Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 109: Skills, And A One-Sided Beatdown
Acid Manipulation [Level 1 | 0/100] (Epic)
—A basic Acid Manipulation skill. It encompasses the necessities and has room for evolution once the max level is reached.
1. Acid Lash: Form a high-pressure whip of acid that deals 450,000 Acid Damage and leaves behind a lingering burn for 2 seconds that disables all healing.
Cost: 1,000,000 MP
2. Catalytic Snap: Condense all surrounding acid into a single volatile orb. Throwing it causes a chain reaction explosion that deals 1~10,000,000 (+500% Intelligence) Acid Damage.
Cost: 5,000,000 MP
3. Acid Infusion: Infuse weapons with the [Acid] property. [Acid]-infused weapons deal +100% extra damage and penetrate through all defenses.
Duration: 24 Hours
Cost: 250,000 MP
4. Passive Corrosive Mastery: All Acid Damage is increased by 300%. Grants immunity to the [Corrosion] status ailment.
It was a good starter skill, and honestly, he saw a lot of room for improvement.
Rael only had four days to get his shit together, so he needed to level the skill up as much as possible.
After all, his Plan A was simple.
Gather an army of constructs, give them armor, and of course, make one of them light the bonfire while another attempts to get the ember to him.
As foolish as it was—and he knew his chances of coming out alive in this scenario were slim—they were definitely not zero.
On that note, he went ahead and checked out the other skill he'd bought.
Mind Anchor [Level 1 | 0/100] (Epic+)
1. Unshakable Will: Grants immunity to possession, illusions, and mind control for 60 seconds.
Cost: 500,000 MP
Cooldown: 10 minutes
2. Mind Barrier: All mental-based attacks are 15% less effective on you.
New n𝙤vel chapters are published on novelbuddy.cσ๓.
3. Reflective Anchor: Every single mental-based attack inflicted on you has a 1% chance to be reflected onto the attacker.
Despite this skill being of a little higher rank, its effects were simple and definitely ordinary at a glance.
However, it was the most important skill he could get at the current moment.
After all, if his body got jacked during a fight, then it wouldn't be so great.
Hmm... but how should I train these skills? Rael pondered as he jogged up to the Beast.
"Hey, I have a question." Rael tapped his shoulder.
"Hm? You still have the will to talk to me? How amusing..." the Beast chuckled. "What is it?"
"Since you're convinced my life's going to end in four days, train me," Rael suggested, causing the Beast to halt.
"You... what?" the Beast muttered. "Why do you think I'd accept an offer like that?"
Rael scoffed. "Be my guest. Do nothing for the next couple of days in this city while I'm out training and doing political shit. But of course, what else could I have expected from you, Zarkul?"
The moment his words finished, the Beast emitted a subjugating presence and turned toward Rael with a cold glare.
"Do not use my name casually. This is your first and final warning," the Beast stated, taking a few steps forward and once again halting. "I don't mind helping you since Alune did say you might ask for something like this. But be warned, I will try to actively kill you."
"That's all I could ask for," Rael replied with a smirk. "Should we get started now?"
"Don't you have some politics to attend to?" the Beast asked, puzzled.
However, Rael merely shook his head. "Caedia is safe while I have the fragments. Also, the longer I make them wait, the more anxious they'll become. Which in turn, will get me a better deal."
With those words, Rael suddenly dashed toward the Beast, and under its nonchalant gaze, he delivered an uppercut to the chin.
-264,899! (Melee)
Damn, my damage without crits is pretty shit, Rael thought with a frown.
Nonetheless, the Beast didn't stagger back. In fact, it felt like punching a brick wall.
And of course, before the Beast began its attacks, Rael used his new skill, Acid Manipulation.
[MP -1,000,000 18,549,200/19,549,200 (x1 Acid Lash)]
Immediately, a green whip appeared and traveled toward the Beast. It didn't even attempt to dodge the attack, and of course, the whip soon connected.
-67,905,474! Critical Hit! (x1 Acid Lash)
Clearly a weak skill, however, since it disabled all healing, it was a necessity.
Nonetheless, Rael proceeded to coat his Violin Blade in the same acid.
[MP -250,000 18,299,200/19,549,200 (x1 Acid Infusion)]
It seemed like the Beast finally acknowledged his presence and stretched out its hand.
But since Rael knew what was coming, he finished his attack first by swiftly tapping the Red String.
To his honest surprise, the additive bonuses from both Flame and Acid made his damage skyrocket like crazy.
-5,152,756,233! Critical True Note! (x1 [Acid-Infused] Crystal Violin Blade)
-257,637,811! (x1 Intermediate Flameforged Arts)
He didn't use the Black String, instead, he added an explosive property to his flames in order to use his Explosive Maniac title, which increased his explosive damage by 15%.
But still...
Is this enough? I mean... I'm doing decent damage, but the minimum amount of HP that spider is going to have is 200 billion... Rael thought with a conflicted expression.
However, as he was lost in his thoughts, the Beast had seemingly vanished from its initial position.
Rael didn't waste any time and activated his Primordial Sight's Foresight option.
Now, he could see one second in the future, but despite that, the Beast was nowhere to be seen.
Or so he thought. But in the very next moment, several afterimages began appearing in front of him, each displaying a different sight.
Instead of helping him, Foresight acted as a sort of flashbang, and because of that, the Beast appeared in front of him—its fist already extended as it flew straight toward Rael's abdomen.
And since he didn't have any time to dodge, he took it like a champ.
[HP -37,693,912! 2,618,488/40,312,400]
"Kugh..." Rael grasped his abdomen. It felt like a truck hit him, ran him over, then backed up and hit him again.
To make matters worse, the Beast let out a disappointed sigh.
"I held back so much... but you do know you won't survive a single hit from Bertha, right? Your billion-damage attacks are slick and all, but you're not the only one who can do them," the Beast remarked, walking over to Rael and staring him straight in the eyes.
"I've changed my mind," the Beast stated, taking a deep breath. "I'm going to train you for the next three days. But it's not because I'm worried about you or anything. In fact, watching a fight where the contender gets killed in a single hit is quite boring."
A massive smirk appeared on the Beast's face.
"Well then, Rael Sutekh. Prepare yourself. We shall start in a minute."
...Gulp.
