Hearing Easton Holmes angrily questioning Theodore Holmes over the phone, Fabian Holmes roughly understood what was happening, but as for the content of the post, he would only know once he’d seen it.
He wanted to take the phone back from his eldest son and find out what exactly was going on with his second son on the other end of the line, but when he saw the extreme displeasure on his eldest son’s face at that moment, he suppressed the impulse.
Suddenly, the voice changed to Easton Holmes, and Theodore Holmes hesitated for a moment, but not for long.
"Wild guesses? Don’t think you’ve hidden your deeds well. Let me tell you, posting that was just my first step. You and your wife are about to become notorious," Theodore brazenly declared from the other end of the line, bursting into a cocky laugh when he’d finished.
Standing nearby, Fabian Holmes heard every word of what Theodore had just said. To prevent things from getting worse, he couldn’t afford to overthink and swiftly snatched his phone back from Easton Holmes’s hand.
Afraid that Easton might grab the phone again, Fabian stepped aside with his phone, and once away from Easton, he finally placed the phone close to his ear.
"Theo! Stop causing trouble. Whatever’s in your heart, take it out on me, but leave your brother and sister-in-law out of this. They’re as innocent as you, especially your sister-in-law, who has nothing to do with any of this." Fabian spoke in a single breath, unsure of the exact situation, but knowing well that Theodore’s actions all stemmed from his own mistakes.
If it weren’t for his infidelity back then, none of the ensuing events would have occurred, and it wouldn’t have led to this now.
The two brothers, though half-siblings, were flesh and blood, and brotherly discord was the last thing he wanted to see, especially due to his own actions, leaving him deeply pained.
However, Theodore didn’t see it that way. He was already entrenched in his resentment, "That woman killed my mother, so I’ll make her feel the pain of losing a dear one, just as I did."
His goal was to make Amelia Linton suffer, to let her experience the same pain he did by making her lose her only son.
"Theodore Holmes! You are getting more unreasonable with every word. Easton is your brother, your own brother." Theodore’s words filled Fabian with anger and fear, wondering how his son could have turned into someone who could speak such heartless words.
Fabian’s anger did nothing to change Theodore’s mind. Once set, he was not easily swayed, "He’s not my brother. I refuse to acknowledge a brother born of that woman."
His hatred for Amelia Linton extended to Easton, and now it even implicated Lily Turner, just because she was married to her son.
"Theodore Holmes!"
Fabian shouted Theodore’s name into the phone angrily. After the outburst, he took a deep breath to quickly calm himself down, but before he could say anything, he heard the piercing words from the other end, "You choose. Are you on my side, me and my mother’s side, or with that mother and son?"
