Chapter 60: 60. Training Montage

60. Training Montage

If the first few days he had spent with Snow had proved anything it was that he had just begun to understand the mysteries of his abilities.

He had learned that just like him the newborn had been born with its own set of abilities. Eryndor was seating at the edge of the cave watching Snow fly around a small distance from him, the newborn gave him the same feeling it’s mother had given him only that it was much more energetic that it’s mother ever was. And it also appeared to be a female to he referred to "it" as "her".

He opened up the legacy’s information on allies to check it’s abilities again.

[Allies: Snow

Ally Rank: Normal

Ally Description: The offspring of the "great ice owl" carries the "frost of eternal spring" in its bloodline

Ally Core: Dormant

Soul Essence: 20/1000

Abilities:

"Bird’s Eye View"- A synergy type ability that can be shared with the master. Borrow the sight of your ally and widen your scope

"Ice Breath"- A breath from the "frost of eternal spring" buries the world in it’s unforgiving ice]

It took him a while to understand what every detail meant. Just like him the beast needed to acquire soul essence to advance and since he got a soul essence every time he slayed a beast all he would have to do was simply transfer them to Snow. As for the frost of eternal spring Eryndor had no knowledge of what it meant. After experimenting with the bird view of Snow he realised that it could share it’s vision with him. This came as a shock to him, seeing the world from a new scope.

He took a days learning how to adjust between both visions and be able to use both his vision and the bird’s view at the same time. Having the abily to scout ahead without putting himself in danger while also being able to ambush any inspecting beast was a big boost to his already complex method of survival. Ice breath was an ability Snow had that enabled it to turn whatever it’s icy breath touched to ice, because of it’s early age it was not very useful in the field but was easy to train.

Eryndor utilised the abilities Snow came with while also tending to her every need, food, warmth and grooming. Snow unlike her mother was a handful and a prankster and at an early age showing signs of intelligence despite being a normal beast. Eryndor was not sure if it got this ability as a result of being his ally or perhaps it’s kind were always born with a small sense of intelligence.

Training his little ally was also a hearty task, Eryndor remembered why he never wanted a pet in his oast life and now he ended up with the most troublesome one of them. Eryndor could also feel the strong emotions that Snow was experiencing, fear, hate and love. The stronger the emotion the easier it was to feel it, and over time they truly became allies. What became the most relieving thing about their relationship were the times he could feel a warm emotion from Snow towards him, and emotion he identified to be loved.

It was the first time he felt he under what it meant to be loved or his closest he felt to ever being loved. His days from when he had acquired Snow would always begin and end with him paying his respects to her mother’s grave then tending to the Snow while also training and then hunting. Having the ability to scope the entire mountain terrain from the sky made it easier to kill the various beasts in the area. This way he would get soul essence to feel Snow and beast core to devour much faster.

His training regimen became more serious to the point it was psychotic. He would meditate in the icy stream naked to better control his flame body tempering art to a new level while running his mana through his mana veins multiple times. With every beast core he consumed he grew significantly more stronger and their effectiveness diminished slightly Eryndor came to learn also that not every normal beast he encountered carried a mana core, apparently the ice mountain was so dense with magical energy that the ratio of beasts with core was higher.

He trained harder while mastering the first three forms of moon style sword art he had been thought. He did his push ups, squats, and runs— using the forest as an obstacle course. Times he would take a more drastic measure and try to outrun a number of beasts he would encounter, this would leave him badly injured and near dead at every try. The pain almost drove him mad but he made it his motto to surpass the person he was the day before and that meant facing even greater pain and overcoming it. The only comfort he got was Snow who was more than an ally but also his emotional support.

Pain became his teacher and also his punisher if he failed. He lived under this strict regiment till he had killed almost all of the beasts in the area, some had left the vicinity because of his growth if his kill rate. Time passed slowly and soon three months had gone by, Eryndor was now ready and confident. That day he bid the grave of his former roommate and mother to his ally farewell, it was time for him to set out finally.
