Chapter 725: Chapter 724: Love Rival (2)_1

Sometimes, he would also act playfully and irreverently, as if he didn’t take the world seriously.

The old lady would say that his character was as deep as the ocean, not so easily transparent to others. She said that when he grew up and entered the business world, he would certainly be a dangerous and formidable figure, absolutely surpassing his father, Glades Horne.

Glades Horne was unpredictable. He was unfathomable; no one could truly grasp his nature.

However, in front of Jimmy Horne and Camila Ruiz, his two childhood friends, he was the most genuine and pure.

Jimmy also greeted them.

Glades let go of Julia’s hand. Julia walked over, sat down beside the old lady, and asked with concern if she had slept well last night.

"Yes, Grandma slept very well. Grandma wished that daylight would never come," the old lady replied lightly.

She had dreamed of her deceased spouse all night and didn’t know how much she cherished the darkness.

The stubborn morning sun forced its way through a slight gap in the curtains into her room. She reluctantly ended her time with her husband and awoke with resignation.

Julia looked her over. Seeing her eyes still held some spirit, Julia knew she had slept well last night. She then turned her head to look at the sunlight outside; the rising morning sun was very gentle. "Grandma, shall I help you out for a walk?" The old lady hadn’t been in the sun for a long time, and her complexion had become a bit pale. Julia felt distressed and worried looking at her.

The old lady looked very sickly, and they were all very worried that she might not live through the year.

Although everyone must die someday, they all wished for their loved ones to live to a ripe old age.

The old lady slowly turned her head to look outside. She saw Julia’s worried expression and then looked at her beloved grandson sitting opposite her, who also showed deep concern. She nodded and said, "Alright then, Glades, you and Julia help Grandma take a walk outside. We’ll come back later for breakfast. First, let the two young masters have some breakfast, and then have Adele’s bodyguards take them to school."

While indicating that Glades and Julia should help her for a walk, the old lady also gave instructions to the nannies of the two children.

After the kidnapping incident, even though it had ended without harm, the Horne family no longer let the two children take the school bus. If the masters were busy, they would have the bodyguards or Uncle Ying pick them up.

"Grandma, I’ll take them to school, don’t worry," said Adele Horne, who had just come downstairs, hearing the old lady’s instructions and joining the conversation.

Her expression was very calm and gentle, showing none of the fear she had felt when she encountered Noah Reyes the night before, nor the pain of crying. However, her dark circles were severe, indicating she had suffered from insomnia last night.

Noah Reyes’s domineering attitude towards her and his actions had made her heart flutter.

She had the misconception that Noah Reyes was not there to take her son from her.

But if Noah Reyes wasn’t there to take her son, what was he doing? And why did he involve the Valence Group? Surely it couldn’t be for her, could it?

Thinking of how Noah Reyes had suddenly pulled her into his embrace, the tight hold, and the extremely gentle way he had wiped away her tears, Adele felt a strange sensation welling up inside. What this strange feeling was, she couldn’t quite distinguish at the moment.

"That’s even better, Grandma is reassured now," the old lady said and then slowly walked out of the Main House with Glades and Julia’s support. As soon as she stepped out of the main doorway, she involuntarily squinted. Finding the gentle morning sun particularly dazzling, she sighed lowly, "It’s only early morning, and the sunlight is already blinding. It’s better inside."

As she spoke, she considered scrapping the walk.

"Grandma, you haven’t been out for a walk in a long time, that’s why the sunshine seems so glaring," Julia said gently, carefully helping the old lady down the steps, not letting her shrink away.

The old lady just smiled and sighed, "Grandma is old now, I don’t feel like moving around."

Inside, it was cool with air conditioning, but outside it was unbearably hot. The heatwave was even more intolerable for the elderly lady. Moreover, she had her reasons for not wanting to come out, reasons she didn’t wish to express. She didn’t want her children and grandchildren to worry and panic over her.

She had lived for eighty-nine years, and her ninetieth birthday was approaching. She had reached a venerable age, and there was not much to regret. If there were any regrets, it was that when she passed away, her eldest son and daughter-in-law would divorce, and her only granddaughter had not yet found happiness, still a single mother with her son. But these were things she was powerless to change.

"Grandma’s not old. Grandma looks like she’s just seventy," Glades Horne said warmly. "Grandma, as long as you keep up with your morning walks and sunbathing in the Courtyard, and take walks after meals like before, your health will start to improve."

The old lady had always been very conscious of health and wellness, which was why she had lived such a long life. But lately, her behavior was a world of difference compared to before.

The doctor had said that if the old lady could continue living as before, she might have another year or two left. However, now she didn’t want to move or go outside and just wanted to sleep all day, which was very bad for her health. The doctor bleakly stated that this would only shorten her life.

"I’m old, and I miss your grandfather..." the old lady said, walking slowly and sighing softly. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

A chill went through Glades’s heart, and he exchanged a glance with Julia.

"Grandma’s thinking about seeing your grandfather soon," the old lady continued to sigh.

Her relationship with her husband had been as good and devoted as Glades and Julia’s. Sadly, her husband had passed away before her. After so many years, she really missed him.

"Grandma!" Glades and Julia cried out softly at the same time.

The old lady just smiled and said no more of such things to her grandson.

"Glades, Ivan is four years old now. Do you and Julia plan to have a second child? After having a son, it would be nice to have a daughter too, daughters are so thoughtful," the old lady suddenly shifted the conversation to having more children.

Julia immediately smiled shyly.

Once, when she returned to her maternal home, her mother had said the same thing, urging her to have another child, a daughter. Back then, she had simply smiled without making any promises.

Her mother-in-law naturally hoped she would have another child. No, her mother-in-law initially wanted her to give birth to eight or ten sons and then have a daughter as the apple of her eye.

Remembering what her mother-in-law had said back then, Julia couldn’t help but chuckle, yet she was also filled with emotion. Along the way, she had faced many challenges. Fortunately, Glades’s love for her had only grown; he always stood behind her, providing support and strength. This had helped her overcome her mother-in-law’s disapproval and her sister-in-law’s dissatisfaction, leading to her currently blissful and happy marriage.

Glades looked at Julia tenderly, answering with a gentle smile, "Grandma, if you’re still willing to look after our children for us, then we’ll have the second one."
