Queen Mommy's Six Genius Babies Found the CEO Daddy-Chapter 112: Suspicion
Sophia felt completely dazed.
Lucas pulled her into his arms. "Don’t overthink it. It’s not your fault — and him showing up out of nowhere like that? It’s too weird to be coincidence."
It wasn’t that he was being petty; it was just strange.
"Why were you so distracted today?" he asked.
"I saw a silhouette that looked exactly like my mother’s back, that’s why..." she said.
"Then here’s the thing — why did a woman show up at all? And why did Andrew happen to be there at the same time?"
Lucas stayed calm. He understood the woman in his arms was losing her composure, and if he started panicking too, things would only get worse.
Sophia realized, a beat later, "Right — how did he just happen to be there?"
She had been standing at the LT Pictures entrance — Andrew’s company was in a totally different part of town, even facing the opposite direction. For him to be there felt like too much of a coincidence.
Lucas scanned the area, then lowered his voice. "Leave this to me. Lately you’ve been watching Andrew at the hospital — how’s that going?"
Sophia nodded.
...
The hospital room.
"And Andrew — you went out of your way to save her, and she wants to repay us with betrayal?" Susan was sobbing, hysterical. "Look at you, lying there like this, and she didn’t even come to see you. Why did you even save her?"
Sophia, tired of the crying, pushed the door open and said, "Enough. Don’t push it."
Before she left, Susan still wailed and cursed — Sophia had gone home to change into clean clothes before coming back, and Susan just kept yelling. Didn’t she get thirsty from all that crying?
"The one lying in that bed is my husband! He’s your father, Sophia — don’t you have any conscience?" Susan cried.
"And if he really dies, wouldn’t you stand to inherit more of the Morgan Family fortune?" she sneered.
Susan’s eyes widened. "What are you saying?"
"Either shut up, or go back and cook. When Andrew wakes up, he’ll need to eat."
"I won’t! If anyone’s going to do it, it’s you!" Susan snapped.
Sophia raised an eyebrow. Meanwhile, things at home weren’t exactly peaceful.
Billy held the clothes Sophia had changed out of and frowned. "Angela, smell this."
He handed the garment to his younger siblings. A foul odor hit them.
"There’s a blood smell — it should smell like rust. Even if it’s old, it wouldn’t smell like Mom’s clothes," Dustin frowned. "Billy, does it smell like chicken blood to you?"
Billy’s brow lifted; an idea formed in his head.
"Mom’s at the hospital, Dad’s out investigating. We can’t just do nothing. Faye, call Aunt Harper."
Harper arrived in a hurry, and left in a hurry a little while later.
Andrew finally woke up the next morning, pale and weak.
When he saw Sophia, relief softened his face. "I’m glad you’re okay," he managed.
"Why did you save me? I wanted you dead," Sophia said, then poured a glass of water and handed it to him. But he could barely move.
"This is such a mess," Sophia muttered as she helped him sit up.
Moisture filled his throat; Andrew let out a slow, shaky breath.
"Seeing you unharmed is a relief," he said.
"Do you think that changes anything? That’ll make me drop my grudge?" she shot back.
Andrew struggled to support himself, looking exhausted. "I’m old, and I made mistakes when I was younger. Sophia — I know I was wrong. Will you come back? I’ll kneel at your mother’s grave and beg for forgiveness. If you want the company, I’ll give it to you. I’ll give you everything, if you’ll just come home."
Sophia stared at him without a word.
The man in front of her seemed to have stepped back in time — gentle, protective, like he had been years ago.
"Aren’t you afraid Susan will tear the house apart for you?" she asked.
"Everything is mine. I have the right to give it to whoever I want," he replied.
"No way! Dream on, Andrew — I’m telling you, everything belongs to my daughter! She’s the seductress’s child..." Susan shrieked.
"Shut up! Susan, are you trying to kill me with anger?" Andrew burst out coughing violently.
"You cheated on me and now you expect me to clean up your mess? I’m telling you — you’re dreaming!" Susan kept yelling, and Sophia felt a pounding ache behind her eyes.
"Sort out your family business yourselves," she said, turning to walk away.
As she moved down the hall, something familiar caught her eye.
The driver who hit her.
She immediately set off after him.
Why would the man who ran her down yesterday be in the hospital? If he was here to see Andrew, why was he acting so strange — sneaking around like that?
"Wait a moment!" she called as she chased him.
The man heard her and took off running.
"Stop!" Sophia snapped, her gaze hardening.
She sped up, but he picked up his pace too.
Bursting out of the hospital, a cold alarm bell rang in her mind. Yesterday’s man had seemed like a man in his forties — could he still move that fast?
Something was wrong.
She’d barely stopped when, suddenly— a sharp, searing pain exploded in her head.
She went down hard.
The man looked back just in time to jump into a waiting van, and they peeled away.
Hilton Group.
"How’s the investigation coming?" Lucas asked.
"Mr. Hilton, the driver is under investigation. Right now it appears to be an accident," Alex reported. Lucas listened with no real interest.
"If I wanted that outcome, I wouldn’t have sent you to investigate personally. Understand?" Lucas stood, closed his eyes, and drew a deep breath.
"Mr. Hilton, I know what you mean, but—" Alex began.
"I want a definite answer! Don’t tell me you understand if you won’t act. If you understand, go do it!" Lucas snapped. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
For a moment he realized he’d maybe trusted Alex too much — and in critical moments, that trust had made him complacent.
"I’ll go right now, Mr. Hilton," Alex said, frowning as he turned to leave.
Suddenly, Lucas’s phone rang.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Lucas, long time no see. How are you?"
Lucas’s expression changed. "It’s you."
"Yes — it’s me. I should thank you for remembering. By the way, your woman is very well-made. Good figure, pretty face — especially those hands, white and delicate. I heard she’s a designer. Imagine if she didn’t have those hands anymore — what then?" the voice purred.
"Owen Reid — what do you want?" Lucas said, instinctively tense.
The caller laughed softly.
"She’s still out cold, probably about to wake up. If that pretty face of hers were ruined, would you still want her?"
The air around Lucas seemed to drop.
"You... you kidnapped Sophia?!" he demanded.
"That’s right. I have her. Don’t worry — we can talk terms. If you want to save her, come alone to the abandoned lot on DS Road. Remember: come alone, or... you know what will happen."
