"You two should have another one while you're still young," the old lady said. "If you wait until you're older, you might want to but won't be able to."

"Grandma, isn't Ivan doing well?" Julia smiled.

"Ivan is very good; he will be even more impressive than Glades in the future. But..." The old lady smiled and didn't continue.

Old people might wish for it, but it wasn't something they could make happen. Today's younger generation doesn't like to have many children, complaining about the pressure.

"Grandma, we will let nature take its course. If Heaven blesses Ivan with a brother or a sister, I will give birth to him or her."

The old lady nodded.

Soon, Julia drove the old lady to the Activity Center for the elderly.

Upon entering the Activity Center she used to frequent, the old lady found that many of her old friends were no longer there. When she inquired, she learned that those she couldn't see were either bedridden with serious illness or had passed away. This news made her sigh repeatedly.

In the Activity Center, the old lady walked around as if just going through the motions, supported by Julia. Not finding any of her particularly close old friends, she lost the desire to stay any longer and asked Julia to take her back.

When leaving the Activity Center, the old lady suddenly changed her mind and asked Julia to take her to Valence Group for a visit.

It was a place where she and her late husband had poured much sweat and heart into when they were young. She hadn't been back to Valence Group for many years and felt a special desire today to see what it had become.

「Valence Group.」

In the huge Conference Room, only two people were present: Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz.

Glades Horne sat at the head of the table, leisurely drinking coffee, leaning against the black chair with a calm expression, seemingly in a good mood.

Hansen Ruiz was in a similar pose, but instead of coffee, he was munching on a packet of cookies.

Glancing at him, Glades Horne said with a slight chuckle, "When did you revert to childhood?"

"Wasn't it you who made me revert to childhood?" Understanding the deeper meaning behind his words, Hansen Ruiz broke a cookie in half, tilted his head back, opened his mouth wide, and tossed the cookie pieces into his mouth without dropping any—catching them all.

In Glades's office, there was a snack cabinet full of treats that Julia seldom touched. It was a waste to have them sitting there, a waste of money and space. He was merely helping his boss dispose of garbage; after all, he was the Chief Assistant.

"If outsiders saw you like this, their jaws would drop in shock," Glades Horne said as he put down his coffee cup, stood up, walked to the window, and drew back the curtains to look at the blue sky and white clouds outside.

The sun was blazing; just looking outside made one feel scorchingly hot. It was July, the peak of summer.

"Glades, about Noah Reyes, are you just going to let things be?" Hansen Ruiz also stood up, still holding and munching on the packet of cookies, looking bored.

He was only eating cookies because he was bored; previously, he wouldn't have even glanced at them. Now, it felt like the world was at peace, and he couldn't find anything interesting to do.

"What else do you suggest?" Glades Horne asked, his expression inscrutable.

He had made a bet with Noah Reyes. Even if Noah Reyes had won by trickery, a win was still a win, especially since he himself had left Noah Reyes an out. So, on the surface, he naturally had to keep his word and no longer prevent Noah Reyes from meeting Adele and their son. Behind the scenes, however, he would trip Noah Reyes up when appropriate.

"Find countless boyfriends for Adele, just to piss that guy off!" Hansen Ruiz chuckled mischievously. Any smart person could see Noah Reyes's feelings for Adele. He felt that emotions were the one thing that could make Noah Reyes agitated yet helpless. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"What do you take my sister for?" Glades Horne immediately turned his head and glared at him. Finding countless boyfriends? Wouldn't that make people think Adele is promiscuous?

Hansen Ruiz quickly tossed the packet of cookies behind him, landing it accurately on the long conference table. He explained, "That's not what I meant. I meant we should introduce boyfriends to Adele, so Noah Reyes doesn't get his way too easily. By the way, Jimmy is back with your Horne Family now, so Adele has returned too, right?"

Glades Horne pursed his lips and replied in a low voice, "Last night, Adele ran into Noah Reyes and Jimmy together on Pedestrian Street. The three of them just met like that. Adele doesn't want to talk much about Noah Reyes; I learned the details from James."

He then looked at Hansen Ruiz with an expression of regret, saying, "When you were chasing Rachel Bailey, I should have arranged countless girlfriends for you. Alas, what a pity, I missed the chance."

Hansen Ruiz immediately felt his scalp tingle.

"But it's not too late now. How about I arrange countless mistresses for you? To spice up your plain married life," Glades Horne said teasingly, verbally tormenting Hansen Ruiz on his sister's behalf.

When it came to spoiling his wife, Hansen Ruiz definitely couldn't compete with him. But in terms of fearing his wife, Hansen Ruiz was his superior by far.

Hansen Ruiz's face turned green. He quickly begged for mercy, saying, "Please just consider my earlier suggestion as me talking nonsense."

"If you're really that bored, go help your little woman sell vegetables!" Glades Horne chuckled.

KNOCK KNOCK. The sound of knocking came from the door.

Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz instantly composed themselves, regaining their usual aloof and steady demeanors. Glades Horne spoke in a low voice, "Come in."

Secretary Yang pushed the door open and said respectfully, "CEO, Chief Assistant, the CEO's wife and the old lady have arrived."

Both men instinctively turned to face Secretary Yang. Glades Horne's dark eyes widened slightly as he asked, "Julia and Grandma are here?" He immediately headed towards the door.

"Yes, the Security Department just called up," Secretary Yang said, stepping aside to let Glades Horne pass.

Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz walked out of the Conference Room and headed straight for the elevator.

The two men entered the elevator one after another.

Julia helped the old lady out of the car. The sun was very strong, so she took an umbrella—one that was always kept in the car—to shade the old lady from the scorching sunlight.

The head of the Security Department came over personally, his face full of warm smiles as he and Julia supported the old lady toward the Office Building.

"Be careful, Old Madam."

The old lady smiled at the head of the Security Department, a man in his thirties, and said, "Young man, you look unfamiliar. When did you join the company?"

"Old Madam, I joined the company ten years ago. Back then, I was just a junior security guard, and I had the chance to see you once," the head replied with a smile.

He was considered a seasoned employee.

"Not bad, not bad. Keep working hard and striving to climb higher," the old lady encouraged.

The head nodded with a smile.

In a large corporation, as long as one works hard, there's always a chance to climb higher. He was now the head of the Security Department. If he was willing, put in the effort, and learned about management, he too could gradually become a senior executive.
