Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap-Chapter 553: She’s Heartbroken, He’s in Pain
Lily Turner thought the uncle and nephew might have something important to discuss, so she left the living room and went upstairs alone.
Michael Linton hadn’t said a word earlier because he was secretly observing Lily the whole time. His efforts were not in vain as he noticed some unusual reactions from her.
"Why did you two come back? Don’t use excuses to brush me off." He glanced towards the living room door to make sure the two who had left were out of sight before he asked the question that weighed on his mind.
"She had some unpleasantness with her mother."
When Easton Holmes was stopped by Michael Linton earlier, he realized his uncle wanted to ask him something. Their sudden return would certainly arouse suspicion, as his uncle wasn’t as easy to fool as his grandfather.
At the Turner Family’s house, Michael had already seen how much Sophia Wood opposed the marriage. Hearing Easton’s words, he wasn’t the slightest bit surprised, only puzzled, "Why does her mother oppose you two being together? Is it really just because your mother caused a scene at the Turner’s house?"
This was a reason but definitely not the main one, he could sense that much. However, he couldn’t quite figure out the real reason for now.
"Perhaps it’s because she thinks I’m not good enough for Lily."
Easton shared the same uncertainties and feelings with Michael. He also couldn’t quite understand the real reason for Sophia’s opposition, but one thing he was sure of was that both their mothers were so ruthless to their own children.
If he hadn’t witnessed it himself tonight, he wouldn’t have known that she was enduring the same pain as he was.
Their mothers were too heartless, to the extent that they could even be ruthless to their own grandchildren and nephews.
Michael furrowed his brow, "You’re not good enough for Lily? Did her mother tell you that directly?"
He couldn’t believe such a claim. His nephew was famous in Flame City, the white knight in the hearts of countless heiresses.
It’s no exaggeration to say that if his nephew wanted, many women would approach him voluntarily.
"No, that’s probably what her mother meant," Easton replied uncertainly.
"Probably what she meant?"
It was the first time Michael saw Easton so unsure. His nephew was always decisive and everything was within his grasp.
But in this matter, he saw hesitation and uncertainty in his nephew.
Easton nodded, "Yeah."
Just a simple "yeah," couldn’t be simpler. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Will your wedding with Lily still proceed as planned?" Michael had told Mr. Linton about Easton and Lily’s wedding scheduled for the eighth of next month after returning from the Turner Family. However, now such a situation had arisen.
If the wedding were to be affected by this, he honestly didn’t know how his father would react. Concern would certainly arise.
Lily had just said she could make decisions for herself and didn’t need to consult anyone else. Easton knew very well what she was referring to.
But would she really be happy if her mother didn’t attend the wedding?
If she truly felt so nonchalant and indifferent as she claimed, she wouldn’t have cried so much on the way back earlier.
"Our wedding might be delayed for a bit," he couldn’t stand seeing her unhappy, seeing her sad and crying; it pained him deeply, like someone was pricking his heart with needles.
