Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 59. First Ally
59. First Ally
Eryndor held up the beasts egg in both hands, around a corner of it were a number of black ink-like veins that grew, slowly spreading across the egg. Whatever had infected its mother was also doing the same to the egg, Eryndor wondered what type of parasite was responsible for this.
He hated the cruel game fate loved to play with him. If he could not save the mother how was he supposed to save the child. Then the answer came to him:
[Would you like to adopt the beast and make it your ally?]
"What’s this now? Will this save the egg?" He looked at the legacy with mixed expression. "An ally, like a partner?"
As he watched the veins of black continue to spread across the egg he felt compelled to do what the system demanded of him. What other choice did he have but to make it his ally?
He closed his eyes and spoke to the legacy, "This better save her egg." But the legacy was silent as always. On acknowledging his command the legacy asked another question.
[Soul Essence- 21/20 will be used]
To lose almost all of his soul essence to save the egg of a beast that meant what to him, was it really worth it?
"Do it! Save the damn egg." He said and found himself in the soul void yet again.
The souls void looked a bit lighter than it was before, with every beast core it consumed it always seemed to grow more vast and brighter. He stood there with the egg in his hand. A strange buzzing comes from his egg and soon he feels something leaving his body and entering into the egg, he feels himself weaken greatly as he stumbles but still holds on tight ti the egg. Determined not to let the poor beast inside die he holds on tight to it.
A few seconds passed and the transfer was complete the black inks started to shrink till they were all gone leaving behind a huge white egg. Eryndor wondered if he could have done the same to the eggs mother but chose not to dwell on it too much than he should have.
"What should I do now?" He asked the vast soul void to have his voice get drowned out by the emptiness.
A few seconds passed in silence and he was starting to doubt the authenticity of his own power, all that changed when the egg started to shake in his hand giving him the sign that there was I deed life within it. A small crack appeared on its side with golden light pouring out of it. The left eye springs back to life, the soul of the master he had thought dead waking up due to this development.
"Ma- master? You’re alive?" His voice was filled with joy he did not know he had.
There was silence from the eye for a few minutes before he got a response.
["So this is what my cheeks disciple has been up to all this time
Not bad kid, the moment it hatches you have to name the beast to fully become it’s master"]
Eryndor noticed the excitement brimming in his master’s voice and asked. "What’s got you so jumpy? You are rarely happy about anything other than tormenting me."
His master answered him with a proud laugh. "Your pain, your efforts, every ounce of sweat and drop of blood you have lost has yeileded effort. This is just another if your wins."
Before Eryndor could dwell on his master’s words the egg continued to crack further letting out streams of golden light that blinded him. Soon the fragments of broken shell dropped to the ground and disnintegrated, the light in his palm vanished to reveal an small beast the size of a humans fist.
It’s had snow-white feathers, blue blue eyes that looked almost cartoonist, a small black beak and talons. It looked very much like it’s mother only a much, much cuter. It was so adorable that he cuddled it to his cheek immediately, this prompted more insults from his cheeky master.
["So my student is a softie beneath all that brash sense"]
Recovering his sense of self Eryndor pulled himself away from the beast and defended himself. "Shut it you shitty master, this is her child. You can’t possibly undertake bond I share with her."
["You talk just like him, he also had connections to beasts. It was this same energy I sensed that woke me up"]
Eryndor’s eyes started to overflow with tears he could not control, seeing his reflection mirroring back at him in the beasts beady eyes he smiled. He might not have saved its mother but he saved it.
"Oh I have to name it." He said to himself as he thought to himself for a while on a suitable name. Eryndor had a bad reputation for naming things, usually saying the first thing that came to mind in various situations but this time he calmed down knowing he had to choose something really suitable for the newborn.
"Owly, no. White?" He thought to himself, he wanted a name that would draw out the same feeling he felt with its mother which it very much resembled. It’s mother was a beautiful shade of white with an innocent and pure heart like snow.
"I’ve got it." He said out loud as he looked at the newborn beast and said. "Snow, that’s what I’ll call you."
The newborn gave a loud hoot that resembled a laugh as a golden light hovered above it’s head and started to drawn a black sigil that looked like an ankh with two wings at its side. This was was the sign that it was his ally, Eryndor could not help but feel that it was a sign of servitude, a bond between master and slave.
["Good job kid"]
Eryndor proceeded to cuddle the newborn beast more as he turned his attention to the items he had accumulated in his soul void. His attention then went to his master. "Master... How long have you been sleeping?"
There was a long silence before he got a reply:
["Been a while"]
Eryndor noticed that his master had no knowledge of any of his items because he could feel his pressing curiousity on those objects. He could not tell why but his master’s consciousness could not stay for long, and because of whatever he did to save him it lasted even longer. He could tell his master would soon go into another long slumber. Truthfully he was not sure he had learned a thing from him, the only use he had was emotional support at best.
"How long will you be out for this time?" He asked with concern in his voice.
His master did not delay long before he responded:
["Kid I might have not been with you every step of the way but I know you have faced threats that have left you broken, destroyed and mentally destabilised. It’s the path of those who wish to get stronger, pain is a sign you are on the right path.
Don’t welcome it, destroy it! Let it be your ultimate teacher, learn from every encounter with it and you will become a better, stronger version of yourself"]
Eryndor felt himself sink at his master’s words, it was the first time he had received a lesson from him.
["When I wake up, I want you to surprise me"]
Eryndor wanted to say something, to offer a word of reassurance but he couldn’t. He seemed to lose all confidence to speak till his master’s consciousness faded from him.
By the time he woke up he was back in the cave with the offspring of the owl beast in his hands. He could not help but feel he was carrying another legacy with him. "Snow, how would you like to help me kill a beast?" It was just another Chapter of his life.
