Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 719: Searched Everywhere, Only to Find it Behind Me (3)_1
Jimmy Horne thought for a moment, shook his head, and said, "Let’s go shopping and buy things, okay?"
Jimmy Horne remembered all the tempting promises Noah Reyes had just made and wanted him to fulfill every single one.
"Okay." Noah Reyes agreed without a second thought.
Seeing his son’s little face flush red with happiness, Noah Reyes smiled and asked, "Billy, are you happy?" After his son nodded, he continued with anticipation, "Billy, could you call me ’daddy’?"
"Uncle, but you’re not my daddy," Jimmy Horne said, blinking at Noah Reyes.
No matter how much he liked this Uncle, since Mommy said he wasn’t his daddy, then he wasn’t his daddy. That meant he couldn’t call him that.
"I could be your daddy, Billy. Could you call me ’daddy,’ please? Didn’t you say you wanted me to be your godfather? A godfather is a kind of daddy too. You call me ’daddy’ first, then I’ll go find your Mommy and tell her I want to be your godfather, okay?" Noah Reyes coaxed.
Glades Horne, holding Ivan Horne, walked beside them. Hearing Noah Reyes coaxing Jimmy Horne to call him ’daddy,’ he purposefully reminded Jimmy Horne, "Jimmy, you can’t just call anyone ’daddy,’ or your Mommy will be upset."
Noah Reyes immediately shot Glades Horne a glare.
If he kept quiet, no one would mistake him for a mute.
Damn Glades Horne!
But... who was to blame for him being so overbearing with Glades Horne in the past?
Now... it was karma!
Noah Reyes’s feelings shifted from initial anger to eventual resignation and tolerance.
If Glades Horne didn’t stir up trouble, he wouldn’t be Glades Horne.
Jimmy Horne blinked, saying nothing.
He liked Noah Reyes. Noah Reyes gave him a taste of a father’s love, and he really wanted to call Noah Reyes ’daddy.’ However, he still had his principles: if he wasn’t his daddy, then he wasn’t his daddy. He couldn’t just call him that, no matter how much he liked him, really, really liked him.
"Billy, I’m not lying to you, I really am your daddy. Look, we look so much alike. It’s because we’re father and son that we resemble each other. Billy, please call me ’daddy,’ just once," Noah Reyes continued to coax Jimmy Horne, ignoring Glades Horne.
His face was filled with longing, and his eyes, full of gentle affection, remained fixed on Jimmy Horne as he continued to coax him.
If Jimmy Horne truly refused to call him ’daddy’ on his own, then he would lose.
He couldn’t lose!
He absolutely couldn’t lose!
"Uncle, you’re not my daddy!" Jimmy Horne said, finding it very difficult.
Seeing the yearning on Noah Reyes’s face and his affectionate gaze made his heart tighten painfully. Especially when he stressed that Noah Reyes wasn’t his daddy and saw the pained look on Noah Reyes’s face, he felt an even deeper ache. He didn’t understand what was happening or why he felt this way.
He was still too young; he couldn’t understand it.
Hearing his son repeatedly insist that he wasn’t his daddy, Noah Reyes’s heart began to ache too.
He was going to lose!
He knew his chances of winning were slim, yet he had still made the bet. But now, he was about to lose.
From now on, he wouldn’t be able to look for Adele anymore, wouldn’t be able to see his son’s adorable face again. He had already missed four years of his child’s development; was he going to miss his son’s entire life of growing up?
It was his fault!
He had been too arrogant. He shouldn’t have agreed to the bet with Glades Horne. He should have acted like a scoundrel and shamelessly kept pestering them.
That wrenching pain, that twisting agony, it was unbearable.
Noah Reyes subconsciously hugged his son even tighter.
His voice was low and hoarse as he said, "Billy, Daddy knows he’s let you down, let your Mommy down too. Daddy was wrong. Give Daddy a chance to make it up to you, okay? Billy, call me Daddy, will you? Just once, just one time is enough." As he spoke, the pain on his face grew more intense, more profound.
If he still couldn’t get his son to call him Daddy, then he really would have to resort to a trick.
Because he couldn’t lose!
He didn’t want to lose!
He didn’t want to miss his son’s growing up again!
But he... actually... really didn’t want to resort to a trick.
Jimmy Horne stared at him blankly. All the joy from their earlier play had vanished. He felt like crying. Seeing Uncle like this, he really wanted to cry.
Why was it like this?
Julia, who was following behind, coughed softly, signaling the bodyguards to act.
The bodyguard understood. He was already walking behind Noah Reyes anyway. He quickly stuck the prepared paper with the word "Daddy" onto Noah Reyes’s back. Noah Reyes was the kind of man who would react instantly to the slightest touch. So, as the bodyguard stuck the paper on his back, even while holding his son, Noah Reyes abruptly spun around and quickly felt his back, finding the paper.
Noah Reyes stopped, tore off the paper with the word "Daddy" written on it, and, playing along, deliberately glared at the bodyguard, asking, "What’s this?"
"Let me see." Curious, Jimmy Horne took the paper from Noah Reyes’s hand.
Glades Horne also saw the word and instantly sensed trouble. He wanted to stop Jimmy Horne from reading the word on the paper, but he was a few seconds too late. Jimmy Horne held up the paper towards Noah Reyes and instinctively read out, "Daddy." Since he was being held in Noah Reyes’s arms the whole time, reading it like that was tantamount to calling Noah Reyes "Daddy."
The next moment, Noah Reyes ecstatically pressed his son’s head into his chest.
Glades Horne’s face darkened. "That doesn’t count! You cheated!" he exclaimed.
"You didn’t say I couldn’t cheat," Noah Reyes retorted with a wild laugh. "Anyway, Billy called me Daddy of his own accord. I win! Future big brother-in-law, please don’t try to stop me from seeing Adele and Billy anymore, okay? Let’s just let things happen naturally."
"You..."
Glades Horne looked furious.
Noah Reyes subtly cast a grateful look at Julia.
Julia’s soft cough just now made him realize she was taking the blame as the mastermind behind the trick.
"Billy, thank you! Daddy will take you shopping!" Noah Reyes said happily, quickly carrying his son out of the Playground.
Jimmy Horne, however, looked puzzled.
He didn’t understand why this Uncle wasn’t sad anymore.
Hearing they could go shopping, he temporarily pushed his confusion deep down, not bothering to waste energy figuring it out.
Glades Horne got into the car with his son. After Julia also got in, he drove directly towards the Horne Family residence.
Hansen Ruiz also returned home with his wife and daughter.
Neither of them followed Noah Reyes any longer, leaving the father and son to spend time alone together.
Throughout the journey, Glades Horne kept his lips pressed together, not saying a word.
Julia knew he was angry.
