Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 730 - 729_1
"Grandma."
Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz had just descended to the first floor when the elderly lady was assisted into the Reception Hall. The receptionists were already greeting her, politely saying hello.
The elderly lady, along with the late Mr. Horne Sr., was a founder of the Valence Group. Everyone here respected her, even though she no longer meddled in the company's affairs and rarely visited.
"Madam," Hansen Ruiz called out with a warm smile.
The elderly lady said cheerfully, "Don't fuss, everyone. I was just bored, so I asked Julia to accompany me for a look around the company. Please, continue with your work; don't mind this old lady. Glades, Ruiz, the same goes for you two. Don't follow me around." After speaking, she then said to Julia, "Julia, let's just look around casually."
"Grandma, let me help you," Glades Horne said, signaling for the head of the Security Department to return to his post. He stepped forward to assist the elderly lady with Julia.
Julia looked at him and said, "Glades, you should get back to your work. You're the CEO; if you're following us, how can anyone else get their work done?"
"Julia's right. You two are not to follow," the elderly lady stated firmly.
She removed Glades's hand, signaling for Julia to help her take a stroll around the first floor.
Glades and Hansen remained where they were.
Since the elderly lady had insisted, they could only comply.
「Huayi.」
Noah Reyes left the Police Station and immediately returned to stake out the entrance of Huayi.
Seeing Gio Coleman's car still there, his bitterness and rage surged anew.
He sat in his car, clutching the steering wheel so tightly, wishing he could wring it off as if it were Gio Coleman's head, twisting it into little pieces.
His dark gaze was unfathomable, seemingly devoid of emotion, but upon closer inspection, one could discern that his jealousy and anger were on the verge of exploding.
He would not allow any other man to take away the woman he had yearned for for nearly five years and searched for for half a year.
He took out his phone, intending to call Adele Horne, only to remember that he had snatched her phone battery and SIM card the night before. Patting his pockets, he realized he didn't have Adele's battery or SIM card with him.
He had no choice but to dial Huayi's switchboard number.
"Hello, Huayi Toy Industry Company. How may I assist you?" came the clear and sweet voice of the receptionist.
Noah Reyes spoke in a low tone, "I'm looking for Jimmy Horne's parent, Miss Adele."
"May I ask who is calling?"
"I'm Jimmy's teacher," Noah lied.
He knew that if he revealed his name, Adele definitely wouldn't take his call.
The receptionist politely said, "Please hold," and then transferred the call to Adele Horne's office.
Adele Horne was in her office, but she was too distracted to work, even though she tried to act nonchalant. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Gio Coleman was still in her office.
"Adele, is something on your mind? Still upset about that ruffian from earlier?" Gio approached her desk, sat down, and looked at her with a warm smile, teasing, "So, our class's most formidable beauty has someone pestering her now, eh? Not bad."
At his words, Adele burst into laughter. She shot her old classmate a mock glare and said, "Gio, are you deliberately asking for a beating? I might have been a handful back then, but I've reformed into a first-class, law-abiding citizen now."
Seeing Adele laugh, a flicker of tenderness flashed in Gio's eyes. He asked, as if casually, "That man is your son's father, isn't he?"
This was the first time he had seen Noah Reyes, but he had met Jimmy Horne before. Jimmy resembled Noah so closely that anyone seeing them together would assume they were father and son.
As Gio asked the question, he felt a pang of anxiety, but unfortunately, Adele didn't notice. Her smile vanished, and she lowered her head, not replying.
Seeing this, Gio quickly and considerately said, "I'm sorry. I don't think I should have asked that."
Lifting her eyes, Adele looked at Gio and then said in a low, pained voice, "He is Jimmy's father." She had lived her whole life without being touched by any man other than Noah Reyes. Jimmy was Noah's son; that was an ironclad fact. She had denied it to Noah's face, but reality offered no room for self-deception.
"What kind of person is he?" So it really is him!
Gio asked, a hint of eagerness in his voice.
That man is so violent, so domineering, and he's Jimmy's biological father. If I want to pursue Adele, I need to find out who my rival is.
Adele said nothing.
Subconsciously, she didn't want to reveal Noah's identity. It wasn't to protect Noah; it was to protect her poor son. She didn't want the outside world to know that Noah was a villain, a man who killed as casually as crushing an ant. Jimmy, only four years old, had already endured gossip and harm. If Glades and Julia hadn't stepped in to warn certain people, Jimmy wouldn't be living as carefreely as he was today.
Adele was filled with gratitude for her brother and sister-in-law.
"He looks quite wealthy," Gio remarked when Adele didn't answer directly, probing gently.
Adele still didn't speak.
Gio didn't press further and changed the subject, trying to lighten her mood.
Just then, the phone in Adele's office rang.
Picking up the receiver, Adele answered professionally, "Hello, this is Adele Horne."
"Adele." Noah Reyes's deep voice came through.
Adele immediately wanted to hang up, but Noah's voice was quicker, "If you dare hang up, I'll take our son!"
"Noah Reyes, how dare you! You bastard!" Adele's expression changed instantly.
What she feared most was Noah coming to take their son. Even though she was furious and desperately wanted to hang up, to stop hearing his voice, she didn't dare. She was terrified he would do as he threatened and actually take their son away. Her son was her Achilles' heel.
Feeling threatened, Adele's animosity toward Noah Reyes deepened.
She considered Noah Reyes an absolute Demon. Despite his impeccable attire and imposing presence, he was an undeniable Demon. He had sounded so reasonable last night, claiming he wasn't there to take their son, yet now he was using that very threat against her.
"What exactly do you want?" Adele growled through clenched teeth.
Hearing her conversation, Gio got up and walked to the window. Looking out, he saw Noah Reyes's car parked in front of the company again. Who exactly is this guy? He was taken away by police officers, yet he has the audacity to return so soon. Isn't he afraid of being taken away by police officers again? Or does he simply not take the Police Station seriously? Regardless of who he is, judging by Adele's reaction, I still have a chance.
