Chapter 745: Chapter 744: If You Dare, Say It Again (3)_1

Adele would wake up tomorrow. The consequences Glades mentioned probably referred to Adele misunderstanding him upon waking, thinking he had taken advantage of her while she was drunk. If that were the case, the distance between them would grow even wider.

Late into the quiet night, his car arrived, its horn piercing the silence.

Upon hearing the car, Uncle Ying quickly came out of his room. Seeing someone already moving to open the main gate, he casually turned to go back, but then a sudden thought struck him—the car outside was unfamiliar; it wasn’t one of the masters’ vehicles. He immediately rushed toward the gate, calling out softly, "Don’t open it just yet!"

The servant who was opening the gate promptly stopped.

Seeing Uncle Ying, Noah Reyes wound down his car window, leaned out, and said coldly, "Your Miss Adele got drunk at the pub. I’ve brought her back."

Uncle Ying glanced into the car. Its body and windows were black, making it difficult for him to see clearly inside.

Hearing that Miss Adele was in the car, Uncle Ying opened the main gate and stepped outside. Through the car window Noah Reyes had wound down, he finally saw Adele asleep in the passenger seat. However, he didn’t fully open the gate, instead simply saying, "We’ll take Miss Adele; we can help her in. Thank you for bringing our Miss Adele back."

Noah Reyes’s handsome face darkened, and his eyes turned icy, sweeping toward Uncle Ying like two sharp beams. He said in a low, cold voice, "Open the gate!"

She’s my woman! Only I can support her. Who else dares to even try and touch her? Let them!

Even though this uncle appeared to be in his forties or fifties and had a loyal face, Noah Reyes still wouldn’t allow him to support Adele.

Julia heard the car and came downstairs, walking out of the house.

Hearing the subtle footsteps, Uncle Ying turned his head. Seeing Julia, he took a few steps back towards the house and said with concern, "Young Madam, did the noise disturb you?"

Looking at Noah Reyes, Julia instructed, "Uncle Ying, open the gate and let him in."

Uncle Ying said no more and opened the villa’s large gate, allowing Noah Reyes to drive into the courtyard.

Noah Reyes drove straight up to the front door of the house before stopping. He then opened the car door, gently lifted Adele out, and turned to Julia, who was approaching. "Which floor is Adele’s room on? I’ll carry her up to rest."

"Fifth floor, the one near the stairs," Julia answered. She surprisingly acquiesced, allowing Noah Reyes to carry Adele into the house.

Noah Reyes knew most of the Horne Family members were asleep, so he tried to keep his footsteps as light as possible. Carrying Adele, he reached the fifth floor, found her room, and pushed the door. It wasn’t locked and opened easily.

When he laid Adele on the bed and began to look around her room, he unexpectedly saw the character "Reyes" affixed to the wall, hammered and battered to pieces.

His eyes darkened again.

Turning, he walked slowly to the "Reyes" character, which was as pockmarked as a hornet’s nest. Reaching out, he touched it. It was his surname, Reyes.

Did she write this? Did she hammer it? Did she find out my surname from the necklace and then vent her hatred for me like this?

"All these years, Adele has written countless ’Reyes’ characters and hammered so many to pieces." Julia had appeared in the room at some unknown point. Seeing Noah Reyes standing before the battered character, his expression inscrutable, she explained faintly.

Noah Reyes turned to look at Julia, then at Adele, an indescribable feeling welling up inside him.

For all these years, he had painstakingly learned to draw her portrait, while she had painstakingly hammered "Reyes" characters to vent her feelings. He couldn’t forget her, and she couldn’t forget him; it was just that the meaning behind their inability to forget was different.

Could he optimistically think that he was in her heart?

"It’s getting late, Mr. Reyes. Please leave," Julia said softly, indicating it was time for him to go.

Noah Reyes looked at Adele but didn’t move.

"This is Adele’s home. You’ve brought her back; what else is there to worry about?"

Noah Reyes withdrew his gaze and silently glanced at Julia, his eyes carrying a plea.

Julia smiled faintly. "She’s my sister-in-law. Of course, I will take care of her."

Only then did Noah Reyes turn to leave.

As he walked away, his steps felt somewhat heavy.

It seemed the situation between him and Adele was not as simple as he had thought. Even if he truly had his reasons all those years ago, and he had explained them, the fact remained that Adele had hated him for so many years. Such deep-seated hatred couldn’t be erased overnight.

How could he erase her hatred for him? How could he make her turn that hate into love, forgive him, love him, agree to marry him, and return with him to the Reyes Family?

「The next day, Saturday.」

In July, the weather was sunny almost every day; even occasional rain quickly gave way to clear skies.

Julia and Glades planned to take the children to the beach.

First thing in the morning, Julia called Rachel Bailey to arrange a meet-up with Rachel’s family of three.

So, Rachel also got up very early and started to prepare for the outing. She gathered swimwear for her family of three, her daughter’s pink inflatable swimming ring, some water and snacks from the refrigerator, and clean clothes.

The villa was still quiet. Only Rachel was busy.

Because the family planned to go out on Saturday, Rachel kindly gave several nannies the day off. She kept only one servant to attend to Mrs. Ruiz, who had arrived just a few days prior.

Hansen Ruiz was still sound asleep. As for Camila Ruiz, it went without saying that if there were no special weekend plans, she would sleep until Rachel called her for breakfast.

After Rachel had prepared everything, she went into the kitchen to make breakfast for the family.

As long as she was home, Rachel prepared almost all three meals a day. It wasn’t that she was looking for extra chores; rather, the father and daughter duo in her household had been spoiled by her cooking and become picky eaters. When the nannies cooked, both Hansen and Camila would often pick at their food or even refuse to eat, making the nannies feel dejected and assume their culinary skills were to blame.

Mrs. Ruiz was a light sleeper. She woke up when Rachel came downstairs.

After freshening up and tidying her appearance, she came downstairs.

She was in her sixties yet still wore relatively high heels. Rachel had suggested she stop wearing them given her age, but Mrs. Ruiz wouldn’t listen. She felt she was still young; she maintained her appearance well and looked to be only in her early fifties. How could someone like her, who cared so much about her appearance, not wear high heels?

The last time she came downstairs, she took a tumble. Now, she was very careful when descending the stairs. But when someone’s luck is down, no matter how careful they are, they can still fall.

Just then, Mrs. Ruiz had only descended two steps when she suddenly twisted her waist. Then, she missed her footing and tumbled down the stairs.

"ARGH!" She had already twisted her waist, and rolling down the stairs aggravated the injury. She only had time for that single cry of pain before she tumbled to the bottom of the staircase.
