist.

"Actually, you’re angry at yourself, aren’t you? For letting Noah Reyes off so easily. You were the one who left a loophole for Noah Reyes to exploit. Glades, don’t overthink it. Noah Reyes has the ability to make Adele happy. Let’s not interfere anymore and let them develop freely. If Noah Reyes can make Adele fall in love with him and accept him, then we’ll bless them. If not, it doesn’t change the fact that he is Jimmy’s father."

Glades Horne’s deep eyes flickered. His beloved wife had seen right through him; he had indeed left an escape route for Noah Reyes.

He sighed deeply.

He gently pulled Julia’s hands from his waist and drew her to his side, to stand with him before the railing. They had shared countless moments like this over the years, each one deepening the trust and understanding between them.

"Adele suffered for so many years, yet I let Noah Reyes off easily."

I believed Noah Reyes’s explanation, he mused. Just as Noah said, I could easily verify the truth of it. And what Noah said was the truth. If he hadn’t done what he did, even with my capabilities, I wouldn’t have been able to protect Adele’s life. Noah Reyes did indeed wrong Adele and their son, but his intentions were ultimately good.

Julia laughed, turned to him, and raised her hand to stroke his handsome face, dispelling his sigh with a mischievous smile. "Actually, whether we forgive Noah Reyes doesn’t really matter much to him. What matters most is Adele."

Adele is the real hurdle, she thought. She’s the only one who can truly make Noah Reyes suffer.

Glades Horne’s expression softened. He smiled and gently tapped his wife’s forehead. "You, you’re becoming more and more cunning."

Giggling, Julia leaned on his shoulder and said, "I can’t help it. Who made me your wife, after all?"

Holding her close, Glades Horne chuckled heartily too.

The cunning couple stood on the rooftop, secretly chuckling as they anticipated the entertaining drama of Adele giving Noah Reyes a hard time.

「Elsewhere, Noah Reyes also took Jimmy Horne to Pedestrian Street.」

He was incredibly generous, spending money as if it were nothing. He bought everything that caught Jimmy’s eye. He also bought numerous toys, clothes, food, and other items for Jimmy, far more than needed. Bodyguards followed, each carrying two large bags of purchases. The scene was beyond spectacular; it was a truly impressive sight.

After strolling through Pedestrian Street, Noah Reyes walked hand in hand with Jimmy.

This feeling is so warm, Noah thought. It’s something I’ve never experienced in my thirty-seven years.

Neither father nor son knew that Adele Horne was also shopping on Pedestrian Street.

Women tend to be picky when shopping, so Adele had not yet left Pedestrian Street.

As she emerged from a high-end children’s clothing store, laden with bags big and small, she happened to see an impressive sight: Noah Reyes’s dozen or so men, each carrying two bags, walking in a line.

She stared in stunned silence for a moment before chuckling to herself. Who is this, making such a grand display? Why not just buy out the entire street and take it home? she mused. I used to shop almost every day, practically a shopaholic, but even I was never this extravagant!

The men in black blocked her view, so she hadn’t yet spotted her precious son.

Averting her gaze, she struggled with her bags as she headed towards the street entrance.

As Noah passed another upscale toy store, he pulled Jimmy inside.

The dozen or so men in black stood like sentinels outside the store, each holding two bags, drawing considerable attention from passersby.

"Uncle, I already have lots of toys. My aunt’s company is full of them!" Jimmy said, even as he picked up another toy.

Noah chuckled. Even if Julia gave Jimmy every toy in her company, the gifts I give him have a different meaning, he thought.

Perhaps it was divine providence finally siding with Noah, or maybe sheer serendipity, but just as Adele passed the toy store, she decided to walk in.

There were other customers in the store, so neither Adele nor Noah noticed the other’s presence.

Noah only had eyes for his son.

Adele had come in primarily because this toy store was a client of Artisan, and she wanted to check on how well their toys were selling.

"Uncle, I want this toy!" Jimmy’s voice suddenly rang out.

Adele froze. How can I be hearing my son’s voice? Am I missing him so much that I’m imagining things? Auditory hallucinations?

She quickly looked around and, to her utter surprise, spotted her son’s small figure. It’s not a hallucination! I really did hear his voice!

She immediately hurried forward, calling out joyfully, "Jimmy!"

At the sound of her voice, both Jimmy and Noah turned.

Adele found herself standing right behind Noah. She didn’t recognize him, but he was staring intently at her.

I’ve been searching for her for nearly six months! Noah thought, his mind racing. At first, I couldn’t find her because I didn’t know her name. Later, Glades interfered, and I still couldn’t locate her. Even when I found out where she’d gone, my men always came back empty-handed. And now, unexpectedly, here she is, standing right behind me.

Noah didn’t betray his surging emotions; he simply gazed unblinkingly at Adele.

She’s still as beautiful as she was all those years ago, he thought. But she’s matured so much, become even more captivating.

"Mommy?"

Jimmy, too, was astounded to see his mother there.

"Jimmy, what are you doing here? Who brought you?" Adele started to reach for her son, but Noah blocked her path. She looked up politely at the man who seemed frozen like a statue, only his eyes moving, and said, "Sir, could you please step aside?"

Noah didn’t budge.

He continued to stare at her, his gaze intense, scrutinizing her from head to toe. His focus was so unwavering that Adele began to wonder if he was unhinged. Who stares at a stranger like that? she thought, unnerved.

"Sir? Are you alright?" Adele asked, a little concerned.

The next moment, Noah abruptly pulled her into a fierce embrace. Her hands were full, and with his sudden movement, some bags tumbled to the ground, their contents spilling out.
