Note to future fucking self, always, and I mean always, try to inspect someone before you go ahead and piss them off... Rael grumbled.

This situation wasn't ideal in the slightest.

Two Commander Class Elites, plus a Leader Class Boss.

If they all ganged up on him, he would be in pretty big trouble.

But an apostle being Leader Class? I'm fucked if I go against the spider.

After Leader Class came Noble Class, and if he had to put his chips on the table, that was the spider's current rank.

I'm definitely not fighting it, I'm running away the first chance I get.

Nonetheless, he finally snapped out of it, glancing back at Michael.

"Sorry, what did you say?"

"Hm?" Michael tilted his head. "I said we'd like to offer you a counteroffer. We will give you 200 million Trell if you choose to join us. You will be given a royal status, and anything else you can ever wish fo—"

"Pass." Rael shrugged. "This is a horrible deal and you know it."

While he was busy pissing these three off, he had to buy a little something in the meantime.

<Expand for more>

Ehh... A railgun is cool, the bug spray won't work, but the skill seems pretty nice, Rael pondered.

His earlier goal was to simply steal the spider's skill. However, if it was Noble ranked, then he'd be screwed either way.

And despite wanting to avoid it, he had this creeping suspicion the spider would come to find him on its own.

And in this case, Acid Manipulation might be the only skill he could actually use to fight back.

After all, the acid could melt its thick exoskeleton—and if it seeped into its body, it would do some real damage.

Therefore, Rael was ready to purchase it. However, before he could, Michael suddenly began walking toward him.

"Oh?" Rael tilted his head, preparing to pull out his Violin Blade and attack.

But instead of any fights happening, Michael merely performed a bow.

"I apologize for our discourtesy. We should take this conversation inside. And as for the monetary demands increasing per minute, could you please waive those? We can come to a normal arrangement in better quarters that both parties will like," Michael said plainly.

Closed quarters aren't good. However, with every moment that passes, the crowd turns in their favor, Rael thought with a sigh and nodded.

"Alright, lead the way."

Michael bowed once again, then returned to the two empresses.

In the meantime, Rael turned to Caedia.

"I'm not sure how the inner part of the city works, but let's be careful," Rael said, then nonchalantly brought up the big topic. "Also, have you ever heard of the Spider Monarch?"

The moment his words fell, Caedia froze, staring back into his eyes in shock.

"T-The Spider Monarch? I-It's also a fairy tale that's been going around in this world... The only thing I know about it is that it's supposedly a strong monster that affects the mind. It even takes people's bodies for itself and nurtures them... but then again, it's just a fairy tale."

"Right..." Rael narrowed his eyes and leaned in close to her ear. "Your sister is the vessel of the Spider Monarch... her transformation isn't complete from what I see, but it's likely not too far away from completion."

"...?" Caedia turned to him, then a few seconds later, she finally processed what he had just said.

However, as she was about to yell out to her sister, he covered her mouth.

"Shh..." Rael gestured with a sigh. "Don't blow our cover. I know we don't have a lot of trust between each other, but I would never lie about these things."

With that, he tapped her on the shoulder and proceeded to the car. He quickly stored it alongside Sweepus Prime, and then flashed a small glance at the Beast.

"Were they already turned from the start?" Rael asked.

"Yep." The Beast nodded with a smirk. "Bertha was likely watching that entire conversation play out through her eyes, so I'm really going to enjoy your fight..."

Rael furrowed his brows. "And what makes you so sure I'm going to fight the spider?"

"That's simple," the Beast's smirk grew. "Bertha is guarding the last monument on my orders, and she won't move from there unless someone just so happens to pass by and move her by force."

"You..." Rael trailed off with a frown. "So from the very start, you only wanted me to grow strong enough to face that spider?"

"If it makes you feel any better, Alune agreed to my idea," the Beast shrugged. "No one leaves the Depths, so naturally, I can't make any exceptions."

"So the key...?"

"That fairy tale is bullshit. The key does do something interesting though," the Beast finished with a grin. "On the other hand..."

"I'm sure I don't have to tell you what will happen once you fail the quest," the Beast added and began walking toward the city.

But before it could get too far, Rael asked a simple question.

"And if I manage to complete this quest?"

The Beast halted, turning around to face him with a confused expression.

"It's impossible... but sure, entertain that idea. I'd love to see just how far your desperation will take you."

With that, the Beast continued its walk, leaving the frowning Rael behind.

I had a feeling it would go like this, Rael sighed. I'm surrounded by maniacs, but I'm definitely not going down like some pawn.

Therefore, he opened the premium shop and selected two skills in particular.
