Chapter 593: Chapter 593: I Admit Defeat to You

Amelia Linton’s words and actions, although infuriating, Fabian Holmes couldn’t stoop to her level or argue with her, much less do anything to her.

He wasn’t afraid of her doing anything bad to him; he was afraid she would reveal the truth from back then, which would not be good for his young son.

He worried that his young son couldn’t handle such things and might do something impulsive. He had already made his son grow up without a biological mother, and now he couldn’t add new wounds to him.

"You’re right, you’re absolutely right. I concede. Can I go to the study now to get some actual work done?" Fabian Holmes worried that if he didn’t get some fresh air, he might pass out from rage, if not something worse.

After saying this, he suddenly stood up from his seat, glanced down at Amelia Linton, and left the room without waiting for her response, heading towards the door once again.

This time, Amelia Linton didn’t get up to chase after him, nor did she yell at the man preparing to leave; she just raised her head and watched the man striding towards the door.

It wasn’t until he walked out of the room that she slowly retracted her gaze, leaned back, and rested against the sofa.

As soon as she leaned back, tears instantly flowed from the corners of her eyes.

Amelia Linton raised her hand to wipe away the tears running down her cheeks. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes tightly. When she opened them again, the sadness in her eyes was gone.

She reached into her pocket to take out her phone to check the time, but her hand came up empty. It was then that she suddenly remembered Theodore Holmes had snatched it away earlier.

Remembering the phone, Amelia Linton got up and left the room, heading to the second floor to find Theodore Holmes and retrieve her phone. As she reached the corner of the stairs on the second floor, she encountered Theodore Holmes coming down.

"Mom! Were you coming upstairs to find me?"

Theodore Holmes quickly stepped down two stairs to stand on the same step as Amelia Linton, who was coming up.

After all the unpleasantness earlier, Amelia Linton’s heart was filled with resentment, even hatred, towards Theodore Holmes. Her resentment and hatred for him had been there from the beginning.

If it weren’t for trying to win back Fabian Holmes back then, she wouldn’t have brought him home at all. Because of his mother, she could barely hate him soon enough, let alone bring him home to raise.

She did all this solely for his father, yet his father not only did not appreciate it but also called her a madwoman.

Thinking about this, she blurted out, "Do I look like a madwoman to you?"

As soon as she asked, she regretted it, but it was impossible to take it back now.

"Who said you look like a madwoman? My dad?"

Although Theodore Holmes was standing on the same step as Amelia Linton, his tall stature made him tower over her. He looked down at her intently, making her feel inferior.

Amelia Linton took a step up, and suddenly she felt much more comfortable; at least now she didn’t have to tilt her head to look at him.

"Where’s my phone?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

After stepping up, she changed the subject.

"Phone? Your phone isn’t with me. I left it on the sofa when I went upstairs. Didn’t you see it?" Theodore Holmes spread his hands, then checked his pockets, wearing an innocent expression, acting as if he were telling the truth.

Amelia Linton had no doubt about what he said. Glancing at his neatly dressed appearance, she asked, "Where are you planning to go dressed like that?"
