Chapter 70: 70. Greener Lands

70. Greener Lands

The journey away from the ice mountain region was more harsh than Eryndor had thought. Being too accustomed to the cold he found it hard to deal with the heat especially when the sun was at its peak, his allies also found it hard to handle the weather change. At times he would use the flame body tempering art out of repetitive instinct making the heat more unbearable. It took days to get this habit under control.

More than a week passed before he realised that he was lost, the map his uncle Thalvarin had given him he soon found out how unreliable it was. The images were poorly drawn, what did he expect from his uncle’s outdated memory.

Aside from how badly things had turned out he quite enjoyed exploring the open world, the greener Lands was what he loved most. In his old world he had only ever seen such things in documentaries and fantasy novels. Though the plant ls there were much more greener than the ones he was used to, he suggested that this was due to the possibilities brought about by the presence of magic in the world.

Eryndor had come to realise how much magic affected the world, though swordmasters did not actively wield magic their movements incorporated another aspect of something you could call body magic. It was like the body becoming tempered to break the shakes of what was deemed normal to a newer height of superhuman. His uncle had told him that in a way many people chose to focus on swordsmanship rather than magic, what he was supposed to do with this information was entirely up to him.

As Eryndor walked up a hill that was covered in green grass that reached up to his waist he ran his hands on top of the grass. He could hear king yelping happily as he jumped around in the grass and played for a bit. Eryndor did not worry about the young pup leaving his line of sight. King was able to look over himself, with Snow around there was nothing that could attack them without her knowledge.

He had also noted the differences between his two allies was their personalities. In a way they be said to have inherited their parents personalities. King was playful and always loud, he acted like an actual dog, happy when treated nicely and sulking when scolded. The real case was Snow who appeared to be more sheltered like her mother, from the moment she hatched Eryndor knew she was always different.

Snow was in a way more intelligent than him, in her earlier years she was prone to nagging and demanding attention as well as playing pranks on her master but with the addition of her little brother she ceased such attitudes and instead chose to be more quiet and sheltered. Even as she evolved into an awakened beast she started to act strange, more responsible. She would spend longer in the sky than with her master, scouting and strangely she became able to formulate effective strategies for hunts. Eryndor was not sure why she developed this behaviour, perhaps she wanted to be more mature for her little brother or perhaps she was envious of her little brother.

Whatever the reason was it was entirely oblivious Eryndor as it missed the days when it was just the two of them with the constant nagging and pranks. Despite growing apart in a way he did not feel betrayed, unlike King who was always pulsing with energy Eryndor could never understand Snow’s thoughts and emotions through the bond they shared.

Who knew being a perfect owner was such a hanmrd job.

Eryndor finally reached the top of the hill slowing him to look down before him to a forest of dark green leaves, the trees rose into the trees and there was a stream a few meters from the base of the hill acting as a boundary between the hill and the forest. Eryndor sighed as he knew what this meant. He was stepping into a new landmark, a forest of sorts and where there was forest there was meat.

In the weeks he had spent away from the ice mountains he knew just how rare it was to find a good game. He wanted to turn back to see how far he had come from the ice mountains but refrained from such. He was done with that place.

Using his bird’s eye view he tried to see if there was any danger around after Snow confirmed his thoughts he dropped to the ground for a moment of fresh air. And huffed out, Eryndor had become bored from talking to himself. This was another reason why he missed Snow’s company.

"Boy I wish I could run into someone soon." He huffed out. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Meanwhile at another part of the forest a group of poorly dressed men with armours looking off low grade. Some had only chest plates covering their chests others wearing spaulders that covered their shoulders. They were four in number as they moved in a well planned way. They started through the forest with a huge wild boar the size of a car, it ran away from the group and ended up running into a dead end.

The boar stopped and looked at the wall of stone covering it’s path and snorted in confusion, apparently the wall had not been here a moment ago. It’s eyes flashed with fury as it turned and looked it’s determined pursuers.

"Good job Deet!" Screamed the leader of the group as he tightened his gloves hands on the hilt of his long sword. His foot work was by far the most controlled of the group.

Deet appeared to be a lean man who had his bare hands pressed down on the floor. Sweat trickled down the side of his sweaty as he puffed in frustration. "I might not be a strong earth mage but my force control is superb to my rank.

The leaders seemed to lose all the confidence he had in the character as he frowned and said. "Just don’t let it get away if you want a good pay from the guild hall."

"Right!" They all echoed as one.
